Can anybody give me a solid reason why i should even think about buying a DS3 this year? Anybody at all?

The fact is that all the Delaystations (DS3) good games are being delayed until mid 2008. This is because devs cannot work conventionally on the DS3's we know that by now. But this is a HUGE problem for Sony who are trying to sell their system before the competitors get away from them and have the momentum from which it will be near enough impossible for the DS3 to come back from considering all the other issues that plague the DS3 which everybody is aware of by now. Sony needs to get its act together before it gets my cash. In the meantime i will keep enjoying my 360 while trying to find a Wii :)

One reason: Resistance. I could go on, but I met the initial requirement. You should admit defeat and move on.

In comparison to the 360:

1. Cheaper in the long run.

2. Much less of a chance of the system breaking down.

3. This is just my opinion, but i think the games are better.

In comparison to the Wii:

1. Graphics

2. Less gimmickygames and lame ports.

Your stupid.

The games on the 360 outclass every game on the ps3 but.. It is just an opinion. The ps3 has hardly any must have titles to get this year bar mgs4 in my opinion.

1.) your right it will def be cheaper, because you wont be buying many games for it, because there are no good games.

2.) there are no more problems with the system breaking down except for people that still have the initial shipment of them.

3.) Based on reviews, xbox games are alot better. in fact xbox has 15 games reviewed higher then the highest rated ps3 game. unless you include a year old port of a game anyone who had a pc or a 360 already played.

Well this fall there will be plenty of reasons to purchase a PS3. I will definitely buy a PS3 later this year because there will be plenty of awesome games out plus Playstation Home will launch.

I hope there is also a Price drop this fall, that will just ROCK !

Lots of people loved Brokeback Mountain, including most critics in the US. Or were you trying to make a gay joke...sad.

1.) With the 360 you have to pay what, like 60 bucks a year for xbl. A console generation might last around 7 years. Then, while the PS3 comes with free with Blu-ray support. You can buy HD support for your 360, but it will be another 200 bucks. Also the ps3 comes with a battery charger for your remote. With the 360, you will either have to buy one, or kepp buying new batteries.

2.) Yes there are. I know people.

3). Well,i said it was just my opinion. Although, many of the best games on the 360 can be found on the PS3.

not really... peoples systems still break obviously.. that happens with all systems. but the percentages of systems breaking down is alot less then the initial shipment. It might just seem like there are alot more then 360's breaking versus ps3's. most likey becuase there are like 4 times as many 360s out there.

Its less an issue now than it was for the launch units, but new units still break, which is not what you said. You said no more problems, when clearly there are still problems, even with units that were not part of the 3 month launch window.

Ok here you go:

In comparison to the 360:

1. Cheaper in the long run.

$400 is cheaper than $600. Don't add in any unnecessary junk to bloat the figures.

2. Much less of a chance of the system breaking down.

This one is true so far.

3. This is just my opinion, but i think the games are better.

True

2. Less gimmickygames and lame ports.

What defines gimmicky game, or lame port? Both systems have bad games and ports, so was it arbitrary?

Your stupid.

This was just unneeded.

well I got a ps3 because I dont own a 360, and wanted to play oblivion, resistance, motorstorm, virtua fighter and cod3, I also wanted a blue ray player since i own a hdtv, all those games are great to me and have lasted me till now, I have to play final fantasy 13 and it's 100% on the ps3 so I had to buy that console instead but didnt want to wait to play oblivion, resistance, motorstorm and so on, so I just went ahead and got it now, and ninja gaiden sigma, rainbow 6 vegas, the darkness and lair are out soon!!!! woot!!

So now xbox live is unneeded? Even though all the 360 fanboys are claiming that to be one of the main reasons the 360 is king? And i do not believe that batteries are unneccesary.

A gimmicky game for the wii is one that just has the motion controls tacked on on, and the developers are hoping somone will buy it just for the novelty of the controls, without actually putting any effort into them. And ports, you can't deny the lame ports. THere are good ports (RE4) and bad ports (far Cry) but you cany denie that the wii has the most lame ports and gimmicky games.

Don't get me wrong, i support all three systems. I have a wii and am debating wether to get a 360 or Ps3. I just saw his post and pointed out my disagreements. I would have done the same if he was bashing any other system.

Xbox Live is not needed. It is a great system, and it increases the enjoyment of the system, but it is far from needed. Most 360 owners do not have Love Gold, and only 60% of 360 owners have any form of Live. And in fact, many homes in the US (and I am pretty sure I read Europe) still don't have (or don't want) access to highspeed internet

So while Live is great, it is far from needed. The only think that would maybe be considered "needed" for straight gameing would be the $20 play and charge kit.

As for gimmick games, most of the Wii games I have played used the Wiimote quite well. And as for ports, most ports are terrible for every system. Some ports are well done. Most are rush jobs to make a quick buck.

