Before cows and lemmings go psycho on me, reread my topic title. Nowhere did I bash your system or games of choice, and nowhere did I say the Wii had the best line-up, so don't flip out. And yes, I agree the Wii has had a slow start when it comes to software, but so did the 360 and PS3.

The way I see it Nintendo has 3 system sellers this year for the hardcore/casuals: Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and Metroid Prime Corruptions (I know Metroid isn't as big of a system seller as the other 2, but if the controls end up working great, then I could see it selling extremely well.)

Then I see 3 system sellers this year for the non-gamers: Big Brain Academy, Wii music and Wii Heath Pack. Do not underestimate these games because look at what wii sports has done for the system

Then you have tons of just great games for the rest of 2007:  Super Paper Mario, No More Heroes, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Mario Strikers Charged, Resident Evil: UC, Fire Emblem, Opoona, MySims, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Animal Crossing, Guitar Hero, Dewy's Adventure, Manhunt 2, Battalion Wars 2, Project HAMMER, Forever Blue, Sword of Legendia, Dragon Quest Swords, The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, Heatseeker, Harvest Moon Wii, . I would love to put Sadness but I think it got bumped to 2008. And who knows what else Nintendo or other developers have in store. I mean new games a being announced every few weeks now. There is now a rumor that NiGTS is coming to the Wii. So anything is possible.

Then don't forget all the VC titles yet to be released: Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, SoTN, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Star Fox 64, Mega Man series, Pilotwings 64, DK64, and many more. Plus all the great games that have already been released.

For a systems first year, I say that is a pretty decent list of games right there.

Oh they'll still come in and chime about how the Wii is the "suxors", but if nothing else it will show how pathetic they are as this post does not make any negative comment against any other console.

If only all posters could be like this.

The Wii is going to have a great line up for the second half of this year.  If people don't like those games, fine.  That's their opinion.  However my opinion is that several of those are going to be very good.

Bolded and underlined are games I am looking forward to. Others are on a wait and see basis. Good list though, way to make a thorough post!

Good post and points. It's all a matter of opinion really:What may be great to you might not be great to others and vice versa.Whilst I dont disagree that Mario and Wii Health Pack will sell well, you have to realise that these games arent appealing to the hardcore crowd. Add in the fact that Nintendo havent as yet announced any hardcore game aside from MP3,the Wii's lineup can be considered as weak to some....

I'd argue that Mario has a strong amount of hardcore appeal. As much as Metroid, God of War, Zelda, Gears of War, Halo, etc? No, but still a strong amount of appeal. And good post, OP. I know there are a bunch of titles coming for the Wii second half of this year I really want. Even this quarter we're about to enter has some games I want. Super Paper Mario, Pokemon, Heatseeker, and Mario Party all look great. As good as the PS3 or 360? Too early to say. A lot of 3rd parties have games under wraps (look at Capcom saying today they have several unannounced projects and that at least one will be announced in the upcoming weeks), so who knows how 2007 will end. Oh, and if the NiGHTS game is true, that's sheer awesome right there. I'd buy that game in a heartbeat.

I was debating whether or not to put pics, but I thought the fanboys would just come in here and look at the graphics and say they suck, which they don't, instead of actually reading what I had to say, so I just decided not to post any. Trying to outsmart the fanboys/haters.

There is a lot more to complain about actually. Especially all those low A titles and people actually putting "Wii Health" as a game on a line up list. Wake me up when it's lineup can ever even touch the 360. In games, online, or graphics.

I agree, but think about this for a sec:How many announced Wii titles can be considered hardcore/not something a casual gamer will get into?To be quite frank, not that many,if i'm not mistaken, there's Resident Evil,MP3,Manhunt,Sadness,and Disaster: DOC. But if you do the same for Ps3/360,you'll find that there's plenty of hardcore and casual games in their respective upcoming titles.

I appreciate the lack of pics. I find them distracting, and usually poor indicators as to the games true potential.

