No doubt the Arcade has some great looking titles coming out (Castle Crashers, Worms HD) but the Wii has only been out for 3 months and it already has a good 30 games more than XBLA and many more "must buys".

Hmm. If M$ releases the Marathon series on XBOX Live, I'll be sold. I have yet to buy a game, but nothing has really gotten me excited yet. If Marathon made it's way to the console, though...

I have to agree with you XBLA is a joke compared to the Wii's VC.

The games released over Arcade are changed or enhanced in some way. Multiplayer, enhanced/retouched graphics, widescreen and HD support, leaderboards, etc.

VC is just a ridiculously overpriced ROM service. Just like the idiots that pay 99 cents for song on iTunes when, let's face it, the music is free elsewhere. The VC is worse though - because the games cost 5 to 10 bucks each!

Paying five to ten bucks for straight up ROMS is idiocy (especially when the actual physical game itself is cheaper 90% of the time,) plain and simple.

Thats cause VC is just emulated games from Nintendo's old consoles. Microsoft doesn't have a huge cataloge of games from past consoles plus they have new games and online play. Online play + new games>games I already own and played for years.

Well it is the only LEGAL way to play most of these games aside from their original game. Although I do agree they are overpriced.

Well, for those of us that obey the law - the VC is the best bet. :) Thanks, though.

In fact the VC rocks so much (and the current releases are not many) that I'm playing my VC games more than my Wii games, Golden Axe, Zelda, Link to the Past, Super Mario. I never had a NES or a Turbographix so it is nice to go back and play these.

Yeah, it saves me from having to have a set up with 8 systems hooked up at all times just so I can play F-Zero again.

I do wish that games were compatible with online play through system-friends codes. I'd really love to play classic Mario Bros with people online, that game is so sweet! You even get to flip the crab on it's back to hit it's weakpoint!

Well excuse me for obtaining my music legally. iTunes is a great deal, and they come in the near CD quality AAC format. 9.99 for a CD instead of 17 or more at a record store? You can keep your P2P music... MP3's sound terrible...

My analogy was a little bad then, because 5 old NES games that cost a total of 15 bucks on ebay will cost you 25 - 50 on VC.

Ripoff, ripoff, ripoff. Regardless of where you get your music, people HAVE been getting these games for free, perfectly emulated, for several years. I have a buddy that has a modded XBox. I'm not encouraging or condoning piracy here, just stating the simple fact that he does have one - but the thing has every NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, SNES, TG16, Lynz, 2600/5200/7800, Sega CD, GB, GBA, ColecoVision, the original PC Dooms, Hexen, and a few I'm sure I'm forgetting and they're all 100% perfectly emulated. His XBox is worth 1,999,999 dollars according to the VC pricing system.

The sad reality is the VC only seems like a good deal for people who don't know any better. Luckily for Nintendo there seems to be a lot of those people.

Link? What 5 Nes games? Have you considered shipping? The condition of those games? (I bet that all the original battery on LoZ are death by now) and the price for a Nes if you don't have one? And why again Piracy? I can get Windows Vista for $5 or donwload for free! Omg, M$ is ripping us!!!!

The VC would be worthwhile if it added something extra - it doesn't. It's just a straight up overpriced ROM middleman. For example, Smash on Arcade supports HD, widescreen, and ONLINE play. if they had just released a Smash ROM would it be worth it to buy it? Absolutely not. Is it worth it to buy it now? You bet. They actually *gasp* added something compelling.

Again - you're ignoring the fact that some people, such as myself, are aware of emulators and mods - yet, prefer not to break the law. :)

Yes, I have. Also, my two original Zeldas are still working perfectly (as of about 4 months ago, the last time I checked.) 99% of NES games are dirt cheap. They average about 2 -3 bucks each even with shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-OF-12-ESSENTIAL-NES-GAMES-All-Tested_W0QQitemZ300075997095QQihZ020QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Those ar the first two auctions that came up. You can spend all day looking at similar auctions.

Be that as it may, the ROMS (which is all Nintendo is selling you) can be had for free. Illegal, yes - but that's the [perhaps unfortunate] reality of the internet. Hell, Nintendo isn't even selling anything physical, they're just overcharging for ROMS. Highway robbery. Like I said, think about "my buddy's" modded XBox. According to Nintendo it's worth about 4 billion dollars.

Please.

Haha, OK. Your "local hobby shop" is ripping you off, just like VC. Took me less than 10 seconds to find these auctions (and they end soon, these aren't the listing prices, these will be the ending prices) and they can even be found for cheaper on EBay.

so....360 games blow away Wii games....that's what matters...not little arcade games and old games...what about the now?chikenfriedrice
Yes because a 3 month old system SHOULD release 20 AAA games within that amount of time. (20 was a bit of an exaggeration)

[QUOTE="Alucard-Shat"][QUOTE="musicalmac"]Well excuse me for obtaining my music legally. iTunes is a great deal, and they come in the near CD quality AAC format. 9.99 for a CD instead of 17 or more at a record store? You can keep your P2P music... MP3's sound terrible...HeedleGlavin

My analogy was a little bad then, because 5 old NES/SNES games that cost a total of 15 bucks on ebay will cost you 25 - 50 on VC.

