I love how people hate the controller for being new and innovative but fail to realise how useful it will be..

Little Jimmy wants to play his game but his dad wants to watch TV.
360 or Ps3 the Little Jimmy would throw a fit and throw his controller at his hard working father harming him and then cuss him out.

Wii U Little Jimmy would calmly switch the action to his screen and respect his fathers wishes.

Tell me how does a 360 or Ps3 controller satisfy diverse interests competing for the same television screen?

It's the weakest boon for the 3DS controller.

I'd rather it be put to creative use than just stream the same thing on screen.

Depending on the TV, it could be cheaper than the Wii U.

How often are people in this situation and why can't they just play handhelds if they don't want to play on a TV :?

Is this some kind of sick joke !?!

The WiiU is just a bigger version of the DS/3DS, Nintendo will be selling the same product to the fans over again ( with a little update on the graphic side ).

And to answer your question, most modern TVs have picture to picture, so you can actually watch 2-4 different things on one TV !!!

It's an Ipad rip-off with more control options. Where is the innovation?

3DS has 3D without glasses.

Wii U has controller with a touch screen in the middle...

How the **** do you not see innovation in either? Let me guess Kinect and PS3 Move are the innovative...

I'm certain that the bulk of gamers on this board will not realize the potential of the Wii-U controller until its out. People here tend to be lacking on imagination and foresight and strongly detest any true steps forward for gaming that doesn't equal more pixels and better AA at render time.

Maybe this is just my imagination, maybe i'm just going crazy but I -- Imagine -- If Sony, or Microsoft announced, a gaming enhanced, Internet connected, HD streaming tablet, with motion controls, built in speakers, a built in webcam, that's able to operate completely independent from the TV, designed from the ground up to enhance the gaming experience, it would be regarded, without question, as a cutting edge product worthy of the eighth generation of gaming consoles.

Here's what's funny: Your sig is capitalizing off of the "lol Sony copies" joke that runs rampant in a forum where Nintendo fans apparently don't understand technology. Which is fine. But it's pre-emptively accusing Sony of copying technology that they already initiated, between the PS3 and the PSP and that will naturally be shared with the Vita.

It's terribly ironic. If roles were reversed and Nintendo had used "remote play," Nintendo fans would undoubtedly be crying "Sony copies" at the tablet controller design.

Jimmy needs to learn how to not get what he wants without throwing a fit. Jimmy can't play Wii U because his dad is using the TV? Perfect. That's just what Jimmy needs.

Yes it is perfect because he can switch the action to his controller screen and thus harmony in the household is maintained. I do not know about you but if I have kids I would buy them the Wii U. I do not like listening or watching childeren yell and ****.

Let me clear up my sig, because for some reason, you brought that up in a scenario which had nothing to do with my reply.

Myt sig is a mindless crack at the long history between the two rivals SCE and Nintendo. You would have to be a massive Sony fanboy to not be able to see the pattern. Show any unbiased person the history between the two, and it's blatantly obvious what there impressions would be, no question.

First of all, assuming that the remote play function between the PS3 could mimmick the function of the Wii U controller is rediculous. The remote play function was not aimed to reach the capabilites of the Wii U controller, vice versa.

In the same way that the Remote play function did not aim to reach tha capabilities of the GBA-GC cross platform abilities, which the Wii U bears more resembelance to.

I think you're just in the mood to argue. I mean really. As time goes on, technology advances and people are often afforded more luxury because of it. Are you going to **** at every kid that doesn't have to walk to school these days? Should we be ****ed at because we are able to post from our PERSONAL COMPUTERS and argue about video games? Hey I bet you don't have to hunt and gather your own food you self entitled ****!

There could be billions of examples of course. Stop grasping for straws.

First of all, assuming that the remote play function between the PS3 could mimmick the function of the Wii U controller is rediculous. The remote play function was not aimed to reach the capabilites of the Wii U controller, vice versa.

The "pattern" is silly and reeks of fanboyism itself.

The remote play feature was designed to be able to play the games away from the TV. That's what the Wii tablet will do. No, they're not exactly the same, but they don't have to be to reach the same type of "lol copying" BS that runs rampant around here. Likewise, Sony's rumble and analog features weren't done exactly the same. And just like analog and rumble were handled better by Sony, remote play will likely be handled better by Nintendo.

The point is that none of it f*cking matters. Modern technology is based on copying.

Yes it is perfect because he can switch the action to his controller screen and thus harmony in the household is maintained. I do not know about you but if I have kids I would buy them the Wii U. I do not like listening or watching childeren yell and ****.

sandbox3d

It's precisely this type of parenting that leads kids grow up to be self entitled pieces of sh*t. :| If you cant deal with kids being upset, then you shouldn't be a parent.

If technology progresses to the point where it removes the experience of Children having to deal with not getting what they want entirely, then we'll be in a bad place as a society. I'm not trying to suggest that the Wii U is inherently stopping children from growing or anything like that, but the example in his post was disturbing.

God would you guys get off the spoiled kids discussion? There are countless factors to take into account regarding a childs development into adolescence and then adult hood and countless perspectives on what is considered spoiled.

You guys are trying a bit too hard to hate on the OP.

It's an Ipad rip-off with more control options.

SuperFlakeman

Its phsyical design absolutely, it functions more like a DS though. Two screens, stylus etc.

You don't have to give into this. The idea of operating onto a flat screen is not so novel that anyone who comes out with any sort of tablet should be accused of "copying" let alone a "rip-off."

Wii-U controller = WIN Touch screen management of inventory and tactics on the fly without cluttering up the HUD? This is nigh unprecedented with consoles.

It certainly wasn't the best OP, but the current counter argument is exponentially more stupid.
