Has worse online then PS2.

Basically no 3rd party support except for gimmicks like pony adventures.

However, I'm not going to defend this. When you bring the tired kiddie/casual thing into it and say that the graphics are worse than Gamecube, I feel it is flamebait.

i agree with almost everything you say except for the first party titles available for the wii which i think are generally very good. whilst some of them may not be my cup of tea (metroid, smash bros) it's clear from the critical acclaim and generally positive feedback that these are good games.

i do find the wii is hugely lacking in the games department though which is why i don't understand it's popularity among serious gamers and not consumers who have become first time gamers through the wii

If SMG and MP3:C can look amazing, I dont care. Developers aren't putting effort. SMG has proven that Wii game can look visually stunning.

Well, this one is just plain wrong. Yes, online is limited, but its def. better.

Again, wrong. Although it doesn't have a big jump, compare SMS beside SMG and you'll see a big difference.

No Third party support:
It has a lot of potentially great exclusives coming out. A lot of new IPs, so no one knows really if they'll be amazing or not. Though a lot have very good ideas behind them like Little King's Story and De Blob

Targeted at kids and casuals:
Same can be said about PS3/360. Both have appeal to both audiences. Wii has more appeal to those two, which isn't a bad thing. The only people who complain about this are elitists who feel that anything that is mainstream is automatically ruining the industry and bad.

People will enjoy it, so why do you care? not everyone has to be hardcore.

The Wii is a video game console. It is not trying to be a super computer like the PS3 or a multimedia device like the 360. That is nintendos philosophy, deal with it.

The only gimmicky motion controlled game I've played is TP(first parties). Others have used it very effectively like MP3:C or Zack and Wiki

That's who they target, with their marketing and their games -- again, saying otherwise is just plain denial.

Maybe you don't understand Haziq, why gamers such as myself feel threatened by the Wii's popularity; it's all simple really. You have two products, game casual and game hardcore -- casual outsells hardcore by 10 times, and because of this... more casual prooducts are made and more attention is focused on the gamer which doesn't take it seriously, the gamers who have been with Nintendo for the long run, are now almost being ignored -- thrown aside to make room for the money making casuals. This is all business Haziq, and when you have a product which is making you billions, you're going to make more of than product.

I never owned an original xbox -- never really knew anyone who did so I cant say, never seen anything with my own eyes. However, I don't put a lot of importance on graphic's, even with the 360/PS3/PC.

Many people have been saying the Wii has a drought -- I've bought about 8 Wii games this year and I'm getting 2 more for the rest of the year. I'll also be getting my 360 so whenever one has a drought of games I want I can play the other. I dont need a game every month like some people imply here on the forums. I dont have the time.

Yeah, the 360 and PS3 dont target the Kids/casuals as their primary audience. With the Wii nintendo went after an open 'water' of consumers, casuals/non gamers -- smart business decision, however, they still have games that appeal to their core nintendo fans like their primary franchises. Those along with exclusives like LKS, De Blob, MadWorld are enough for me to fully enjoy my Wii.

I hear what your saying -- you want the core game to sell more than the casual game. That will never be the case though. Different things appeal to different people, more casual games are made because there are more casual gamers. Just because Wii Sports Resort or Wii Music will sell well doesn't mean that we're going to see core developers switching from making halo to say Halo sports or something :P. What we will see unfortunately is a bunch of clones. It's already happening with the Wii -- Deca Sports for example.

So what if Nintendo is selling an over priced console? They are a business. They are out there to make money. They are not willing to lose money on each console sold. Different business strategy than Microsoft and Sony. In the end Nintendo is a business and not your friend. They want your money.

Nintendo made a smart move with the Wii. Product differentiation. It might be considered a gimmicky, but I truly believe it is the next biggest step in expanding the way we play games. The other thing that I think is the biggest and best thing to happen to console gaming is Xbox Live. That and the Wii mote to me are the two best things to happen this gen.

This is the second time I'm writing this because my laptop decided it would go back a page -_-;;

I'll just correct what was wrong:

1. The wii does have SOME 3rd party support. It is true that it's laughable though.

2. The wii has graphics on par with the xbox, and above PS2.

3. Mario and Zelda are pretty universal when it comes to age groups.

No, it doesn't. The PS2's online play wasn't too bad, in fact the only difference between the Xbox 360's and the Wii/PS3's is that $50 you have to spend. What's so bad about it?

Smash Bros is kind of casual because you would only play it with your friends at aprty of something and is that all you could list?. Also Nintendo are the makers and they target the console at kids with games like Wii music and Animal Crosiing.

Poor value compared to 360 and PS3, all it does it play things that are meant to play games while PS3 and 360 are also multimedia machines and HD.

Last time I checked, that was the point of a game system. Plus the PS3 and Xbox360 are more money than the Wii because it has more features. And if the PS3 and Xbox 360 were for HD, why don't they include the HDMI port?

Explain the Mii's, Photo channel, AVI support, Internet Browser, ect.

Yea it is the main point but more features = more value. Mii's are stupid and took 5 seconds to think of and the rest of those features aren't worth mentioning. They do have a HDMI port anyway which proves wii is your only console haha.

Super Smash Bros Brawl, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, plus the VC titles like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Super Mario Bros 3, ect.

Thanks for making a list to prove my point all those games are kid friendly in cartoon like graphics.

Games like Zelda which you boast are good are nothing compared to revolutionary games pushing technology forward like Fallout 3.

Twilight Princess and Galaxy are mostly Motion Control. SSBB, now could you imagine that using Motion Controls? No. The gamecube TP was better without motion control and Galaxy only used motion control for the sake of it wasn't needed.

Graphics wise yes, but nothing else. Was Motion Sensitivity available last gen? Well, yes, but to a much lesser decree to the Wii's controls.

Wii's motion controls are very basic and would defiantly be possible last gen.

That is a lame comeback considering your supporting a console filled with absolute trash games much worse then sonic 06 and that game sucked but still had better graphics and technology then all Wii games.