Ripoff, ripoff, ripoff. Regardless of where you get your music, people HAVE been getting these games for free, perfectly emulated, for several years. I have a buddy that has a modded XBox. I'm not encouraging or condoning piracy here, just stating the simple fact that he does have one - but the thing has every NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, SNES, TG16, Lynx,  2600/5200/7800, Sega CD, GB, GBA, ColecoVision, the original PC Dooms, Hexen, every old arcade, CPS1/CPS2 game, and a few I'm sure I'm forgetting and they're all 100% perfectly emulated. His XBox is worth 1,999,999 dollars according to the VC pricing system.

The sad reality is the VC only seems like a good deal for people who don't know any better. Luckily for Nintendo there seems to be a lot of those people.

And Japan's Wii VC blows away all the other Wii VCs. >_>

Jandurin
Sigh. I want ALL the games.

All games will be released. Of course the Wii VC blows away XBLA, VS has got SNES, which is one of the best consoles ever. Then you got N64 with some great games. etc.

Xbox Live may be the greatest online service of the 3 (can we even say the Wii supports online play at this point?) but I have to say the Wii VC blows away the Arcade.

Microsoft struggles to release even 2 games a month yet Nintendo release 3-4 games a WEEK, and at least one of those is a must buy. Some people say that this is because MS is trying to update the old games and adding online play and new features but all this seams to do is break perfectly good arcade games (SF2 and Contra anyone?).

No doubt the Arcade has some great looking titles coming out (Castle Crashers, Worms HD) but the Wii has only been out for 3 months and it alreayd has a good 30 games more than XBLA and many more "must buys".

Alucard-Shat

The games released over Arcade are changed or enhanced in some way. Multiplayer, enhanced/retouched graphics, widescreen and HD support, leaderboards, etc.

VC is just a ridiculously overpriced ROM service. Just like the idiots that pay 99 cents for song on iTunes when, let's face it, the music is free. The VC is worse though - because the games cost 5 to ten bucks each!

Paying five to ten bucks for straight up ROMS is idiocy (especially when the actual physical game itself is cheaper 90% of the time,) plain and simple.

Well excuse me for obtaining my music legally. iTunes is a great deal, and they come in the near CD quality AAC format. 9.99 for a CD instead of 17 or more at a record store? You can keep your P2P music... MP3's sound terrible...

Link? What 5 Nes games? Have you considered shipping? The condition of those games? (I bet that all the original battery on LoZ are death by now) and the price for a Nes if you don't have one?

Yes, I have. Also, my two original Zeldas are still working perfectly (as of about 4 months ago, the last time I checked.) 99% of NES games are dirt cheap.

Please.

The aucition isn't over, I bet that LoZ battery is dead, add the price for a nes if you don't have one. I don't live in the US so i can't get them. And again, i can get any computer program for $5 on DVD or free on the net! Omg, M$, Adobe, SUn, Mathworks, etc.. are ripping us!

who cares about old, non-updated emulated games? they put no effort into these. ooooh wow! Nintendo made/licensed some emulators and made their roms available for download  at least on XBLA, they update the graphics, and add price-justifying features like online play, online leaderboards, achievements, etc. and at least XBLA has some original titles.

Yes. Thank you. Not to mention, what's wrong with supporting Nintendo? One less illegal download = one more supporter of Nintendo.

You do realize, that with shipping, one of those is actually going for several dollars MORE than the VC price? Secondly, this is for rights to the game forever, as you can re-download anytime you want. Thirdly, the prices for games are going down on Ebay as people know they can find these games on the VC, now.

You could go on for days.

2: There are millions of Zelda carts on ebay that go for next to nothing - and yes, they still work.

3: Have fun getting hosed, upstanding internet citizen (there's a difference between "stealing" a ROM of a cart no longer in production worth 99 cents and a software program still being made by its parent company worth 800 bucks.)

Uh, did you look at shipping prices for that auction? Apparently not.

Please, and these games cost this much long before the Wii launched. I've been a collector for several years. "The wii causing prices to go down." AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Do you  know how long people have been downloading ROMS? HINT: Long before the Wii.

Other games have reduced in price. And the second auction is going for 4.25 with 4.99 shipping. Costs 8 bucks on VC. Just don't buy the ones that aren't worth it.

OK OK OK, the VC games are a little overpriced, but they are offering convienence and a wide variety of titles you would be hard pressed to find on ebay. Sure Zelda is easy to find, but find me golden Axe and a working Turbographix 16 for less than $50.

Thank you for demonstrating how nonsensical this "VC is overpriced because if you commit a crime you can get the product for free" argument is.
