GTA 6

TES 6

These games especially GTA are once a generation type games. Games the world stops spinning for. And yet, they were M.I.A this generation. Sure we got their little sibling games like RDR2 and Fallout4, but last gen we got all 4.

Even though we got to play some good games, this generation did not live up to past generations. Not to mention the lack of power the consoles had.

Next generation consoles will not only be a much bigger boost in power, but will also have these 2 games. It will be the best generation of gaming we have ever seen.

Where do you rank this console generation?

Nah, both franchises could use the break. Plus I am all for giving developers the time to create new experiences and not just rehash the same thing with a sequel. I expect the next TES and GTA 6 to both be large steps up from Skyrim and GTA V.

Good.

GTA is by far most overrated franchise of all time and TES is something who cares who cares.

otherwise i would rate this gen 7/10. it has too much problems, so many bad games, microtranasctions but its step up from previous geneartion. its ok.

But why GTA6? That franchise either needs to revamp or don't even bother trying at all. But I'm glad Red Dead Redemption 2 at least got the spotlight it deserves and that's more then enough I can ask for a Rockstars games. GTAV was okay but nothing really new.

As for TES6, Bethesda made it clear no new TES until next-gen consoles arrives and I couldn't agree more.

This gen has been great for me. RDR2 on PC was the best thing to ever happen.

TES needs a major upgrade in... Everything. As for GTA, I can take or leave it. I've bought GTAV twice, on PS4 and PC, and i've yet to complete the story.

Ah, but we did have those two games this gen; they're just named differently. Red Dead Redemption 2 is just GTA with realistic horse poop, while Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are just Elder Scrolls games with guns and shameless corporate greed.

Yeah, really badly. Nothing about the engine is appealing, so they just need an entirely new one.

I would rate this console generation as the absolute worst. It lacked new and exciting Ip's and filled with soulless cash grabs with major disappointments one after another. If next gen is as bad as this one I think I'm either going to quit gaming and find a new hobby or take a long break. This gen almost killed my passion for games that's how horrible it is to me.

While I certainly would have loved to have seen those games come out I would in no way call this gen a “failure” because we didn’t get them, that’s just plain silly. We’ve had a ton of great games this gen.

Yeah, sort of agree. While I wouldn't say "no" to a new Elder Scrolls, I really would prefer new titles or continuations of different ones.

Would like to see a new Sleeping Dogs game before a new GTA, and that won't happen any time soon.

@davillain-: GTA needs to revamp? In what way? They set the bar with every game. Upgrade the graphics and set it in another city is the only thing they need to do. GTA formula is unmatched.

Gen is better off not having a Rockstar or Bethesda open world game that plays bad and is shallow to boot. Like I'm sure their next games will be cute little technological achievements for the medium, but it will continue to be at the expense of actually making an engaging game. Aim higher pls.

Couldn't care less. ES is made by a dev that is incapable of making video games. GTA wastes Rockstar talent. I just cannot stand the drive from one town to the other, pick up a hooker, drive her to a club and get your reward. Incredibly boring games. Love RDR2, and had no issues riding a horse because the environment and the setting is actually great.

@hardwenzen: explain how rdr2 is any different than gta? Same kind of missions. Just because you enjoy cowboy setting doesnt mean the other settings suck. Show me a world that is more alive than a RS open world game.

Yes, rdr2 set the bar higher than gta 5. But RS sets the bar with each game they make. Rdr2>gta5>rdr>gta4. I expect to see gta6 blow the roof off the gaming industry just like all gta games did.

But i get it, this forum is filled with gaming snobs.

I do not share the opinion that a generation needs a GTA and Elder Scrolls game to be good. But there are a few series I'd like to see every gen, Elder Scrolls included.

Would be nice to have ES6 this gen, but they focused on other things. Terrible things, sadly. And I don't want the quality of a new ES game to be compromised by lack of time or focus. Bethesda has enough problems making games as it is.

