For me so far it's Dead Space 2.

Why game of the year? Just because its a RPG? Hell, i vote for Dirt 3...now thats a damn fine game.

OK that just my goty. :P I can see The Witcher 2 being nominated. Still there's a lot of great games coming out this year.

If Gears singleplayer is as good as the MP beta, that game will be my GOTY. It's a travesty that MS delayed the release for very little reason, I should have the game in my hands right now.

if it comes to consoles it will win easily, if not then it probably wont... it should also win best graphics, but it probably will lose to some blurry console game.

Considering the way the last chapter was handled probably not.

If I was to put my money down on a certain game winning (no Gamespot, I'm not trying to gamble on your site. Chillax), it would be either inFamous 2 or Dark Souls. I have very high hopes for these titles. Same for Resistance 3 but that probably wont even get nominated.

Also, did you forget about Portal 2?

I would mention GeoW3, but there's no way in hell it will have a campaign that beats UC3 unless by miracle. There's nothing in GeoW 3's mutliplayer that will feel as fresh as UC3 cinematic style openings in the deathmatch mode where you are fighting the people online on interactive environments.

Slightly off topic, but I've got an M14x coming in the mail in the next couple of days. It's got Windows 7. I haven't played on PC since I had a Macintosh Performa 575 when I was, like, 12 or something.

Looking through Steam, I'm getting a little overwhelmed with the specs and OS's that games require. Anyone know of any good resources for seeing how my CPU and GPU measure up to the ones listed, and if the games will run on Windows 7.

From what I've been able to find so far, it seems like Vista supported games will work on 7, but XP games need an emulator that MS has provided already. That's cool, but what about older games, like Windows 98, 95, ME, and whatnot?

I think Portal 2 may have sealed it for a few, but it's rare for a non-debut sequel to win GOTY. The GOTY award here is shrouded with nonsense, where winners have awarded because it felt fresh--rather than being the best game that year.illmatic87

I still question how the hell RDR managed to get GOTY despite being so dreadfully boring. GOTY decision here seems to be a process of getting drunk and pulling names out of a hat.

Rest assured that the GotY award will go once again to a console-exclusive game - it's becoming a trend.:P

witcher 2 is definitley a contender, and should win.... i can't imagine any game coming close to what witcher has done. But the dev is not really well known, so automatically it won't get GOTY.

GOTY is usually a popularity affair.
