First and foremost i'd like to keep this short and concise while also adding all the points i'd like to make.

Also if any of the points i'm making have already been made, please find it in your hearts to forgive me. Any constructive critisism is appreciated. but to the point:

I'm wondering if any of the cows, sheep, or hermits are aware of the saved film function. (for users unaware please click this)

Anyway, i've got a few questions to ask anyone who is willing to answer.

1. Don't you think the saved film feature is a new feature in videogames? if not what other game has used it before?

2. Wouldnt you like other games to implement this feature? if yes, for both campain and multiplayer?

3. Don't you think its cool to re-watch your games?

I guess the real thing i'm trying to say is that so many people bash halo 3 for just being 'Halo 2.5' or just being a rehash. When infact, the new saved film feature is(to my knowledge) a completely new feature in videogaming. I'm aware many blind fanboys will say the saved film feature is worthless, tacked on, or maybe even a stupid idea. But as a Halo 3 beta player i can safely say i enjoyed using the (watered down version of the) saved film feature. infact Saved films will revolutionize machinima as we know it.

so please, i don't want to point fingers but i'm mainly talking to cows, sheep and hermits. (obviously) Don't call halo 3 a rehash. Bungie may not be revolutionizing the FPS genre, but they are adding something in Halo 3 that i think may revolutionize videogames in general.

1.) It's basically just a replay, so no. A lot of RTS's have it.

2.) Yes, it needs to be in more games.

3.) Yes, it is cool.

We've had threads on this before - NO, the saved-replay feature isn't new. PC games have been doing it for years.

Halo 2 was a huge disappointment to me and left a sour taste in my mouth at the "end" (I was hoping that some obvious plot-holes would actually get explained toward the end of the game, such as Gravemind (I was one of the few that actually caught his name when mentioned offhand in the middle of that firefight by Cortana). Lo and behold, not only was I surprised that nothing got explained, but that there was no ending! Bungie had the last laugh didn't they? Har har!

I don't want "teh innovation" in Halo 3, I just want a repeat of the Solid Single-player mode in Halo CE. I don't want features thrown in for the sake of being novel. Halo CE had a single player experience to rival that of Half-Life. Bungie should just take out the "3" and replace it with "Arena" if Halo 3 is a repeat of 2.

as far as i'm concerned the saved film feature is a great idea and i'm glad bungie is going to implemnet it. people have been comparing it to racing games. but its completely different from them. i'm looking at this from a machinima point of view as well. it will now be extremely easy to make machinima.

even if people say this is not an new idea, cant you atleast agree you'd like to see your favorite first person shooter have this feature? (killzone, haze, crysis, bioshock)

Well, the film feature should increase how many people show off the e-peen and add more to the community. I wish Tribes was still around, I loved the community and shoutcasts.

I love Halo 3, and the saved films are good. But not THAT good. I hardly even bothered watching other people's movies - I don't really care much about them. Forza 2 has full flyaround, so you can move around your car or any other car on the tracks, at any angle, take photographs, blur the scenery, etc etc. Forza 2 has, in my opnion, the best saved replay feature I've ever seen.

I think one innovation people don't realize that in Halo 2 you had no health meter. So alot of games now use the no health meter - just duck, hide, cover to get your health back now. Bungie did say that this Saved Film feature was just an early stage. So I don't really consider it just a replay feature. I have a feeling people will use this feature and make mini-movies like those Red Vs Blue guys.

Halo 2 did have a health meter. It was just rechargable after 5 seconds, but it was still a health meter.

And sensesxfail - I know it was watered down, but in the real one what is added apart from rewind, ff, pause, stuff like that? I like it being there for ousting cheaters, otherwise it's largely pointless. But of course, anything Bungie does is a 'revolution'... Just make us a god damn good game, deal with the extra crap when you get the basics right Bungie. And this is coming from a Halo lover. I want a tasty cake before you put the icing on it.

It's an over shield. I was trying to make a point that Halo 2 didn't really have a health meter which meant they didn't have health packets scattered all over the levels. And I think that was pretty innovative.

I always thought the main innovation by the halo series to be the matchmaking system together with the party system. I'm a firm believer that every MP game should just copy this straight from halo 2, or from halo 3 in due time. It's just so much better than any other online setup I've ever seen, it's not funny anymore.

I do agree with you, Halo 2 did some new stuff that changed the way we play all sorts of games. Halo 3, as of yet, has nothing that will revolutionise anything. It might be a damn good game, but not a single part of it is NEW.

How about, new vehicles and weapons that havent even been shown yet. There may be some innovative weapons.

Also lets not forget the whole equipment idea thats pretty new, dropping a bubble shield, or mine...

Also 4 player Coop, this will be the first FPS to do that...

And who knows what else is in the single player.

1. Don't you think the saved film feature is a new feature in videogames? if not what other game has used it before?

Not new at all. Tons of pc game have had some sort of replay function for a long time(recording demos, which most fps had bak in the day for title screens). Driv3r is a console game that has it, with tons of camera tools(and you can share your vids via live)

2. Wouldnt you like other games to implement this feature? if yes, for both campaign and multiplayer?

Yes.

3. Don't you think its cool to re-watch your games?

Yes, it'sneato, especially with the ability to set up camera angles and such.

XD! So how many Xbox 360s can actually do this with their core system?

Microsoft - "There is this saved film feature in the game, but you'd have to buy a new 360 with an HDD! Of course, expect to soon anyways because we're gonna break your core system!"
