What was the game that got you into gaming? Which system was it on? Are you still a fan of the series (if it turned into one)?

I can't actually recall what the first game I played was, but I believe the game that got me into gaming was:

Not sure if you know what this game is, but it's a compilation pack containing remakes of Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros 2, and Super Mario Bros 3. I used to play SMB3 a lot and I'm still a massive fan of the Mario platformers.

Nothing beats Mario in that genre I think. Anyway, think back a bit and try and recall what game got you into gaming. Which console was it on, and are you still a fan of the series? What do you guys think?

I purchased a ps1 in 1995(which still works today). But the first game that really got me into gaming?

Super Mario All Stars was probably my first console game, but I think that I played and enjoyed Donkey Kong Country more (especially DKC2).

As for PC gaming, I think it was a combination of Ultima VI and The Secret of Monkey Island that made me obsessed with PC gaming.

Also stuff like Prince of Persia and Alone in the Dark. Hmm...I remember playing lots of PC games back then.

Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Kart, Star Fox, and Donkey Kong Country.

But Super mario 64 was the first game that REALLY sucked me in and got me into gaming.

I was hooked on video games since I first picked up that light gun (the first game I remeber playing)

I got my N64 with 2 games, they weren't my first, but the were the ones that got me into gaming:

Oddly enough, I could never bring myself to enter the ghost houses due to being traumatised by said Doom 2.

It's pretty amazing how a game like Doom was scary back then but now its like nothing compared to F.E.A.R. or Condemned.jimmygrace

Doom still scares me, I suppose its because of the nostalgic feeling of playing it on my SNES all alone when I was a kid.

I remember hiding the Castlevania II: Simons Quest cartridge because I was too scared to watch my dad play it when I was little :lol:

I had been gaming for a while but..

^That + Quakeworld is probably what REALLY got me into gaming. When I first discovered Quakeworld I was playing online every night, until the early morning hours :P I've sorta been addicted to online gaming ever since.

I really got hooked though when I got Mario 64 though. Thats when I seriously fell in love with video games..

They had Doom on the SNES!? I was never informed of this. Then again, I did miss out on Mario RPG so...

The first Resident Evil was the game that really got me scared.I remember sleeping in the living room afraid to be in my room for like a month.

I just had to.

And yes, I'm a fan of Mario games.

I loved that game.

I've been playing games since I was like 3 or 4, but i'll say the game that got me started was when I was probably 8 or 9. It was The Outlaws for the PC, I loved that game.

All I played was Dark Forces and Outlaws for like a year or two.
