[QUOTE="-RPGamer-"]Hey looks like my collection save my spreads over more systems and doesn't include MMO entries. :)Blackbond
Heh, you guys have me beat. But mines is coming up. Got my copys of Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne as well. 2 Copies )
In all honesty the collection above is pretty much everything in terms of the PS products but really needs SNES, Genesis, and Saturn content to round it out.
[QUOTE="thrones"]Needs Chrono Trigger, and plenty of N64/SNES classics missing there :|-RPGamer-
It's got CT in there. :|
And the only classic RPG content on the N64 was PM and OB64... other than that the N64 completely sucked in terms of RPG content.
Yeah, just relooked. He's got it as part of the PS1 collection. Can't beat the original SNES cartridge though :P
Wild Arms! I loved that game. But no Wild Arms 2 :(
.... Damn it! Now I want to play both of them again.
That only further reminded me how much
Oh and the biggest issue with that collection would be the lack of WRPG to mix it up a bit and make it more diverse. -RPGamer-
As well as non-Playstation (I know you pointed that out already).
I mean no Fallout? Deus Ex? Planescape Torment?

Seriously, even though I love RPG, I couldn't stand to have such an unbalanced portion of the genre. Hell even I get tired of JRPG (or WRPG for that matter).
I didnt see KOTOR which ruins the koolness of this thread.
Whats the average time it would take to beat every single of those games?
EVOLV3
A "do the basics" run through on most JRPG is probably around 40-50hrs. A completionist can run many anywhere from 60-200hrs.

Take out random encounters and the sheer number of just thrown in there dungeon encounters in most JRPG"S and that time drops a lot.
Western dev's have learned that crap add's nothing to a game but time.

I never really like the "typical RPG's" for either side of the genre.
The Traditonal JRPG genre is usually just a snooze fest. I mean it's not the concept that puts me to sleep but how they are usually executed. One has to look at the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Things like fusiing, negotations, alternate dungeon level ups, and explorative design (is that the word?) was made standard for the series 2 decades ago. Sure they executed it horribly but in later years it became far more polished.
What I feel distressed with is that it seems that the traditional JRPG hasn't evolved in design or core mechanics since the SNES era. Now this is obvious because until very recently the genre was "mainstream" thus a lot of developers wanting a piece of the pie jumped in. We see this now with the Shooter genre. We see many shooters out today but the majority are just corridor shooters with minimum innovation. I'm not saying that the JRPG sub-genre doesn't get it's fair share of original games because it does (this year alone = Mana Khemia, TWEWY, Fragile, Oboro Muramasa Youtoden, Persona 3: FES, etc.) but the regular games (example Tales series) just don't do it for me because they just lack "meat" for the lack of word.
The WRPG genre to me more so is the opposite. I really loved the whole Deus Ex first person vibe and the Black Isle isomentric board game. But they've all seemed to be abandoned.
I bow down to your great RPG divinity, oh Great One.
No really, that's an impressive and overwhelming amount of RPGs you got there : with my hardcore nature at always trying to complete any game I play to 100%, this will be enough for my entire lifespan!
[QUOTE="SimpJee"]You mean fake RPGs? JRPG's suck.
Can't stand your turn ... my turn combat.

I love it when people post mis-conceptions (Board games back in the day *even DnD itself* had options to follow a more linear story) just to start crap.
Yeah I know, WRPGs have their sheer of turned based products, heck D&D is that "my turn, your turn" experience, which what was one of the main areas with RPGs derived from.
