[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]It's actually managed to catapult Nintendo from 3rd place last gen, to 1st place this gen. Nintendo has reclaimed the glory it knew in it's NES and SNES days. An impressive feat to be sure.Darth-Samus
Very well said, especially from someone who looks like they're not a huge Nintendo fan.
I love my Wii and am so happy with Nintendo finally back on top. They deserve the success. But I also recognize it's slowness with the AAA quality. Next to Twilight Princess at launch we basically had to wait till Aug for Metroid Prime 3 to start the onslaught of great and beautiful next-gen looking games we are now in the middle of.
So overall I'll give it 8.7/10
Don't confuse my Halo 3 sig for me being an Xbox loyalist or a Nintendo basher :) I had once owned a SNES and briefly the Gamecube before moving on to Xbox. I had lived through those old "glory days" I spoke of and greatly loved the games on SNES, including FF 2 and 3 (US numbering), Actraiser, Contra, Ghouls'n'Ghosts, R-Type, Gradius (just about all the side scrolling space shooters), Secret of Mana, Battle Toads, Ninja Turtles, Metroid, Zelds LttP, Donky Kong Country, Star Fox, Star Wars Trilogy, Splatter House, Final Fight, SF2, MK2 (hated the non blood policy they had with MK1), and by far my fave game on that system, Castlevania 4.
*I ommited the "Super" in all those titles because that would have gotten too damn repetetive, lol*
I fully appreciate the greatness in gaming they had, and how they resuurected the industry after the big crash. But I also have to acknowledge how they went into a decline after the N64, and made bad format decisions (like cartridges when the whole industry had moved on to CDs), their loss after loss of 3rd party support, which lead to their slide into 3rd place.
So like I said, they managed to completely turn things around with the Wii and I gotta give props to them for that :)
