Wether you want to admit it, motion sensing does have a future in games. Like wise, you also have to admit the Wii mote leaves alot of room for improvement. So what are some practical ways to improve on motion sensing, and by practical, I mean things you could add that wouldn't make the whole process cumbersome, having to put on dozens of tiny electrodes to play a game, would prolly never catch on.

So I'll throw a few out there to start...

  1. The device and game should uses all the movement data (motion, angle, force, path) to calucate the results in game.
  2. Both hands are needed for inputs (button presses, analog stick movements) therefor, the two device (i.e. wiimote and nunchuk) need to be independent of eachother, remove the cable attaching them and free up a full range of motion
  3. Possibly use ankle bracelets for inputting motion from your legs. (Tennis in Wii sports is fine and all, but not being able to move my character about the court on my own is disappointing)
  4. If a game or activity in a game doesn't really benefit from motion sensing, then don't tack it on for novelty's sake.

How about your ideas?

Champ Kind: The bottom line is you've been spending a lot of time with this lady, Ron. You're a member of the Channel Four News Team.
Ron Burgundy: That's a given.
Champ Kind: We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much. I miss being with you, I miss being near you. I miss your laugh. I miss your scent; I miss your musk. When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together.
Brian Fantana: Take it easy, Champ. Why don't you stop talking for a while.

Come on, anybody, you all think the Wii mote and SIXAXIS is the best it's ever gonna get?

1. agreed. I'm sure as devs get more time with it, better software will be written. 2. yeah the cable can get pretty annoying in some high action times. I think i heard some 3rd party are working on a new nunchuck that doesn't need a cord. 3. I don't know if the ankle thing would be the best for tennis. I can see it being good for some things like fighters but for sports, it's going to be hard to tell what direction you want to go because your legs and eyes are often not going to same way. you'd need something else to tell direction. 4. I agree with this. or at least make it an option like some games are doing. the main thing i'd like to see is devs breaking out of the model of previous games and just adding controller aspects later one. I'd like them to design games with motion sensing already in mind.
