That will make is an even better and more ultimate console! I would so get it. Keep also in mind that it could be exclusive to the OLED version, or maybe an N64 mini. I don’t know I’m not an expert on hardware or things of that nature. I just wanted to share the wonderful news with you people.

Thoughts IF the N64 makes it to the switch?? Day one buy for me I say.

The rumor states that Nintendo has filed with the FCC.

I mean, they could have just released these games on sale through the eShop, years ago, but they want $20/year to trickle crap out through the subscription, what they want, when they want to. Maybe by 2025 we'll get Pilot Wings and Wave Race.

I personally would love Tetrisphere and hold onto that horrible subscription just to keep playing it. But Nintendo doesn't do what fans want.

@lamprey263: yes, however we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. The first order of business is a true confirmation from Ninty.

Glad to hear it. Now lets hope that every N64 game is sold for $49.99-59.99. I wouldn't mind them locking some items behind those $19.99 toys either, i think it adds more flavor to my gaming experience, i feel more immersed, personally.

@hardwenzen: will they even be selling them? They haven't done any VC/BC on Switch except through the subscription service so chances are your controller will only be about as good as your subscription.

At this point, with all the success they're having with the Switch, i feel like they can do wtf ever they want.

Probably going to add to the online subscription service. I’d be down with that. There are a few N64 games that I’d like to see on there.

Might just be BC or direct ports at best so Nintendo can get quick library padding.

Honestly, too little too late imo. Now it just sounds like more ports. More of Nintendo waiting until things are stone cold before doing anything about it.

I'm excited about a new F-Zero game in 2045, maybe a new Pilot Wings game a few years after that. :-(

@blaznwiipspman1: It seems as if they’re going to charge separately. But I can’t say for sure. Some of this stuff you’re going to have to wait for an official confirmation.

You dudes have way too much faith. Nintendo recently learned that they can print millions off of shoddy emulation.

Mario 3D All-Stars probably took two employees with laptops a couple of weeks to make. One for the UI elements, another to get the emu running.

There is hardware to rip the cartridges, allowing you to stay in good legal standing.

1st party games and few classic 3rd party stuff that you can count with your fingers, outside of that is there even a good library from the thing?

Regardless its better than nothing at all. Looking at you, sony.

Four years of nothing but a few crappy NES and SNES games, then release N64 games at the end of the Switch's life? Awesome idea.

Nintendo knows all about BEING cheap.

I think he means they don't know the concept of charging a commensurate price for their cheap/budget products.

That would be nice as there has been a resurge of N64 appreciation as of late (Turok remaster, Doom 64 remaster, Quake 64 being included as a "mod" in the remaster of the PC game).

I thought we were all waiting for the N64 Classic? In any case, most of the good N64 games are all on Rare hence Rare Replay that is but not Diddy Kong 64 or Goldeneye for that matter. Most of the N64 games have gotten their remakes/remasters meaning bringing N64 games is pretty much worthless at this point. I would focus on certain N64 games that have never seen the light of day such as:

  • Pokemon Stadium (Pokémon Company)
  • Pokemon Stadium 2 (Pokémon Company)
  • Diddy Kong Racing
  • Bomberman 64
  • WWF: No Mercy (I'm sure it'll change to WWE)
  • Quest 64
  • Snowboard Kids/2

The ones I mention never got an actual re-release and that is something I can get behind if they were to come to Switch.

@jasonofa36 said:

No one said they would be remastered, just straight-up ports. But to be honest, most of the N64 games have aged badly and I can never ever go back to playing N64 Turok games and their PC versions are where it's at.

@davillain-: "But to be honest, most of the N64 games have aged badly and I can never ever go back to playing N64 Turok games and their PC versions are where it's at."

I would be fine playing it with old graphics, that fog everywhere masking the short draw distance, but man I remember the controls and that would make it almost unplayable by itself.

Funny in hindsight too as at the time I thought the controls were revolutionary. Using the C buttons for forward/backward and left/right strafing and the analog to aim, getting accustomed to that totally changed my GoldenEye game as that was also a control option. It is one of the earliest things I can recall closest to today's dual analog setup, but in a southpaw format.

I definitely like to see N64 games on the Switch like Mario Kart 64, Zelda, Donkey Kong 64, Kirby 64, Pilot Wings 64, Starfox 64, Diddy Kong Racing.

Man, I remember playing OOT and Mario 64 on PC back in... well 20+ years ago. Oot ran just barely, N64 emulation was in its infancy. I own the real deal too, I just need a small tube TV to play them again.
