there is nothing to compare, PSN plus is about getting free **** and xbox live is about paying to unlock online.
I literally lol'd at this comment! --- I like the model of PSN+ more than XBL Gold. The one downside to PSN+ is that those free games won't be playable after you stop subscribing (themes, avatars, add-ons will remain yours). On the other hand, you're renting / leasing the ability to play online on XBL Gold. So, the incentive for both is there. But you're actually making your money back plus profit with PSN+there is nothing to compare, PSN plus is about getting free **** and xbox live is about paying to unlock online.
Totalgym9000
PSN+ - You pay to get free stuff in return. Free games are basically 'leased'. You literally make your money back. You get store discounts as well.
XBL Gold - You pay for 'leasing' online gaming. You pay for features that are otherwise free elsewhere (Netflix, Last FM, Twitter, Facebook, Online Play). Technically, you don't get $50 worth of services in return. At least I don't see it on my end. For me, 95% of Gold Features are not worth it. The games themselves can be worth it though, depending on how much I care about a particular game's MP.
--- I'll go with PSN+.
I'd have an opinion, but for some reason I can't purchase PSN Plus right now. It refuses my debit card and won't let me add funds to my wallet. I've checked my info numerous times, but to no avail. I'm hoping this is just a product of busy servers and traffic.
Well, I just subscribed to PSN+ for $50 and I immediately received Wipeout HD for free. This is a game that I've wanted to buy but didn't want to pay $20 for. And what's this? A bunch of free DLC for some PSN games that I already own? Whoa! That's another $12 saved!
After 1 day PSN+ has costed me a net of $18 for an entire year. I think I'll go ahead and say I like PSN+ better
Reason why PSN plus is a joke compared to XBL
devilsoultaker2

Cool! I'm getting it soon :). I don't have Wipeout HD or Rally Cross. So there's $26 of value for me so far. PS. On PSN it shows a cool + sign next to to your name if you have PSN+.Well, I just subscribed to PSN+ for $50 and I immediately received Wipeout HD for free. I downloaded the 3.40 update last night and all it was was basically the enabler for plus..which is kind of sad in and of it self. But I went through the store looking at what was offered with plus...and wow that was really sad. Nearly all the games are subpar, and some were just totally bad, Why offer us 20% off or free games from a developer I'd never heard of...and as turned out just made simple little psn games...
then I thought about the whole automatic demo, update and such download...and I noticed that this month I had used 89% of my monthly alotted internet usage since my isp sets a 250 gig limit a month. with 360 gaming, watching movies, listening to music...oh and I timed how long it took to download the 3.40 update last night...from start to finish dowload and install. 8 minutes 4 seconds.
so with internet qouta thats all that automatic stuff that will be eating at it, and the speeds my god so slow, though much faster then past updates.
P.S: then there is the dlc offered for free..most of which I all ready own...and a few on games I don't play anymore and the dlc doesn't give me much of a reason to go back too...Sony better get some better stuff on plus...
plus has alot going for it i see good things for its future.
Just imagine Halloween time in October PSN + filled with horror stuff
Resident evil PS1 Classics Those arcade like zombie games they have on PSN like burn zombie burn for example, add ons for resident evil 5 discount price maybe even free for that month ya know? just a couple ideas ill throw out there :)
i think sony can make it very interesting for us you if they think like us.
Xbox live has been going downhill over the last 3 or 4 years. Regular PSN is better than it, no doubt.
that depends if they think like us gamers, I can tell you right now I would have put very different games up as the launch of plus. not a single game in there for free interests me all the dlc is stuff I've all ready bought or games so old its highly unlikely the majority of gamers will still be playing. and my god a 60 minute trial game, 6.8 gigs large I'll spend more time downloading that then playing it for 60 minutes and then I have to buy it to open it up.plus has alot going for it i see good things for its future.

PlayStation Plus has very little to do with online play, which is probably why Sony didn't call it PlayStation Network Plus, but PlayStation Plus. It's all about content delivery making it a subscription-based version of the PlayStation Store. It's all content based.
On the other hand XBL is about the online community making it service based. Each of its premium features and services point to that.
With that in mind, it doesn't seem logical to compare the two.
yeah...except everyone else is happy, xbox live has added more and more features then psn has...Loads of more features actually.[QUOTE="Heirren"]

