I love playing the wii. I hate to say this but it is killing gaming.

First, of all the wiimote is cool but who wants to swing there arms around for hours. Come on. This will kill gaming all of us hardcore gamers next gen when Sony and Microsoft try appeal to non gamers.

Second, is the sd graphics. this sends a message to game developers that they don't have to create great looking games. Again, bad for all of us hardcore gamers.

Third, developers are encouraged make an average games for the wii because it will sell to a lot of non-hardcore gamers and not try to make an incredible one for the pc/ps3/wii because it will make them less money.

Last, the under powered hardware will lead Nintendo to make another console in another year. This will rush microsoft and sony to an early release. Early releases will cause more problems like they caused this gen like high prices, falure rates and lower specs than originaly promised and hurting us hardcore gamers.

Nintendo please go back to the way you were in the golden days of the nes, snes and N64.

Sorry to hurt your feelings but the truth hurts.

It's all about opinions dude, if you think it's killing games, then let it, because if people are going to allow such a thing to happen, they don't deserve to game anyways.

I don't know. Most of the top sellers gamewise still seem to be hardcore/traditional fare. It's not like Smartypants and Cooking Mama are dominating the charts. And don't bring up Wii Play. The only reason that thing is selling is because of the remote it's bundled with. People think Wii casual mentality is taking over the industry, but I just think it's offering a new path. The Wii represents a fork in the road, not a U-Turn.

Couldnt disagree more. If games about Italian Plumbers excite you, you my friend, have problems. We need more games that are innovative, realistic (graphics and physics wise), and most importantly, have good content. I need something to entertain me by making me think. Wether this be through Realistic combat or an immersive story is up to the developer, but I predicte a backlash from the true gamers coming. Halo 3 had a great story line but was over in about 6 hours. So was CoD4. Multiplayer just gets repetitive and dull. We need new ways of gameing. Making choices that effect the outcome or combat that is so intense that its new every time is innovative. Not swinging your arms around to make a plumber jump around.

PS: This is constructive critizism, not trolling.

how does some one have problems?

Every one of those ideas have been implemented by some game in some way shape or form.

Stop your "constructive critism" and do something about it.

Oh and, you're silly if you think you have to swing your arms around heavily in order for the remote to respond.

I love playing the wii. I hate to say this but it is killing gaming.

First, of all the wiimote is cool but who wants to swing there arms around for hours. Come on.

Not for any serious games.

This will kill gaming all of us hardcore gamers next gen when Sony and Microsoft try appeal to non gamers.

Good thing for us Nintendo is appealing to all markets.

Second, is the sd graphics. this sends a message to game developers that they don't have to create great looking games. Again, bad for all of us hardcore gamers.

Not when Nintendo has promised for their next console to be HD.

Third, developers are encouraged make an average games for the wii because it will sell to a lot of non-hardcore gamers and not try to make an incredible one for the pc/ps3/wii because it will make them less money.

But the precedent is that the higher quality games do sell more. Unfortunately, there are people who buy games as gifts, or parents who buy games, that don't have the slightest clue what they're buying.

Last, the under powered hardware will lead Nintendo to make another console in another year. This will rush microsoft and sony to an early release. Early releases will cause more problems like they caused this gen like high prices, falure rates and lower specs than originaly promised and hurting us hardcore gamers.

No one knows when they're next release will be, but it certainly won't be before 2009.

Nintendo please go back to the way you were in the golden days of the nes, snes and N64.

If by delivering quality games, then they alread have.

Sorry to hurt your feelings but the truth hurts.

Yeah Right :P

This baffles me. How can you critize the nature of a game and then at the same time do so the audience that enjoys it, and still consider what you write to be constructive criticism? Super Mario Galaxy is a gem in a cesspool of the lack luster Platforming genre. Far and few between do games like these come out, so it stands to question, do you even know the nature, or the general message that a game like that is trying to convey? Basically, do you know what a "fun" game is?