In comparison to the 360:

1. Cheaper in the long run. - lemme guess, bu bu teh xboxlive for 12 years is 600, u could just buy a ps3!!! (Live as well as all 360 accesories are optional, 2/3 of people who have 360's dont pay for online gaming so ur point = faiiiiiilllurreee

2. Much less of a chance of the system breaking down. - that makes the PS3 better? big deal if u happen to be unlucky and it breaks down ull wait 2 weeks and get a new one free of charge (also, they dont break down nearly as much as the launch consoles

3. This is just my opinion, but i think the games are better. - thats just a flat out lie and u know it, even most PS3 ownwers can admit that as of NOW the 360 has better games, look at the AAA and AA lists for both games (this is why u see the 2007-2015 game lists from cows, they beleive it Will have better games but come on, now?)

In comparison to the Wii:

1. Graphics

2. Less gimmickygames and lame ports.

Your stupid.

WOW!!! DELAYstation 3!!! thats so funny!!! did you make that up all by your self?

And not all games are being delayed. And even if they were, OMG you can check release dates, and your also ESP capable, because you can read the minds of Devs and blame all delays on PS3 being unfriendly to Devs. I guess thats why spore got delayed too. No Dev in the history of the world EVER delayed a game to fix bugs, or to add content and features, or to make the game better! You are Winner, sir, Very Very winner.

BTW, I don't own a PS3, or want one.

And their are reasons. Sure, they don't have alot of exclusives, but RFOM and Ridge racer are very fun, and you can still buy multiplats for it. Plus, if your an HD junkie, you get HDMI, and Blu-ray. Plus, you can use it as a media center, and you get a web browser. There are reasons to buy one.

60% percent of people have xbl. Oh your saying that only MOST of the time it will be more expensive in the long run. Thats still more than half of the time. If your one of the people who does no want online, then it will probably be cheaper. If your one of the majority, it will have cost you more by the end of the generation.

And yes, there are alot of games on the wii that use the controls properly. I was just saying that there were alot of games that don't, and that is a weakness of the system. You can still avoid all those bad games though, and play the good ones, like Zelda and SPM.

Hey there, 60% involves many users (I would suspect more Silver than Gold) who don't pay for Live Gold, and instead use Live Silver, which is free.

Hey there, 60% involves many users (I would suspect more Silver than Gold) who don't pay for Live Gold, and instead use Live Silver, which is free.

so for MOST people it will be more expensive. I think we are pretty much in agreement on the facts here, but i think some things are more important than you do, so i think ill stop arguing now.

There are reasons to buy one.

pintabear49blue

there is no real reason why anyone would buy a delaystaion. the wii is a much better system, just look at the sells

  1. Simply to be able to play all the games this gen
  2. Blu-ray
  3. HDMI
  4. Web browser
  5. Exclusives ( last time I checked, you can only play exlusives on one console)
  6. Possible CELL POWWA
  7. Media center
  8. 60GB HDD
  9. Tilt sensing
  10. Better graphics than Wii
Is SALES that hard to say.

was there any need to call it delaystation? i didnt bother reading the post after i saw that word.reyad-u
Same. Anyone who calls a console a name like that over over loses all credibility after the first sentence.

No, if you actually read, less than half of 360 owners pay for Live. About 3-4 million pay for Live. The other 2-3 million Live users use the free Xbox Live Silver. So no, its not more expensive for most people. You should stop arguing, as you lost the ability to actually read what had been written and then form a retort. You just keep falling back on something that is false.

well, even so, alot of people have XBL, and judging by what iv seen on this board, most of the 360 owners here do. So its still a large advantage of the Wii and Ps3 over the 360. And and all the MS fanboys are using their XBL as a weapon, comparing it to PSN. I think that XBL has a handful of features that the PS3 has, and alot of other advantages, but it's not really worth the money you'll be paying. And the same people bashing the PS3 about its Prive tag are Tooting their horn about XBL, so those people are just fanboys or they dont realize that if you keep XBL the entire generation, its going to cost more than the PS3. SO theyre bashing the PS3 price tag even when their system is more expensive in the long run.

I normally hate to feed the fire of a rant of a fanboy who can't spell a consoles name right, but I kind of agree, this year there's Lair and Warhawk, which are games that people seem to be excited about, but I don't really see the appeal, and that's pretty much it for exclusives. It really does seem as if the right time to buy a PS3 would be in 2008.

No, the Playstation 3 has a lot of great games already, with a lot more to come, a lot of which come before 2008, for example Ratchet and Clank Future, due out in september, and a load of other ones, and ther's always E3 where there'll be a lot of updates.

I think the tc has a good point...

the ps3 is $600... paying $600 for ONE game is a stupid move by any means...

noone buys a console to "just wait"...

faith is fine, but not with a $600 price tag....

go for a Wii over the ps3...much better value....:)

If it has the games you want, then, yes, there is a reason.
