interesting read, I agree w/ a most of it.

other than the VGcharts, a decent read.
competition is definitely good. Though, if Sony brings out their Playstation Premium, MS isn't going to lift a finger to compete there unless it's mind-blowingly better.
just hope MS doesn't get lazy and think their damage of the Sony brand this gen is enough. They should still shoot for 2nd regardless of what any fanboy thinks. if that's even relevant8)
they basically came into the console game to do just that, now they should take it more seriously, maybe?
They both need to be kept in check. Competition is good for the consumers.Agreed, MS needs to be kept in check.

Think of the difference though sony didn't pull half od what MS is doing this gen/last gen. Fees for live, ridiculously priced proprietary hardware, etc.

They'll buy 5 million without games, they'll work harder to earn one...
A silly second place doesn't matter to either company.
MS is profiting more than Sony at this point with their next gen system, so either way MS can't lose at this point.

Yes, sony has said ridiculous things and said stright up lies (4D, 120FPD, dual 1080p, etc.). Those lies never effect you wallet now did they?
Great read, things are indeed going into "Things just got serious" mode for Sony and Microsoft.
Watch out MS.

Early adopters of the PS3 here in the UK paid £425 for one at launch. I don't know what the exchange rate is like against the USD, but I'm sure they feel pretty gutted now.
^ They paid the price for being an early adopter, and the PS3 has features over the X360, sure games wise the X360 holds a small lead but feature wise the PS3 has more. You have to buy a ton of stuff( $80 wifi adapter, and a 100+ doller HDD, seriously?). Even then PS3 had blu-ray, w/o blue-ray the PS3 probably would have cost just as much or less than teh X360.
Xbox has been on cruise control for a few years cruising on the momentum earned from the beginning of this generation, so this article makes a great point.
Fanboy's don't understand how Timed Exclusives aren't great for gamers, but I would like to see those go away for more new IP's, and exclusives.
Let's face it, Timed exclusives are going to come out anyways, and I don't care if the game is shared with PS3, if it means that while both audiences get that game the same day, I also get new exclusive 1st party games.
Try explaining timed exclusives to fanboys, and it's a never ending circle argument.
Either way, I'm glad for games like Alan Wake, Bayonetta, and Heavy Rain. It's nice 2010 has seen some new IP's that are great games as well.
how this gen will end the truth
1 nintendo ds i dsxl dslite ds
2 wii
3 psp
4 ps3
5 ps2
6 360
7 ipad/touch -hence why its no danger for the competition
these sales put nintendo in the hot seat
wii having 70 million plus ds having 130 million plus psp at 60 mill plus ps3 at 30 somthing mill plus same for 360 ps2 already has 140 mill ,,
and ipad brings the rear

you mean last gen I didn't buy a multitap then learn that the slim didn't support it and had to buy a whole new multitap? you mean I didn't have to buy memory cards, hard drive, network adaptor? come back when what your saying is actually right, till then Sony pulled loads of BS last gen in terms of hardware, and promises of what they would deliver. Thanks for the damage control. So when the PS3 finally overtakes the 360 in worldwide sales, lems can counter saying its actually better because Microsoft can try harder now.
I couldn't care less who wins in the end, but if tough competition makes both companies kick it up a notch, well, I'm all for it.
I agree i have an xbox 360 and I pay for xbox live, sometimes it has a lot of problems that make the price not jsutified. If xbox live became free that would be nice. However the article fails to realize that Sony only has GT5 for this year if its even coming out, and Microsoft has Fable 3, Halo:reach this year Alan wake, natal Even Gears 3 for next year so even if sony caught up in sales microsoft would pass them again. But in reality we are the ones that win because if they are constantly fighting each other will get more price drops better deals and what not. The only real thing hey are competing for is our money.tehHaste
you know E3 is coming right? and games like infamous 2 and killzone 3 are as granted as gears 3?
that "only has GT5" is premature

You fail Sony got many other things than GT5 this year and next year.
I really don't see anything that will make Microsoft change much.
The only thing they should really concern themselves with is releasing their next system a year before Sony's nextso they can repeat their success.

That kinda did happen, until mid 2008 and 13+ million PS3s sold, "The PS3 had no GAMES!" according to the rest of the industry.[QUOTE="MC3887"]

I'm sure that PS2 BC that everyone has been crying about lately has increased the value of their system. ;)That read like somebody from System Wars wrote it. I'm sorry but I'm not taking anything seriously from someone that got their numbers from VG Chartz. Especially when they are basically using it to sing the same Song about how Sony is going to catch up to the 360 every year.
Whatever.
Sony is doing good stuff and that is great. They've finally woken up out of their stupor and are doing some really interesting things. Competition is good. An article from a clearly biased sourcewithfictitiousnumbersis not.
I am saddened that so many people think that was an excellent or good article. It was fluff. Plain and simple.
It could have been reduced to two lines. All 3 competitors are doing well enough to foster significant and meaningful competition amongst eachother. And compettion is good.
There was no analysis. There was no insight. Just two common knowledge points. Not what I would call decent critical thinking or a good read.
Oh well, it is SWs...what was I thinking?:D

I agree, and assuming PS3 does pass the 360, no way will MS make live free, also, does this article even consider all the great exclusives coming to the 360 this year? Momentum shifts happen to all three consoles regularly and the tables can turn at any time. That was a lame cows excuse of an article. The picture was funny though. Please Log In to post.
