There is no Halo killer

A Halo killer.

We've heard that before.

A console FPS that is of higher quality and that has, yeah, killed Halo.

But no, there is no Halo killer.

Killzone didn't do it. Neither did Haze, Resistance or Call of Duty do it. Neither will Killzone 2. Halo is (Halo 3 most played in 2007, 2008 on Live) popular and will continue being it after Killzone 2.

For that reason, there never was a Halo killer and there will never be one. Halo is too gigantic, simply put. No FPS on consoles will overcome it.

With Microsoft now owning the franchise without owning Bungie, it's probably going to eventually kill itself.

It's nice to see Killzone 2 get this kind of a rise out of people. I'd be jealous too quite frankly.

This is true! But i think that, when talking about a halo killer, most people believe halo:ce is THE game in the series that has to be overcome!

Your right, there probably wont be a halo killer in online play and game sales. There has been and will be more better fps games better than halo like cod4, and resistance 2 imo. The reason for halo's growth is all the hype. Halo 3 is an average shooter not a superb one.Kaisos

I agree there are way too many games better like Resistance I played Halo 1 and 2 on pc and 3 on my friends house it was just average at best I didn't find the graphics and gameplay for halo 3 as good as let's say Resistance and Call of Duty 4 I want PS3 to move forwards with game instead of backwards by having a game like halo.

Don't get me wrong it's an ok game just not something that really stood out for me I found Left4Dead better I still love the way the zombies come at you in that game and the team work.

There is no Halo killer because there is no reason to kill it. It is just another console FPS that gained popularity because it was the only good mainstream game for the Xbox at the time.foxhound_fox

The joke is you said you didn't "want that crap" on your PS3 and then went on to claim R2 was a better game. While I'm sure Bungie is flattered that Halo 3, a game released in 2007 has held up a year and is still on par enough with current games to still be compared R2 isn't close to being as good as Halo.

Scripted boss fights? Check that for Resistence.

Lack of variety in enemys you fight? Check that for Resistence.

Rubbish characters that somehow make Master Chief look full of life? Check that for Resistence.

Unbalanced (while fun i admit) multiplayer? Check!

Take note of the unscripted fight, take note of the massive area, the ships flying about, the mongooses zooming around and yes they used a rocket launcher to take it down, like you did in R2 with that bloody big robot thing the difference is it's on a freaking mongoose and that thing can kill you at anytime and not just when you reach a certain point in game. It's far superior campaign wise than R2. Fact.

You will never. Ever. E-V-E-R. See anything as Epic as that coming from Resistence 1,2,3,4,5,6 however long they plan to drag it on. Ever. Halo is always going to outlast what the PS3 has to offer that's what sets the two apart everytime.

Dunno what world you are in but in the real REAL world Halo 3 isn't about on the PC/PS3 or Wii but if you feel the need to match one platform up against 3 go ahead, reaks of desperation but i guess if that's what it takes to kill it, well darn it's more of a beast than i thought. ;]

Dunno what world you are in but in the real REAL world, Call of Duty isn't just on the XBox 360, but if you feel you need to cut the audience of the competition into 1/4 just so your game can come out on top, go ahead. Whoa whoa. When you talk about the 360 how does that make it console specific? If a game is able to be played on multiple platforms its the same game just on multiplie platforms. What you just said there is "like only sport bikes can go to 160mph", well hello there are many cars that can go over 170mph that are produced under many different manufactures; i.e. stock. I just don't get it.

Um, Killzone 2 is already matching it in scores and it hasn't even come out yet. It's also the top-selling pre-order at Gamestop currently, so sales for this game look high. No, there isn't a Halo killer, not in popularity, just like there isn't a SPONGEBOB killer for children's television. In other words, Halo is the proclaimed mascot of Microsoft Game Studios, just as SpongeBob is of Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon makes more and more merchandise of SpongeBob while Microsoft Game Studios is even planning on doing the same with Halo. Hey, maybe a Halo TV series, movie trilogy, books, manga, music albums, songs on the radio, etc. Yes, Halo was a GREAT game for its time. But in 2009, we already have Resistance 2 and Call of Duty MW and WaW, and soon, Killzone 2. They kinda stepped up the gameplay that Halo revolutionized(or was it COD), so Halo isn't the best anymore; not until they step up the gameplay even more to less of a run n gun shooter like Killzone 2 is shaping up to be. I doubt Killzone 2 is going to do it. It's a big step up for FPS games in general, but it's a start. NYrockinlegend
