As a Xbox 360 owner, two years ago was a glorious time to own the console. May 19th, 2007, for a video gamer, for an Xbox 360 owner, the upcoming fall was going to be filled with so many games that you wouldn't know how to afford them all. You had the fan favorite Halo 3, Mass Effect, and a then 360, PC exclusive Bioshock coming up, that's just the exclusives. Then I wasn't thinking about the future, I was so amazed by the games. 2008 came along, albeit a little slower but you still had Gears of War 2 which was a big deal. But then, I could feel things tailing off, in 2009 all you saw was map pack after map pack from Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 you felt that there was nothing new. After the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, and later on Little Big Planet, after that Killzone 2, the once laughable PS3 that we all use to call a George Forman grill started cooking something. It started cooking games, not just games, but great games a variety of them. As a 360 owner I saw the reviews and videos of all these games and then the future of the PS3 with games like God of War 3 and MAG(albeit that could turn out to be a disappointment) and multiplats now virtually being the same for both consoles, I couldn't help but ask what the 360 has coming out? Just another Halo expansion, I saw the PS3 hitting its prime, that's why I made the decision to sell my 360 and get a PS3. This will probaly be the trend for alot of gamers I suspect, especially if nothing big is announced at E3 for the 360 and a pricedrop for the ps3 could just spike sales and rightfully so. I can sense the impatience of the 360 owner on these boards, I see official threads being mades for games like metal gear solid 4 saying that is coming out for the 360 which we know is not true. Two years ago I didn't see threads about ps3 exclusives coming to 360, no I saw threads about the great games coming out for the 360 and the excitement for them. I feel a change in the tides, and I see the ps3 rising. That's just what I think, take it or leave, but for me the ps3's future is brighter(I'm basing this off no facts just opinion)

I disagree I find that the more interesting and innovative games are coming out now unlike in say 2007.

Worst case scenario, the Xbox 360 has absolutely no more games and the next Xbox comes out soon and destroys the PS3.

I wouldn't call this a slump really. I'll call it a slump when E3 comes and goes and there's no big announcements.

Well, at the moment, the 360 certainly seems to be losing ground. However, MS have been silent for quite some time, and I personally believe they're planning to shock at E3. However, if MS E3 showing is Motion Controls and MGS4 360, I'd seriously be wondering when the next Xbox is due. Either way, we'll have to wait and see.

what do you mean by "losing ground"?? It is STILL outselling PS3 worldwide, unless you meant with the wii, then id agree with you :P

what do you mean by "losing ground"?? It is STILL outselling PS3 worldwide, unless you meant with the wii, then id agree with you :P

Perhaps stop thinking about sales :) It's losing ground in terms of quality new exclusives on the horizon.

If Microsoft has a bad E3, I would think its pretty evident that a new console is on the horizon.

Hmm lets see. Sony ripped off MS achievements, Microsoft ripped off the Nintendo Mii's and motion controller (supposedly if we are to believe annonymous and highly questionable sources), PC users are way too up themselves and Nintendo? Well theyre just rehasing the same old franchises. My God! they all suck! Just because there aernt much games coming out for the 360 RIGHT NOW, doesnt mean that theres gonna be no more good games coming out.

Im not 100% sure M$ didnt actually expect this. I mean thats why they rushed the 360 out first. They wanted to make a big splash up front. The run of games from fall 2006 to fall 2007 added even more to the punch. I still stand by my claim that the 360 was not meant to bury Sony, but to take a much bigger piece of the pie than Xbox did. The fact is, Sony was an absolute GIANT and near monopoly in the industry for two gaming generations with the PS1 and PS2. M$ was able to get some PS2 exclusives to go multplatform, but there are still so many others that there is no real way for M$ to expect to keep up punch for punch in the long haul. The biggest reason is (unlike the Wii), M$ is trying to beat Sony playing the exact same ballgame with the same type of games, etc. This Team ICO project is one of the latest examples of Sony exclusive developers yet to hit this gen. We still have yet to see a God of War or Gran Turismo this gen. MAG is the next step for the Socom developer, and Uncharted is the next step for the Jak and Daxter crew. Even so, the PS3 lineup is considered by most to rival the current 360 lineup. Sony is still rolling out more hit franchises Infamous, Little Big Planet, Resistance, etc. with more on the way. Im sure M$ will deny it, but even if they do fall off from here, I think they accomplished more than they hoped for this gen.

I thought Ridge Racer was a pretty good game even if its a drifter LOL But seriously, what did 360 start with? Certainly nothing better than Resistance, Motorstorm and Riiiiidge Raaacer!! People were making fun of it as a glorified original Xbox until Gears of War came along almost a year after launch. Basically the 360 has lived off a reputation made in the Nov 2006 through Nov 2007 timeframe. That year saw Gears of War, Lost Planet, Forza 2, Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect with COD4 as icing on the cake. It was basically a Nitrous boost of all its best titles. Thats a better run than the rest of the 360 lifetime combined.

Ninja Blade got a 7.5 here and didn't flop, it was hyped A, there are some games like Forza 3 and Halo 3: ODST sadly.

IMO, Achievements are a drain on gaming, hopefully N's stubborn-ness is good for them here and they stay out of it.

not at all... there are many interesting exclusives coming out on 360 this year... i always found the best games getting released in the last 2 yrs of a console's life..

Considering i believe we wont see the next Xbox console until very late 2010/ early 2011 i think this year / next year we'll get a few great exclusives on the 360...
