Not exactly. The demographic for the Wii is casual gamer. The target demographic for the 360 and PS3 are hardcore gamers. 360 and PS3 are competing for the same user pool. Just aimed at the title of this thread:
The Wii needs more love? Sorry, but with every videogame media source bum-******* it constantly down our throats, I doubt that the gamecube with a new controller needs more love.

EA and Ubisoft are focusing on the Wii

I don't see how the wii needs more love, I think if anything, the PS3 needs more loveWINDWAKER1
ps3 is dead int he water, let it die and give the wii your love

yep. the other two didn't stand much of a chance compared to the consoles last gen in terms of the size of the target demographic. they would have shrunk the industry.

Well that settles it. Let's move onto next-gen now. The Wii has done all it needs to do.
I hope you were being as sarcastic as me...

So, you have a way to differentiate a casual and hardcore gamer? That isn't opinion? Please, inform me.JandurinI guess casual and hardcore may be too much of a controversial way to word it. A better way would be, "The Wii is targeting first time gamers, a whole new demopgrahic. The 360 and PS3 are targeting old demographics.". I guess that makes it a little more polit correct?

hmmm old demographic. would that include most of the ps2 demographic? because i don't think they do.

and let us not forget the ds demographic. It consists of non gamers that like brain age and nintendogs. But lo and behold quality games like castlevania and Zelda: Phantom hourglass are still being made. Care to explain how the casual gamer ruined these two platforms again? Do the rules somehow magically change for the wii?

Thats exactly my point.appealing to casuals and non-gamers =/= the end of quality games.
[QUOTE="AHUGECAT"]The Wii is not aiming at the same demographic as the 360, because of this the 360 and PS3 don't have to worry about the Wii taking any major exclusives from third parties.Duckman5
This is true.
i don't think so. Dragonquest has shown us that devs will go to were the money is. the exclusivies already in development are no worry but if the wii keeps selling like this then future sequels of major titles will be lost.
[QUOTE="Iloverouge"]becaUSE it has no games.shadow_hosi
so thats why its sold over twice as many as ps3?
slaes>games.

If a Dev wants to make as much money as possible they can create a game thats specific for the Wii, and the Wii-mote, or they can create a multiplat game between the xbox360, ps3, and the PC. Until the Wii has a larger user base than all 3 of these combined theres still a larger chance of making more money on a multiplat game between the xbox360, ps3 and pc.
We have seen previous titles on the Gamecube like Soulcalibur and Resident Evil, but now the Wii wont neccesarily be getting the next installments.

i disagree jet. a game doesent have to sell as well on the wii compared to the other platforms since it is cheaper to make games for it (not dirt cheap mind...were still talking between 8 and 15 million per game roughly). at the mo the userbase is still to small for devs to consider moving their majors over to the wii. however if sales keep going the way there going then wii is just going to get more and more tempting for them. it could become a case of wii being the primary platform and the devs just up the graphics and change the controls for the 360,ps3,PC versions. its what they did last gen. PS2 was the main platform due to its huge market share (it was also technically inferior so it was easier to get the game running on the other consoles). games would then just be plonked onto the GC and xbox....maybe with a few enhancments here and there. theres nothing to stop them doing it again.
still its a long race. were in for some interesting times.

Well the Difference between the ps2, and xbox are not even close to the difference between the Wii, and (xbox 360, ps3)I wouldnt be using them to compare the the situation we have now. I doubt we will see games that are created on the Wii then upgraded to be put on the xbox360, or ps3. It would be much more efficient, and easierto create a game for the PS3 or xbox 360,and downgrade it to the Wii.

i know the hardware gap is far bigger this time but that really doesent mean very much from a business perspective imho. assuming the wii takes a majority market share and assuming that 3rd parties see even more action on the wii in terms of sales (which are big assumption at the mo) it will become top priority for the publishers. at the end of the day it all boils down to money. cheaper dev costs combined with a bigger userbase makes CEOs eyes go all googely.
also getting a 360 or PS3 game to the wii would be a mommoth task. alot of the code written for those platforms has to go out the window. even the shader code goes...the wii uses a different tech called TEVs. textures have to be redone so that they take less memory, levels would have to be redesigned so that they can fit. all models have to be simplified and so on. imagine trying to get oblivion onto the wii. the devs would basically have to rebuild the entire game using morrowinds engine. a massive job. it took capcom a year to get RE4 up and running on the PS2 since they had to try and figure out what to cut back on.
in contrast its alot easier to go up. all the tech in the wii can be used on the 360 and PS3 (hell they could probably emulate wii games from a processing standpoint to be honest). its just a case of adding the details to the models and textures and plonking in some extra special effects n stuff. they dont need to worry about level design, they might need to make some adjustments to the engine so that it takes advantage of the extra horsepower but nothing major and controls would obhiously need a reconfig. basically anything developed on the wii would work on the 360 and PS3 from a technical standpoint (sans a few adjustments to the code due to different hardware n compilers n stuff). it doesent work the other way.
