What action is done faster: mandatory installs or replacing an RROD'd 360?
LOL, 360. I'm definitely not getting a 360 until Microsoft fixes that problem

Ouch, and the Cows go to their go to defence in the first post.
who cares, other than fanboys? 2 of my fave games ever are re4 and shenmue and you had to switch discs. and never have i read a review of any game where they posted switching discs as a "negative." i dont see why people care about this stuff. i remember when loading times were becoming a big part of gaming as carts had none. but we all accept it now. as for mandatory installs.......still....who cares....you have to do it once. i cant wait to hear the arguments next gen....."whats better: going to buy the game at walmart while gas cost $6 a gallon or just downloading but not getting to take it to a friends house?" but as an answer to your question, i guess install would be faster, since you only do it once.

Just like Lemmings with the "PS3 has no good Games" defense?
Switching disks has never bothered me. It's never bothered any gamer. Fanboys should let this die.
Bluray is not needed for gaming. When all PC games ship on bluray disks, then it is needed for gaming. The PS3 has a bluray drive because this was sony's strategy for winning the hd format war. It worked, but it has hurt the ps3 far more than it has helped it.
I'm a PC gamer too, so I'm used to installs. It's not a big deal, but the PS3 comes with a tiny hard drive (40gb). And spending another $100 for another 40gb is crazy. $100 will buy you a 500gb hard drive for the PC all day long. PS3 owners will probably need to buy and additional hard drive. This is a drag but so is buying a wireless adapter for the 360.
I've had my 360 since 4/2006, and it has never given me any problems so I can't comment on RROD.

But crying about the time it takes to install is a worthy "defence"? One fanboy comment deserves another, dont you think?
nah its okay ...
my 250gb hdd can fill up watever installs tts needed.
sdu_1111
lol.
I dont see why peple are bothered by installs. not all games have them, and they are usually small. Plus the ps3 does not need them. Uncharted proved that.
the reason its used is because devs CAN. They cant with the 360 as not all 360's have a hard drive. which i think was a mistake.
Plus IGN game MGS4 a 9.9. and dont say that the site is bad all lems used it not long ago in the Haze arguments.
Plus it was 1 8/10 review, others are 5/5 and other perfect scores.
on gamesrankings the average score is 9.0. but they have not included IGN's score yet!

I thought it was supposed to be a 10 :)
Here it comes, the "anything less than a 10 it's a flop" case.
My gripe isnt the fact it takes 5-10 minutes to install a game, its the amount of space they take up on my already near full HDD. Im going to have to uninstall a game now when MGS4 comes out, which is a pain because what if i want to pop in GT5: P for a spin? Oh, i cant, i have to uninstall something else and then install this again.GazzaB
That's a legitimate gripe, I think. I used to not see the big deal because I have an ample amount of space on my HDD but some might not be so fortunate. At least you can easily upgrade your HDD, but other than that - I dont think waiting 5-10 minutes for an install is anything worth complaining about.

Looks that way, which is unfortunate, although i may wait it out and get the 80gb if ever released here.

bu mandatory installs are a good thing!!!!
It means I can buy a new hard drive and void my warranty. Even if I don't I can experience the thrill of uninstalling and renstalling games whenever I want to play them!!!!!
The PS3 really is just a crappier version of the 360

I'm using an external hard drive. You should get that since you will be able to use it with your computer too...it's better.
lol for a minute there, I was actually convinced that System Wars did indeed not have a sense of humor.Vaan7
maybe because your humor = blatant fanboy trolling?

The wii fanboys don't. And lol Vaan.
In all honesty, my problem isnt with the act of switching discs. Its only takes about 10 seconds in total, not a pain at all. My problem is that I have a little brother and older siblings/parents who dont much respect my games. So when they come to visit (or i go to visit them) they tend to move and misplace my stuff. For instance, A long while ago, my little brother lost disc 3 of FFIX. Now had he lost my Ratchet and Clank disc, i would have just gone out that same day and bought a new one. End of story, but when sumone loses 1 disc out of 4, I cant justify buying the whole game again!
Thats like buying a new TV because one of the buttons is broken. Now for sum people, that seems reasonable, but to me, im not rich and it feels like a waste. So now that this one disc is missing, i gotta spend countless hours looking for this single disc because god knows i would never forgive myself if i went out and bought the damn game again only to find the missing disc the next day
Or worse yet, what if one disc breaks? that freaking kills me! It almost makes me wish i could just buy that one disc from the retailer. I would rather just have the whole game be on one disc so that when that disc is lost/stolen/broken i feel that there is no other option but to buy a new one and i dont feel as bad about throwing my money like that.
