On one side, there is the PS3, 360, and PC.  This is the war over hardcore gamers.  It's a good sized market considering how many millions of hardcore gamers there are out there.

The other side is the Wii.  By itself.  Nothing is quite like it and it's not competing for the same people that the Hardcore systems are.  It's going to sell tons, but being in a whole different realm of gaming, it doesn't affect the Hardcore War.

Basically, there is a Hardcore War and the Wii.  Simply having all systems in one overall System War isn't correct.  I think it would benefit everyone on here if we referred to the Console or System War as the Hardcore War and the Wii as in it's own boat.  I honestly don't think the Wii's success is truely going to affect the hardcore market.  Because of this, I think it would be wrong to have anymore stupid PS3 vs Wii or 360 vs Wii or whatever.

Just my two cents.

pleanty of hard core gamers are buying it. its just that casuals and semi hard core people just seem to overweigh at the moment, especially thanks to all the good press. but, i think once the wii picks up speed from some more first party/ some third party good games, it can compete in the "hardcore" business

If you think the Wii isnt stealing away potential buyers for the PS3 and 360 your just fooling yourself.  Yes the Wii is expanding the market but it is still taking away market share from the PS3 and 360 and it will get more third party games due to this (games that normally would be PS3/360 exclusive).

Please read.^  Of the hardcore gamers, many will buy the Wii...as a second console.  There are few hardcores that use the Wii as their primary or only console.

Ok a point of mine is then that the Wii will steal away a lot of hardcore games/potential games with its success.

The Wii is great for people its mainly aimed at, old people and women.  Aside from Zelda I haven't played a Wii game for more than an hour, but my wife loves it and her dad won't leave Wii Sports golf alone when he's over. So Nintendo accomplished their goal, but the traditional market moves on without Nintendo. In a way the TC is right that there is two markets right now in videogames, but is wrong because there is only one consol race.

Dude, sry, but shut up.  LOTS of hardcore gamers have and will buy Wii, and it could easily be said that if Wii didn't exist, then there would be more Ps3 and 360 sales.  I'm tired of people saying that Wii isn't in this fight JUST because it's in first place as far as sales go.

If you look at it that way, the Wii is going to obliterate both of the other consoles because casuals are eating it up. :?

PS2 had the most casual gamers in the last gen, yet it had PLENTY of games for hardcore gamers.  Just because a system tries to appeal to EVERYONE doesn't make it "not count" when we talk system wars.

I think everyone is forgetting what a casual gamer is.  Yes there are the moms and grandpas but what the REAL casual market is your madden football guy.  The person that buys a game here and there that they think looks good from the case.  Casuals make up a large force even in the "hardcore" games.  That is why you will see a resource shift just like the PS2 was that person is now the Wii.

The Wii may well (probably will) sell the most systems, but there is nol way that it will sell the most games. I believe (if the current attach rate is any indication) that the 360 will sell less systems than the Wii but the 360 will sell more games, downloadable content (games, arcade, music, movies, tv shows etc etc) and accessories, and that's where the money is.

I think the casuals will pick up the 360 and it will come in first place. But the Wii is a close second because i remember once at target there was a casual there buying a sports game for the Xbox, this was before the Wii came out, and he mentioned to his sister how cool the Wii was cause of it's motion sensing :?

Why is one system considered a secondary system. Why can't the others be secondary or both evenly played?