Who cares if he is an "Italian Plumber"? If the game is fun doesn't it deserve to be played? Shouldn't the purpose of video gaming be to immerse yourself into an experience? Super Mario Galaxy is a gem of a game, and even though you have your own opinions, criticizing it because of said reason, is just totally missing the point of what the game is trying to convey.

One, Italian Plumber.... nuff said.

Two, you are slightly correct. In ME you could make choices but it rarely effected the outcome. I let someone live you got paragon points but you really didnt need to talk to them again. If you killed them you got renegade points and still didnt need to talk to them again. None of the choices you made effected gameplay that much. Only some dialog and plot changed and that wasnt reall noticable. And combat, please! In CoD 4, 'Shoots someone in the leg with .50' they just keep on walking.

Finally, I cant do anything about it, im not a game developer. Just because i critisize a game you like you dont have to have a fit.

The Wii can't even do a demo so they have to keep updating a Smash Brothers Dojo with little bits of info. That's the poor and backwards way of doing things. But what can you do with 256mb of space. I knew Nintendo would half-a.s.s it on a lot of things so I'm glad I ditched them when I saw the troubling signs.

*coughs politely and points to the PC* - the Wii has a cult of Nintendo fanatics who enjoy the old franchise, the PC has the kind of people your mom warned you about when you were growing up. Fallout 2 has ascended into religion-hood at this point. Fans spend most of their free time hiding in their fallout shelter, listening to vinyl records, and watching Dr. Strangelove on a black & white TV.

I myself have been struggling to overcome my Nuka Cola addiction for years... so flat... yet so refreshing, oh precious Nuka Cola.

-

Nintendo manages to have lots of cults on one platform though - the Mario Cult, the Zelda Cult, the Metroid Cult, the Mario Party Cult...

And whos fault is that when you have plenty of other games out now?

Marth6781

No other game interests me that much, except maybe Twilight Princess, but i've heard on and off things about it, and i might get no more heroes, im more of a violence/shooting kinda person, and i dont even wanna touch resident evil 4 because the videos looked horribly boring for some reason, i know i should give it a try but he looks like he moves so slow its kinda annoying, but anyway i love mario and i got a wii because i loved mario 64 and i knew i couldnt miss galaxy, im hoping for a star fox game this year, but other then that im not really electric chair-bound to nintendo's first party games.

RE4 isn't a run and gun game... but it's action packed, and more shooting orriented then any Resident Evil game before...

If your an action / shooter game fan then you really want to play Resident Evil 4...

1. Don't buy games that require you to swing your arms then. most "hardcore" games i know just require wrist movements most of the time.

2. I think the sales difference between the good looking games and bad looking games will send a bigger message.

3. Who's encouraging them to make average games? it's not nintendo and not the gamers. it's the publishers than have their A teams already commited to the losing consoles.

4. another year? nope. at least 4 more i'd say.

The wii is fine but i just donn't see me buying it really, it's fun for the price and a great party system but it lacks in many other departments, third party is a big issue for me on the Wii, it has a lot of crappy third party games and there not even selling well, the other one is just a little crticism that they need new characters Mario is iconic but i've seriously had enough of him and hearing about him not that it's bad heck Gakaxy was amazing, but they need something new! My other problem with the wii is no competitive online, even though they said at first online didn't matter, now they're to late in the game to tackle it i believe, the numbers are great and show that it's in a strong position but for how long? With all that said i just don't think i'll pick up a wii anytime soon really until it appeals to me.

Indeed. Games featuring oversized, steroid-riddled, half-witted, one-liner belching tough guys are much less problematic. ...wait... Also, at calling the campaign in CoD4 great.

The Wii is built from the ground-up to be a 100% casual/mainstream gaming console.

It's generally a family-friendly console with lots of cartoony games that parents and social groups just go gah-gah over.

Nintendo aims for kids and teenagers and they cash in BIG TIME.

I don't like those types of games anymore. As a kid I did, but as an adult, I prefer mature games with incredibly detailed graphics and deep gameplay.

Bouncing on turtle shells does not do it for me anymore.
