I'm 30. I've been playing Video Games for over 20 years.  Thanks to the Wii's expanding Virtual Console service I feel like a kid again.  All my favorite systems in one place, on one machine.

Owning a Wii is like having all these systems in front of you:

NES
GENESIS
SNES
N64
TG16
and just announced:

MSX and NEO GEO!

When I was 12 I could never have dreamed this would ever come to pass, especially on one system.  Yeah I know, you can steal these games for your computer...blah, blah, blah....sorry, I'm not a thief. VC is a huge selling point for Wii and the best down-loadable games service of all three next gen machines.

MSX and Neo Geo? Wow. this would mean that we could get the original and real version of Metal Gear as it was originally intended, as well as a perfect translation of all those SNK games nobody got to play because the Neo Geo was so ridiculously expensive.

Yea I still prefer playing games in the living room on my large tv screen with a quality controller. Plus the whole illegal thing.

I find VC gaming is more accessible than loading a rom.

There's a lot of little things that annoy me with emulation that just doesn't happen on the VC.

Charging for old intellectual property is in a sense milkage, whether you agree or not. Hell, I'm a victim, but I also realize I'm being milked and try to avoid it as much as I can because it ISN'T right.

If people want to buy a game off the VC, it's their choice. It's not like their making you buy these games.

You would agree though that if you were a software company and you came up with a compilation (basically) of software that you had already made and released years and years ago and sold it for 10.00 that that is milkage, though, right.

Only the N64 games are $10.00. The NEW and others aren't so expensive.

So should publishers just start giving away copies of A Tale of Two Cities? Or Hamlet? Or just give away free copies of The Godfather or Apocolypse Now?

The VC is awesome.I was born in the early years of the SNES era,and although my first console was the N64,I missed many classics on it,so I'm glad I'll be able to play all the great games I missed.

Look I understand what you are saying, but as a company who has a library of traditional games, selling it for 5.00 to ten bucks on a new console is milkage. I'm not saying Nintendo is the only one who does this. Like I said, I bought SF for 360 just because I love it so much, and I might buy Double Dragon, but thats it.

All I'm saying is that it is basically rehashing, except worse, because it's not even pretending to be new in any way. At least with XBL, new features are added like online or achievements, so it SOMEWHAT makes me feel better about getting milked.

In other words, you are saying that because the Wii is capable of more quality in games, meaning better texture, graphics, sound, and maybe extra content, they should lower the price of the classics because of that? That would be stupid considering that some of their old games official price may still be higher than what VC is offering. Majoras mask still cost $20 where I live at in a few game stores that sell old games. Mario Kart 64 stil cost $17.00 despite how long it's been out at some stores that have it. Mario Tennis, Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark and a few others cost $10 - $12 dollars around here as there official price. Sure, you can go on Ebay, but the price there is the personal price of what the seller is offering.

It would be a real dream come true if it was backed up by a catalog as hefty as those of emulators. Unfortunately that's not the case, but I support the idea because I respect these laws.

If Nintendo decides to drop the prices and make them more reasonable, then I might be interested. Maybe if some extra features were added too.

NES - $0.50
SNES - $1.00
N64 - $5.00
Genisis - $1.00

Right now, the prices are a little high IMO.

All the old games you loved as a kid, served up to you at a premium price. Gotta love Nintendo for relying on their past and advertising the console as the future.
