Thief and Deus Ex deserve a sequel

The former Thief deserves a new game that does it justice. Thief 2014 was not what we expected and the movement was not there. It was an ok game but not what Thief is capable of.

Deus Ex we know the story, an unfinished game split in two halves, the devs and publisher shot themselves in the foot with this one and the pre-order debacle. We deserve a proper Deus Ex game I wonder if anyone will buy the rights to each of these games or the Studio. Embracer seems to want to unload developers so we'll see!

Two IP's that aren't safe enough for devs to makes sequels for.

Thief 1&2 deserve the Nightdive treatment.

I played through Thief Deadly Shadows just recently and that game really holds up, doesn't need a remaster or remake, that would just be the icing on the cake.

Mankind United is excellent.

I'd love a new (good) Thief. Don't care much about Deus Ex. Human Revolution was ok, Mankind Divided wasn't very good.

VR would push these to "very very very good".

Really good.

If ever a game was suited for VR it's these.

There's a fan mode for Doom 3 but rather play the OG's

@Litchie: all I know about Mankind Devided is that its Prague city looks like City 17.

Also it has a pretty funny nickname with 'Content devided' as Square Enix was doing some absolutely shady things prerelease making sure every gamer missed out on something or another.

Original Deus Ex is literally greatest game ever made. Human revolution was good. not masterpiece. nowhere near original.

Yeah, I keep hearing how it's the best game ever made, which means it's overrated but must be good. Sadly never played it when it was current, and don't feel like playing it now.

Thief though. Amazing games, and I still can't believe no one else has filled its void. No one else wants to make or play a dark fantasy stealth game? Why?!

Ok, Dishonored exists, but that's about it. I even bought the stupidly titled "Thief" released in 2014 for 5 bucks in a desperate Thief-less state of life, and everyone was right. It sucked.

Might try Styx or something..

One thing I would like to mention folks is there are a ton of campaigns for Thief 1 and 2 via fan missions. The latest one is called The Black Parade which is basically a spiritual sequel with a different character that we deserved and it 100% completely free if you own the games which you can get cheap on gog.com for pennies on the dollar.

Deus Ex is the best cyberpunk sci-fi game ever!!!!

They tried to reboot Thief. They fucked it up.

As for Deus Ex, I don't think modern AAA development can do a Deus Ex game with the same scope and cleverness of the original. Maybe if they reduce the graphics and art direction budget, but AAA games can't have that.

Maybe it's time to let go.

Never tried either game. It seems both have a legion of followers.

Thief on PS3 was abysmal only bring it back if it's a remake of the pc/OG Xbox games.

Thief needs a proper new game. That 2014 one was terrible.

Deus Ex has a pretty good chance of being commercially successful now if someone were to make it. Actually if they have released it sometime in the last 4 years, it would have been a blockbuster hit due to all the hype surrounding CP2077.

I loved both Deus Ex games from Eidos Montreal and the f**k up with the sequel is squarely on Sh*tEnix. They should never have gotten Eidos in the first place.

AS for Thief, don't know if anyone can make a same game now. It's always, mah cinematics and character models. It's impossible for an AAA dev now to make a game like Thief anymore.

Wouldn't get a Thief now unless it was an indie game.

People like to bring up Dishonored but it's really nothing like Thief.

Same. As much as I like the Dishonored games, they are completely different from Thief. In Dishonored you have magic powers that can help you a lot while in Thief you're just a regular normal guy with no powers at all.

Styx is dope. Not quite as polished as Thief, Splinter Cell, etc. but a great series (especially the second game).

And yeah, can't go wrong with the Dishonored series. All of them are good. They give you the option of going full-blown lethal or non-lethal, and everything in between. Love those games.

There is also:

• Shadwen, a medieval stealth game with dual-character setup (think A Plague Tale)
• Aragami 1 and 2, really cool supernatural ninja-assassin game
• Invisible Inc., which is a stealth XCOM, more or less.
• Mark of the Ninja, arguably one of the best stealth games of all time.
• Stray, a stealthy cat-sim!
• Undetected, a retro throwback inspired by MGS
• Seven, an isometric action-RPG with stealth (think Diablo, but you play a sci-fantasy thief).

There's more, but those are some good ones from over the years.

Mark of the Ninja is indeed awesome, replayed it just a few weeks ago. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check the rest of the list out.

Great games. The 1st Deus Ex had an amazing story. Only played the 1st Thief but loved it. They don't make games like they used to which is why I stick to older games.
