Exactly...This a Gaming console, with a new format..which benifits games...not just New HD movies. You don't honestly think the PS3 sells because its a cheap Bluray player?

Sony Helped create blu ray right? So if general bluray costs are falling, then that includes PS3 cost. But I don't think movie players hurt gaming consoles that much.

I also doubt any hd or blu player can play games, surf the web, upload music, pictures, and video and can print.

There will always be people that want a stand alone player and there will always be people that want a video game system that can also playback movies too.Either way it is going to help the format grow and that will in turn help the ps3 because it will help justify the little extra you have to spend to gamers who would also like to have that feature. The ps3 should be $500 by the end of this year too which will help us gamers out.

M$ will lower the 360 price to compensate for a lower PS3 price. Having Blu-Ray is a main selling point for the PS3, and lower Blu-Ray prices will change that. And who needs a PS3 to surf the web when you have a computer?.

Blu-Ray/HD-DVD...those really aren't the tipping point for this generation, and the PS3 is selling at a decent clip. Its not dying, and its not going to go away. Deal with it.SpruceCaboose

no. just because blu ray dropped 100 doesn't mean that the PS3 will drop 100. You have to remember that the elements in the regular blu-ray that enable a price drop probably arent in the PS3 version of the blu-ray.

Well, thre are a few things to note here.

1. Cheaper bluray, means cheaper bluray in ps3, means lower ps3 dev costs

2. More blurays, means cheaper disks, means more dev profit off of bluray games, means more dev support for the PS3

3. Bluray winning the format war means it's an added incentive for people to buy the PS3, since it does both games and the increasingly nice to have bluray movies.

No, no, it actually helps PS3. If Blu-ray prices are dropping, that means the production costs are also dropping. SO basically PS3 will have a price drop soon-L-U-I-S-

why? because the PS3 is being sold at like a $200 buck loss per system sold or around there. If blu-ray prices drop because production cost drop... The PS3 might stay the same because Sony needs to make up for the money loss. So instead of as $200 loss per system sold, they will now be looking at around $100 bucks

the price might drop, but only like 25-50 bucks

I think so, why PS3 games are hardly in the top 20 every month on the NPD sales list...

PS3's have got to be used for something, but it sure isn't gaming.