How can you claim that everyone else is happy? While I haven't paid for it for the last year and a half, before that I had been a constant member of Live since the beginning. And as far as Xbox Live as a multiplayer medium, the quality has dropped in its very core feature. From my experience, going from LIVE to PSN was like going into a time machine and using xbox live, circa 2004--where it was more about the game. Street Fighter, KZ3, and MW2 are ALL better experiences on the PSN. I'd attribute some of it to the age demographic that occupies the respected platform. PS3 users tend to be a tad older than the average xbox user, and generally speaking, these older gamers just want to unwind and play some games.
I'm not even a fan of MW2, but in the time i've played it--I was NEVER able to get into a game that didn't have either some little kid screaming, or someone exploiting the game. I stopped play Halo3, a series I'm a borderline fanboy of, because of getting into games with constant modding/cheating. Imo, if I'm paying for something, I'd like part of my monetary contribution to microsoft to go to them supplying the service they advertise.
Facebook, Twitter, Last FM? THESE are key features for a GAMING service? That's lame. I'm willing to bet that users on this board could think of countless other ideas that would benefit the actual gaming experience, over a means to throw more ads in our faces.

why? because on xbox live you can win REAL stuff

I have been a part of xbox live since 2002 and the beta, I WAS there are the ground floor when they were building the service, I have had 2 accounts while using the service, my latest for 5 years, I have it paid till 1/20/2013. then you have the fact that the majority of games on ps3 still don't have the majority of peopel with mics, So your claims of user quality cannot be confirmed, when I was playing the mag beta for 4 months and then played the retail product still less then half the people in my matches would have mics...
and sorry no Street fighter a better experience because of the dpad on the 360 not being up to snuff, but that game has just as many rage quiters, trash talkers as the 360 version does. Killzone 3 as well *and look at the small amount of users that has now compared to 360 multiplayer games* MW2 no, the community is far larger on the 360 and the fact you haven't used the mute button is your problem not the services problem there are hacks and glitches galore on the ps3 version just like the 360 version and smack talkers galore as well.
The attitude and communcation of people is rarely tied to their age in online arenas. even the oldest can get pissed off and trash talk and harras. there are just as many hacks, and glitches on ps3 games as 360 multiplayer games, Killzone 3, Resistance fall of man 1 and 2..ect so please don't act like PSN is this magically cleaner service, I've gotten into many halo 3 games *and halo 3 is not known for hacks or cheaters like mw2* with out dealing with screaming kids, and Many MW2 games, and when I do come up to a person that bothers me? half a second and they are muted thats how fast it is to mute someone in these games.
Oh and you talk of facebook, fm...ect yet isn't Sony incorperating just as much of these things into its service? photo editing, upload, photo gallery..the 3.40 update was much of nothing except to enable plus features.
Microsoft has updated and added more features then sony has ever since the 360 and ps3 launchs ignoreing the 1 year headstart even, A completely new interface, tweaks, features. You keep claiming xbox live has gone down hill and I've been there since the start and its no worse then it ever was, you keep citing sources of cheating, and hacking when the ps3 on mw2 has just as many problems and there were even problems with kz3 and resistance 1 and 2...dedicated servers do not guard against hacks and glitches. all your problems seem to stem from users whom you can easily mute on xbox live *not so easy on ps3* and glitches and cheats...all of which bad users, and glitches and cheaters can be found on psn.
yeah...except everyone else is happy, xbox live has added more and more features then psn has...Loads of more features actually.[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]

semi agree but, when I had the xbox 360 it seem more user focused it was alot easier to talk to people when I had an xbox 360 and make friends then it is currently on my PSN, while you talk about useless features on Xbox live, PS network has useless features aswell atleast to me, prettty sure over 60 percent of the people aint gonna use the video feature, facebook don't even see the point in that and there trophies needs to get better .. Not putting any service over the other, different strokes for different folks really in the end.The more I look at it, the more I realize how different each one is. I think theyre both trying to do two different things. Live is aimed more for Onlien multipalyer while PS + is geared mroe towards people that buy lots of stuff on PSN and want more of a value in addition to getting stuff for Free.

Not really, because PS+ adds nothing to PSN. It's an upgrade to the PlayStation Store.
If we can say (PSN + PS+) vs (XBL + XBL Marketplatce), sure.
Your paying 50 dollars a year to get nothing. Everything that is given out for free you are only renting not actually owning. Don't renew your membership everything goes away.
XBL, any that is free you can keep forever. They still have the better service for online gaming, more acarde games, more indie games, 1 v 100 and other community games for free
This is the biggest problem with Xbox Live.
Heirren
And the problem with these pleas for help, he really doesn't give alot of detail at all. Sounds alot like he got caught in a phishing scam. The problem isn't with Xbox Live. The real problem is lies between the couch and the controller.

It sounds more like someone got into his account through other means. Of course the other problem with xbox live is that 95% of its users are in that kids age demographic. And why must they all have that nasaly hiss to their voices?

yes that must be it, because you polled the entire xbox live user base and came up with that figure right? some how so millions of children are paying money to get on the service? right?
beyond that as Voodoo said the problem lies between your couch and your controller, it takes all of a few seconds to mute someone. Someones annoying in nearly every game most of them have a lobby before game start scroll to their name mute, during gameplay bring up player list in game mute.
