There must be something seriously wrong with IGN

How this site has so many followers is beyond me and beyond everything. IGN published an article today that will make you wonder, are these guys nuts?And that article is this one: Top Ten Biggest Gaming Disappointments of 2010

I'm just going to focus on the #1 disappointment to not make my post too long, the number one was FFXIII. I know I hated FFXIII with a passion but that's not the point here, the point is that IGN can't make up their minds. Just read what they say about FFXIII and why it was a dissappointment:

IGN: "Okay. Final Fantasy XIII is, without question, the biggest gaming disappointment of 2010. Square Enix promised fans so much and under-delivered in every area, apart from utterly gorgeous raw presentation values. It's true – XIII is pure spectacle, but the gameplay is so vanilla, linear and unmoving that we really wonder how the design process made it as far as it did without anyone raising some warning flags. Being merely 'okay' isn't good enough for the Final Fantasy series. These games have a heritage and pedigree to maintain, and thirteen games in, this instalment indeed proved unlucky."

So yeah, according to them FFXIII sucked but it was 'okay'? Well I just don't know... Lets take a look at their review of the game; OMG an 8.9/10, Editor's Choice, nice. :roll:

Soooooo what do you guys think about this? How can a game they scored that high with an Editor's Choice award can be the disappointment of the year to them? If an 8.9 is a bad score wait until you see who was the #2 disappointment of the year... :lol:

"But hardcore Final Fantasy fans might be disappointed by the game's abandonment of franchise traditions like open worlds, town exploration and complex mini-games. The game is still worth buying, but it doesn't quite feel as complete as its well-loved predecessors."

It's a great game, but still disappointed. I don't see what's so strange about this.

That article was written by a different person then the guy who reviewed the game.

Final Fantasy 14 should have been number 1 and it's not even on the list....

I liked FF13. I know I'm part of a small minority, and the game wasn't that great compared to something like FF10, but who cares? It was still really fun...

I love this line in regards to Sonic 4: "Being merely very good isn't enough for a character like this."

It's nice to see someone recognize what Sonic used to represent.

I can't see anything on that list that shouldn't be there.

I agree mostly with what he said about that actually, but when he said "I don't want a low level Pokemon" it makes me wonder just how much change he wants...

why is LP2,K&L, and Crackdown 2 even on that list. I dont think anyone was expecting anything great from them. Thats a horrbile list anyways, my personal most disappointment game is The Force Unleashed 2. And I liked both FF13 and GT5 :D

I agree with everyone on that list except for GT5 (has passed my expectations) and Crackdown (fun coop with a friend, did exactly what it was suppose to).

IGN AU made the dissapointment list. they gave the game an 8.4 with no editors choice!

geeze, that was a good list, i may have to read more of their stuff. i never look at that site.

100% Concur with IGN's list their.

To be fair, the utter piece of lazy crap that is FF13 still sold alot. Not sure why gamers are still eating this junk. I could of wrote 13's story in one night with an actual meaningful plot twist. Aside from the Tech Demo inspirations they put no work into it.

well i agree with some of the list, I would put god of war 3 and red dead redemption on that list too and I agree that FF 13 is the biggest disapointment in 2010, as far as i'm concern it's my biggest disapointment in gaming period

I'd agree with the list and with the mentions. It doesn't matter what the game gets, whether it's a 10 or a 1. What matters is that it delivers what the buyer was hoping it would. Some of those games I do like to play, such as Alan Wake and Dante's Inferno. Does that excuse that it failed in certain areas? No.

IGN took off points from golden sun Dark Dawn for being too accessible, such incompetence.

but i've already lost any hope from their staff in general after I read the GI joe film review.

They want to appeal to gamers in a nice way but want to be radical at the same time. The things they do are always going to be contradictory.

I don't agree at all about Fabel 3 an FFXIII.I think they are very good games.

With all the people being disappointed with Alan Wake, I find it strange that it's not on that list. Other then that, I think it's fairly accurate...except for Crackdown, did anyone even expect much from it?maniacalrooster

I was about to say "what's with the list obsession" but actually......

Sonic, Crackdown 2, Move, Kinect, LP2, Kane and Lynch 2, Fable 3, MoH, FF13, GT5......

I may not personally agree with everything (actually, I can't find anything to downright disagree with either) but that's a good list.

Actually, it makes sense that you like something and still called disappointing, for example i liked a lot RDR, however it was by far my most disappointing game of the year.

True. Just like Resident Evil 4. One of the best games when it came out. Still highly disappointing for most fans.

IGN are all over the place, they give games like SC conviction a 9 and give GT5 a 8.5 and give strange reasons for doing so. This was a while back but they gave God hand a really low score i meant WTF God hand was awesome.

I think taste ans situational mood has a lot to do with it. I hate Halo, I hate CoD, I did'nt get far in GoW3 (maybe I should have given it a chance), I can't bring myself to play Resident Evil 5, I don't like SMG2.

Wanna know a game gobbled up? Enchanted Arms! That's right, I had more fun with that than Lost Oddysey.

Their ff13 review was horrible indeed but two different opinions

gt5 shouldnt be there. IGN and many others dont know how those cars handle in real life so they shouldnt talk crap about it. they dont understand ultra realistic handling

IGN reviews are teh suck. No credibility whatsoever. They've gone from 9.5ing everything to 8.5ing everything in a transparent attempt to gain back some "hardcore" cred. Still, when the check is in the mail *COUGH COD BLOPS COUGH* they remember that generic shooter # 483727 still deserves that 9.5. No, I didn't read the topic, and used it to complain about IGN.
