Five people I kno very well own a Wii. Not one of those people use it. They would rather play on one of their other owned systems whether it would be the 360 or the PS3. The prime reason for this that I often hear is "Not enough games". I seem to be in the same situation. The thickness of the dust could be measured with a yard stick.
I have read many posts here pertaining to the same problem as well.
The bottom line: Nintendo is selling/has sold many of their Wii's. Too bad nobody is using them. It seems as time goes on, many will realized they have been "duped" by a gimmick controller and less-than-spectacular hardware. Great for Nintendo, bad for gamers.

First:five people =/= approx. 7mil. people. Just because five Wii owners do not like it DOESN'T mean that the remaining 7mil. or so Wii owners don't like it, as well.
Second:different people have different tastes. Just because I'm a HUGE fan of the MYST franchise DOESN'T mean that you and everyone else on the planet likes it, too. Conversely, just because games like Geist didn't garner very good ratings doesn't mean that everyone hates them. To bring this point full center, while "T3H H4RDC0R3" gamers might consider the majority of games on the Wii to be sub-par, consumers who are not as immersed or tuned into the gaming culture will most likely enjoy those games.
Third: who's to say against the possibility that some people might be posting on Gamespot using their Wii? :P

Nevertheless, I DO agree with you that there should be a balance between Wii games aimed towards casuals and Wii games with more depth, developed with the hardcore gaming community in mind. I also agree with you that developers should be more creative in the ways their games incorporate the Wii remote, and use the hardware that the Wii DOES have to its fullest.
...and that's about it.
