Depends on what you want to do with it. But assuming you're not in it to mod the hell out of the thing, my guess is you're just going to take it out of the box and play. From here, you have to identify a few things. 1) Do you have an HDTV? 2) Have you ever owned a previous console and which ones if you have? 3) What are your taste in games? 4) What do you plan on using it for? Games only or do you want multimedia capabilities as well?
Foremost, the third question is probably the most important if you're looking for a game machine, but the 360 appears to be the best "all-around" console of the bunch, offering a vast array of features, inferior multimedia capabilities (for the price) as to that of the PS3 but better than the Wii, solid online performance, aesthetic console and controller, and it's definitely a reasonable price when put into perspective. However, if you're a moderate gamer and would prefer to tread down a different road, go with the Wii, but if you were a dedicated PS2 gamer and have an array of those games, the PS3 will definitely be a solid console choice.Â
I own all 3, but the most recommendable, IMO, is the 360, followed by the PS3, and lastly the Wii. PS3's price is a doozy, which is it's one big weak point and the lack of software right now, too, is a bit irksome, but it's in a better state currently than the Wii is. There are very little titles outside of Nintendo's first party (Mario, Metroid, Zelda) for the Wii that outright take the stage and there's no big title slated at all until late summer or early fall. 360 has Mass Effect and Forza 2 this summer, plus all its previous library, while the PS3 is slowly garnering a very respectable library. PS3 is more of a long-term investment and if you think you'll take advantage of all its features, by all means take that one. The only way I can recommend the Wii is if 1) You've never played games before or hated how games were made for consoles previously or 2) If you're a light-gamer and would only play once or twice in a week or month for less than an hour.
My 2 cents.

I play my Wii constantly, thats a bad statement. Yes, its a good starter for people who hasn't played games before but it not anything that someone who has or liked the way previously wouldnt enjoy.Depends on what you want to do with it.

360 is prolly the best choice right now, because of the games and the online. i have a wii and i only have 3 games right now(Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario and Wii Sports. 4 if you count Super Mario 64) but i love it and if you want something different you should get it. nothing the ps3 has really excites me but im sure there will be some deadly games released for it in the next year or so. overall id prolly say get a 360 right now and pick up a wii later when some more good games come out and the online system is up and running
