Not a rushed out, movie-liscenced spider-man game you always see, but a really robust, iconic spider-man game that is similar to Arkham Asylum in quality. Anyone else agree?

Spider-Man is not as dark as Modern Day Batman. It wouldn't really fit. And it would be a disservice to the character to try to shoe horn him into a situation just to try to capitalize on the success and style of Arkham Asylum. Besides the Noir levels in Shattered Dimensions where some of the weakest....Nuck81No, I don't mean in grittiness, I mean in quality. As in, robust controls, awesome story, great gameplay. Every spider-man game you come across is kind of crappy and wishywash, and Im a pretty big spider-man fan, I just wish they would come out with a game that really got it right.

No... they should go back and look at Spiderman 2... take what was awesome about it.... cut the fat... and just pack it to the gills with content.
I enjoyed Shattered Dimensions. Only problem I had with it was the Noir levels.
But I agree, I'd like to see a Spider-Man game with plenty of production value.
All superhero games should follow Arkham's quality control and independence from dumb ass movie licenses.
It's no question not having to follow asinine movie scripts and rushed deadlines to match movie release dates is a plus for game development.
It's why a superhero game like Infamous turned out so well.
The best Spider-Man game was easily Spider-Man 2. I remember when that came out I felt like I was really Spider-Man. It is still one of my favorite games ever. The massive open world New York City environment was incredible. The game was a perfect superhero game. Now every other Spider-Man is terrible and strays further and further from what being Spider-Man really is like.
I wish Treyarch would give us a real next gen Spider-Man game like they did with Spider-Man 2.
I know, it's sad and most Hollywood movies made today are just horrible. Dark knight series was good, but they ruined a whole crap load of super hero movies otherwise. All superhero games should follow Arkham's quality control and independence from dumb ass movie licenses.

Activision should just reboot their Spiderman franchise (again): 1.) Create a New York/Manhattan/Etc. from ground up. It should have real life and comic locales, ala Baxter Building (FF HQ). There should be collectibles around the city, new suits, comic book covers, etc. 2.) Fix controls/combat/camera. The camera has plagued the franchise for as long as I can remember. The combat, and controls should be smooth and easy. 3.) Swinging. Spider-man 2 had this nailed down almost perfectly. Replicate, and improve. 4.) Cameos. Can I team up on special side quest with Wolverine, Black Cat, etc.? Web of Shadows did something similar. 5.) Missions. None of this repetitive, Spider-man get my balloon, junk. The main missions should be fun, and the side-quest found in the city should be varied, unique, and dynamic. For example your swing around the city and a bank robbery occurs. It could be the work of Hammerhead/Shocker/etc.Not a rushed out, movie-liscenced spider-man game you always see, but a really robust, iconic spider-man game that is similar to Arkham Asylum in quality. There should be a Spider Man game like Crackdown, only with a reactive game world with generated crimes, factions, events and supervillians.
So like XCOM Apocalypse (in regard to world), only you play it like an open world action game; Crackdown, Spider Man 2(? one of the games were good).
That would be amazing
Spiderman 2 and Ultimate Spiderman were really great last generation.

Mix Ultimate Spider-man with Spider-man 2's web swinging and we'd be set. But yeah, all the Spider-man Game's of late have been overly gimicky.
I've not played it, but I've read that Shattered Dimensions draws lots of influence from Arkham Asylum and is a good game for it. I've considered picking it up at somepoint since AA is a phenomenal game.

I think that's exactly why super hero games are sometimes plain awful, Iron Man as well as Spider Man 3 were so bad, earlier i watched Giant Bomb Quick View of Thor, man, game looks so boring, only when Batman and SpiderMan moved away from movie licenses where when their games truly start to shine, so yeah, i'm agree, make a super hero game with quality in mind and no movie tien in and we will be better, to bad this trend won't seem to be dying anytime soon, Thor is on their way, i bet that Green Lanter will have some lame game adaptation, i think Captain America will have one too, and oh man, i can't wait to see the Advengers game