Maybe that lineup works for you, but most of it seems rather mediocre to me.

Out of your secondary list (the one without SMG, SSBB, and MP3), there are only three or four games on it that I'm interested in.

It is all in a matter of preference. Some would call the RPGs in the Wiis line-up hardcore. Others would call Paper Mario hardcore. I deem a game "casual" when it is not time-intensive and its simple. If you can pick up a game and play for five minutes and go somewhere, great, but its a casual experience to me (examples would be Tetris, Hexic, Uno, Minesweeper, mini-game collections, you get the idea).
Games that appeal to a broad audience simply do not count as non-hardcore to me for that reason alone. Halo and Halo 2 are good examples. The average non-gamer would be horrible, but since they have broad appeal across gaming, they are considered "casual". I myself do not agree with that definition at all.

I agree.  Most people on here would just bash the games as sucking based upon the graphics not being in 1080p with 100 trillion polygons and 128 bit textures (!!11!1).

Its becoming painfully obvious to me that the Wii just isn't going to have games geared more towards what I enjoy, as almost nothing on that list really gets me excited. I really wanted one for a while but I just don't know...

No there hasn't been any announcement, but with how SE and Nintendo are getting along lately, I wouldn't see why SE wouldn't put those games on the VC eventually. So really I don't know. I think it would be great if they would because it would expose more people to these excellent games, and maybe more games to these franchises would be made. Frankly, I want to play them again.

To be honest I'm really dissapointed in the Wii's offering. I'm still waiting for games such as rogue leader, eternal darkness, resident evil, viewtifull joe etc. All I see right now is a line up filled with low cost budget games, of which most of them are puzzles. The only stand outs are the nintendo franchise games we've been playing for over 10 years. Right now i'm still playing zelda, wario ware got boring quick and wii sports is a fun gimmick for a short while. It seems nintendo has turned sony on us and is selling on hardware only with low budget games to make it seem they are trying. At least ms is pumping out some high class, high budget games almost every month.

True that. Always good to see some smart, thoughful posters on SW. Keep up the good work DualShockin. And as for the waiting game, well, that's one multiplat nobody wants to play. But in the end we all end up breaking down and buying it.

All the games in bold I am planning to buy. The Wii may not have the best line-up but it doesn't have a crappy line-up either. Edit: Oh and awsome post

[QUOTE="Dualshockin"]Good post and points. It's all a matter of opinion really:What may be great to you might not be great to others and vice versa.Whilst I dont disagree that Mario and Wii Health Pack will sell well, you have to realise that these games arent appealing to the hardcore crowd. Add in the fact that Nintendo havent as yet announced any hardcore game aside from MP3,the Wii's lineup can be considered as weak to some....

mario is hardcore

Microsoft seems to like it. Look at the excitement for Castlevania: SOTN on XBLA. Sony seems to like it too. They even made downloading PS1 games onto your PS3 a significant point of their E3 press conference.

Why are you including VC games like we've never played them before?

The PS3 and 360 line-up has nothing to do with this topic. The TC is just explaining the Wii's line-up isn't crappy.

Do you mean how 360/PS3 get away with releasing these games from several generations ago and count them as part of their "line-up". Halo 3 MGS 4 GTA IV Final Fantasy XIII plus spinoffs GT 4 plus one on PS3 Dead or Alive 4 Devil May Cry 4 Tekken 6 Resident Evil 5 plus spinoffs Virtua Fighter 4 Ratchet and Clank 4 plus one on PSP and new one on PS3 Jak and Daxter 3 and you know one is coming to PS3 Of course some of Nintendo's games are from earlier generations, but who cares. The reason these games have numbers next to their names is because they are great, fun, and entertaining franchises that sell really well. Don't get me wrong, I want new and original games to be made as well, but I still want my tried and true old franchises.

I counted 5 games that I wanted just from that list.  Thats makes the purchase of any console worth it in my book.

I think you missed the point. He wasn't talking about sequels when referring to last gen games.
