The Wii's bad reputation

I'm tired of all these people who say the Wii is bad: 1) "Graphics are weak" The Wii is capable of 500,000,000 polygons a second. A pretty capable feat actually. 2) "Bad games." OK, I'll bite, Nintendo will allow ANY game on the system, but it's not their fault we have horrible developers. besides that, They have plenty of Good games. Twilight Prncess, Kirby's Epic Yarn, etc. 3) "It's for kiddies!" While the Wii's target audience is for younger kids, it appeals to all ages! ASk 70,000,000 customers of the Wii. There are plenty off more mature games on the Wii, like Resident Evil. 4) "Motion controls suck." Use the gamecube controller for some of the games kid.keiferm1

All that has been said before, and the hate is still here... better save time and accept the Wii is gonna be hated for the rest of this gen.

It only has a bad rep with fanboys, so they don't count. Real gamers know the Wii has some great games.

I think the Wii is kiddy and I'm not "kiddy". You see, people thinks that "kiddy" is a bad thing, but it's just an appeal. The games are for everyone, they have a kiddy appeal to make it so... is it bad?? not at all.

You have to be very mature to accept this fact and those who say Nintendo games are not kiddy are only fooling themselves. And of course the people who take "kiddy" as a bad thing lack some maturity themselves.

Wii has too many amazing exclusives and innovative niche titles that can't be ignored by anyone that calls themself a real gamer.

anyone who buys a wii nowbrand new would have 2 full years of gaming with just AAE and higher games.

Yes I have a PS3 and gaming PC (mostly used for SC2) and the Wii gets most of my playtime.

I'm also 28 years old. Certainly not a kid.

Why I dislike the Wii: 1. It's an oc'd gamecube. It is, the hardware is the SAME. 2. Graphics look awful, no HD. 3. Wii mote is stupid, it's not needed for ANY game. I wanted to play super mario galaxy 2 with a PS2 controller. 4. The gamecube controller is subpar as well, it's not good for FPS, or racing games. Hell it's not even that good for platformers. 5. I don't like the games, and the online is a joke. 6. The x360 and the PS3, just dominate it, unfortunatley most people are toal noobs and don't know what good games are. Other wise we would see CSS and Quake 3 being the most played games.JigglyWiggly_

To me it's like saying "this game sucks because it doesn't support an option for lefties"

Motion controls has improved gaming i.e. you can't emmulate certain Wii games like Wii Sports Resort with a gamecube controler.

If it was possible to play all games the exact same way with a GC controler without any gameplay or level design changes, then Wii's control setup would be a pointless gimmick, which it isn't as it's not possible to play Resort with the same level of accuracy, let alone intuitive scheme and as fun. It's just better for some games, period.

The thing is, most people suck at games, and the Wii by definition has more sucky players, it's a less hardcore console than anything I've EVER seen. Like let's play CSS and see if you think you can outplay me.

It gets the point across. Those big numbers apparently don't mean much when you're getting results like that.

* Still, dont buy the bad games and there is a huge number of good games. No excuse, the wii has been out for 4 years

It's still an annoyance to have to make an effort to find the good games among the hordes of the more popular shovelware titles.

* The point is that the Wii has games for every age group

But unfortunately people aren't interested in every type of game in their age group. With this taken into account, the Wii has some very large holes.

1. The Wii is much stronger than the GC, this whole "overclocked GC" has been debunked

If I remember correctly, the Wii's GPU is 4 times as powerful as the GC's

2. SMG1+2, Metroid, Last Story, Red steel 2, Darkside chronicles etc. say otherwise. HD makes it sharper and more pleasant to view.There are beautiful SD games (which would look better in HD). Wii + HD = fail in market share.

With a high resolution and AA, even games of lower technical quality tend to "look better" than Wii games. For example, Torchlight:

3. Wiimote is innovative. Games are great with it than gamepads. You should be more open-minded for new things instead of being close-minded and sticking to the same old dated gamepad.

It's all a matter of preference. Some like KB&M controls, some like game pads, and some like motion controls. Also, there's a difference between things sticking around because there haven't been any advancements in that field and things sticking around because they work- the latter being the case with game pads.

5. Thats your problem regarding the games. And the online, not as good as XBL and PSN, is decent. I own wii for 4 years and own a ps3 as well, I know what Im talking about.

When even Wii fanboys call it junk, you know it's junk :P

What gets me is SONY fanboys dogging on the Wii's motion controll system, but then drool over the MOVE. Same with Microsoft's Kenect. I just don't get it. If Microsoft and SONY want to copy the Wii, fine, It just makes Nintendo's wii-mote idea look more superior and innovative because of this regarding SONY and Microsoft's actions.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be impossible to play with the ps2 controller.

Iagree with this. I have at least 40-50 games on the Wii I still have yet to try and I may never try them. It's easy to ditch the shovelware on the system if you try.

The Wii fails to deliver on many fronts. Whether you find those fronts relevant is your own business. A lot of it doesn't matter to me, some of it does. I enjoy my system, the hater's can continue to hate. Since when exactly have the haters ever defined my opinion? Pretty much never. In fact, how many times out of 100 do the hatrs make a comment worth our time? Its a low ratio, trust me . . .

The levels of "oh my god, what the hell am I reading", are high. First question, why exactly do you defend the absolutelycrazy decision of releasing gaming consoles for 400+ dollars? Do you like being charged high prices for the ability to play games?
