Red and blue had the Missingno glitch that eliminated some of the crappier parts of playing pokemon (the grind).

And Gold and Silver just had so much stuff in it, it was bursting at its seams.

"The sum of its parts".It is simply outstanding.

I also liked a lot Ruby/Sapphire.

Pearl/Diamond was a little inferior as I expected (too many strange evolutions and legendary pkmns), but the new system that divides attack in phisical/special regardless of type is a blessing. Shame that you need FC for the online.
