The Vita Death Spiral Continues

Seems retailers are giving up on the vita

Chances are that if you’re in a store that sells PS Vita games, their merchandising will be pathetic. We’ve seen Walmarts with no more than two copy of any game, GameStops who didn’t even bother to alphabetize them and of course Targets that stuck them in an end-cap. That was bad enough, but now Best Buy seems so intensely uninterested in selling PS Vita games that they’ve dropped the trade-in value of every PS Vita game to a Dollar.

Best Buy is not interested in dealing in pre-owned PS Vita games, which is a bit surprisingly given the pure profit to be made in the sector. With the console’s section continually decreasing at retail locations, however, it seems like that the retailer doesn’t want to devote any shelf space to the console that they aren’t obligated too — yet another bad sign for the console’s retail prospects.

Looks like the vita doesn't even have worthwhile games for retailers :P

Sad news when they don't even wanna handle used games. But it makes sense. Seems like most Vita fans only want the free PS+ games.

I was interested in the 64 GB card but decided I'd rather keep both kidneys.

I'd get the bundle that includes the 4gb one included in price. And besides with the quality and value of the memory cards themselves, it isn't an issue with me.

Vita games are as rare as gold dust where I live, only place you can really get them is online.

Whenever retail games do come out for Vita in Target and Best Buy (and aren't remasters), their prices crash incredibly hard within weeks.

Retail and Vita haven't mixed for years now.

Such a shame. It was so cool to start with, and so disappointing in practice. Games... :(

Its sad that the memory costs twice as much as the console itself.

It is quite sad.... I purchased a 32GB Micro SD card for $15.99 for my New 3DS today and decided to look at how much a 4GB Vita memory cards is running for these days.....

Yeah the physical library of vita games outside of japan sucks ass, can't really argue against that.

I think the Vita is a machine worthy buying if you are willing to invest in a big memory card and the downloadables (PsP, Ps1, indies) because they'res a pretty big catalog of those. But yeah unfortunately the physical library is very underwhelming and that usually puts people off from getting one if they're just casually browsing a game-stop or something.

*EDIT: Well it does have Persona 4 Golden, Tearaway, and a few other good physical titles. Most of them look like junk or ported from home console games though.

Damn, Tesco is selling Vita for £50 (probably liquidating their remaining inventory), Best Buy likely liquidating their Vita inventory, guess people will just have to go to a Sony store to get one... oh shit, they're closing those too.

I buy all my vita games off the PS store. I haven't even looked at other retailers.

I know your trolling. But 4gb is not enough space, especially if you have PS+ (I tried). I had to get to a 32gb...., which I'm ashamed to admit I paid like $70 for a while back. Seems the price hasn't went down.
