The USB storage idea makes the Arcade so much more attractive.

In a way, yeah. It's good news for me though. I've always been kinda limited by my 20GB HDD, but I have a couple 8GB flash drives and a 150GB external HDD I don't use. Question though, can games be installed to USB storage? Or HDD only

Good question, if it does allow you to install on USB then it would probably have a USB speed requirement like windows readyboost.

I'm almost halfway through my 500gb HDD on my PS3 (no demons/music/movies, just saves and game data), so if I did most of my gaming on my 360 a measly 8gb would never be enough.

Yes you can install to a USB stick but you need to have the disc in the drive for authentification.

So, It's still enough space for demos, arcade games, saves and hdd games and you can used 2 16 Gb flash drives.

I've got a lot of content on my 20gb HDD and still have about 6 gigs of free space. When the HDD is empty, there's only like 14 GB of space for some reason. An Arcade+16gb Memory stick is actually a lot of memory and lets you download a ton of content and still have 6GB free. For people needing more space, i'd be interested to know how much of their HDD is actually being taken up by content that's not optional game installs.

Oh I know, its the same for the HDD. I just mean I'd like to do installs on USB since then I won't have to transfer stuff off the HDD onto USB. Less work, you know?

I don't know why everyone is in love with this idea, it doesn't make storage much cheaper. Even if you pickup 16 gig sticks at exactly 20$ a pop, thats 80$ for around 60 gigs, roughly the same space and cost as just buying a harddrive from microsoft.

If that makes the 360 looks amazing, you'll love the PS3....you can use any laptop drive with any PS3 model, any USB flash drive or cable, really any USB device from headsets to keyboards, and oh, let's not forget SanDisk flash memory.... Plus you can transfer a variety of file types between different systems....
