The Wii U has 1 year to convince gamers as to why the system is worth it it.
The Wii U is a massive risk not for only the consumers but for Nintendo as well.
Before you flame me, think about this....
Why should anyone with a PS3 or 360 should buy a Wii U at launch.
The Wii wasn't a great system and people aren't craving for another version for it, it's long forgotten.
Nintendo still hasn't established a legitimate online service like that of PSN, XBL, and Steam.
360/PS3 owners will get the same games as the Wii other than exclusives.
The Wii U at launch has a bunch of games people played and beat months ago like ME3 and Batman.
The Wii U also isn't that cheap, expect MS/Sony to drop the prices of their consoles again in order to counter the Wii U launch.
Exclusives to the PS3/360 (although some of these are specific per console) like Halo 4, The Last of Us, Gears of War judgement, Forza, Dishonered, GTA V, and Dead or Alive 5 will be keep owners of these consoles satisfied for awhile to come.
I fail to see why anyone who is in the current gen as in PS3/360 should buy a Wii U especially since the PS4/Xbox 3 will be coming soon with very powerful hardware.
There is a risk of the Wii U ending up like the Wii (no 3rd party support) once PS4/Xbox 3 come out.
Nintendo literally has 1 year to prove to gamers that their console is worth it otherwise it will flop harder than the Gamecube (which wasn't a bad system) in sales.
The casuals are gone and they actually need to deliver this time, their company (Nintendo) is on the line here.
