The Xbox 360 is like the PS2

It just seems like the Xbox 360 history is going the way of the PS2

1. It was released a year ealiar than its competition. PS2 came out a year before the gamecube and xbox, like the 360 compared to the ps3 and wii.

2. Had a serious hardware problem when it launced, the games for the PS2 which had a blue back rather than a shiny DVD back actually scratched the lens of your PS2. Obviously we all know the Xbox 360's problems. So both hadd problems which ruined the system!

3. Xbox 360 is mentioned on tv more than other consoles! Now this is more random observing than anythign else, but when I watchOne TreeHillor Grey's Anatomy you hear "hey stop playing xbox" or someone referring to it in a tv show. Also in movies like Role Models you can see people playing the 360 and the 360 in the backround rather then other systems. This is like the PS2, the PS2 back in day always had itself mentioned or in the scenery in movies or tv shows. It was like when people thought gaming, people though PS2. Now when people think video games they think 360.

This is just my opinion and me observing some similarities between the two. Also I realize Microsoft probably pays for its product to be in movies or TV shows and its not because the producers just like the 360 better.

Only difference is PS2 has a fantastice first party, and a bigger exclusive third party...oh and Wii-like sales. :P

No line of ownage Xbox > gamecube > Xbox 360 > ps3 > ps2

Sure i suppose... except the PS2 is way better than the 360 will EVER EVER be.

I can see where you are coming from with this. We'll have to wait a few more years to see if it pans out.

Actually, the Wii is more Comparable to the PS2. Why? Well because not only the sales, but the graphics of the system (Meant in a good way, not bashing). That and the Wii is mentioned quite a bit on the news or day time television shows. The hardware has some similaritys. there almost the same size. they both have somesimilar games. The wii is ahead of this gen system wars (sale wise), just as the PS2 was last gen.

Please don't ever compare the XBOX 360 to the Playstation 2. There is no comparrison.

Want to know what its missing? Games, a variety of great games. When I see 360, I see a game or two that interest me. If I look at my PS2 game collection I see games that nothing on 360 holds a candle to.

Could not agree more. This was MS' plan to dent Sony's market dominance. Mission accomplished, I'd say. They wanted to get to market first, screwed up as well, have the larger library, are in control as far as pricing. The PS2 was a monster marketing success story, and MS was smart enough to not try to reinvent the wheel. Just do like they did before they can again. Even if Sony was to surpass MS this gen, I think they dented Sony's aura of invincibility. Now the Wii......cainetao11

I don't see that many parallels. The Xbox 360 was the first console of the gen and therefore the first wow people with its next-gen graphics. The PS2 came second, looked like nothing new and wasn't helped by its mediocre launch titles that looked inferior to some Dreamcast games.

The Gamecube and especially the Xbox outperformed the PS2 in terms of graphics when they eventually arrived on the scene and multiplats on the Xbox made their PS2 counterparts look laughable. By contrast, the Xbox 360 is still the gen leader in graphics for consoles, despite being released a year earlier than its competitors (nothing to be sniffed at I must say).

Except for the most important part, a huge library of great exclusives.

360 is like the ps2 only by its popularity in the media (tv, movies, celebs)

wii is like the ps2 only by its sales. (surely isnt by its library:P)

ps3 is like ps2 by its 1st party games which were usually of high quality.( no more 3rd party exclusives)

if anything is like the best attributes of the ps2 seperated into what we have this gen.

Anyway, I think maybe the more similar consoles would be the PS2 and Wii, in terms of sales trends and the variety of games released.

nah theres not as much shovelware xD, maybe the Wii and the PS2 would be a better comparrasin :P