I've said this several times and don't want to sound like a broken record, but the fact that they're updating the same engine once again (the one they've been using since Morrowind) makes me very unhyped about ES6. There's a high chance of it being clunky, buggy and quite ugly with that dinosaur engine. I'm just hoping that they change their goddamn minds about it and make / use a better one. I'll probably still play it, but come on Bethesda. Stahp. Learn your people to work with other engines already. I'd gladly wait another year for the game if that's what it would take. /end rant

Don't care about GTA. I check it out everytime there's a new one and end up going "meh". 60 bucks is too much to play a few missions before getting bored of their mission structure and proceed to fool around in the world for a few hours. Only way I'd play another GTA would pretty much be if I didn't have to pay for it, am really bored and out of options.

Bethesda needs to re-evaluate its development process because their games play like shit. I just couldn't get into Fallout/Skyrim. But then again, the games sold like crazy, so it's perhaps just me.

Its not only the setting itself, but also the voice acting, characters, story, etc. When i look at GTA, i see a city. If i wanted to drive in a city, i'd take my car and drive from one side of my city to another. I want my game worlds to be something i can't get in real life. This goes to all games base on a real/semi real cities. I just cannot stand real life'ish city level when you're walking and driving around. So boring.

They don't need a new GTA at this point. They are making a shitton of money with GTA online. As far as I'm concerned, they can take their time. We don't need sequels returning every gen. I'd rather see new IP than a sequel.

GTAV released so late last gen and with the big upgrade the game got for current consoles and PC it ends up feeling like a game built specifically for this gen. It's still one of the best looking open world games.

RDR2 is really similar to GTA in terms of what you actually do. The tone is more serious and obviously the setting is different, but the type of missions and just how the game is structured is basically copied over from GTA.

GTA and TES 6? I would give them both a big PASS.

Both of them have incredibly dull formulas with dull gameplay in every aspect. Even the "freedom" in both is quite limited, and I find both to be quite restrictive compared to many other titles, both competing open world titles and even linear games.

As long as Trump is in office, Rockstar is unlikely to make GTA 6. You literally can't write the type of satire GTA is known for, especially in politics.

If there is a GTA 6, it'll have be in the 80s or early 90s. It can't be set in the modern era, due to how ridiculous today's culture is.

Polyphony Digital, Bethesda, and EA are the main failures for this gen in my opinion. GT Sport was a joke at launch and although it's improved a lot since then, a gamer shouldn't have to deal with joke with incomplete, broken, or Micro-transaction ridden games from successful companies like these.

Namco Bandai has been my favorite company this gen dispute them doing a thing or two I consider...questionable toward this latter half.

So are you saying next gen already doesn't fail be default?

I mean.. I'm not saying this gen didn't fail. Besides a small handful of games the only thing that impressed me is that the consoles didn't feel like beta versions from the previous gen and things felt better overall. Sucks the games weren't as good though... so it's bittersweet. Things are already looking up to me for next gen though, so I'm probably more excited for it than I was for at least the previous 2.

Rockstar has not taken a break. GTA V gets constant updates and the game is still selling very well. Just in 2019 20 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V were sold.

I think the success of GTA V's online mode is likely to shift Rockstar's focus on GTA VI to something I'm not very interested in. TES isn't needed anymore. There are better open world games and much better action games out there.

Personally I wait both of them. I really liked GTAV, bought it for PC and completed EVERYTHING! I loved the story a lot, also farmed some special things like the alien car. TES also something I like a lot from Oblivion, to Skyrim, liked the new expansions with the vampires and the new continent.

I hope something new and cool arriving ;)

I think the problem has been how successful GTAV online and TES online are.

There is no motivation to invest so much to make a new game when these older ones are still making them a ton of money. Even worse, they would probably cannibalize sales of the existing online games. A non negligible amount of users of the online games are only interested in the single player part of those games and are only buying this older titles because they dont have other options.

That is the problem for me that us, single player players, have with online game. They make so much money and they require such a constant influx of content that they monopolize all of the resources of many large game developers.

What led you to buy it twice? I am honestly interested. I keep seeing this game so high in steam top sellers list so long after release. People keep buying it and simply dont get the appeal. When it was new i kind of got why, but now? there is so many much more interesting games coming out all the time.

Soon as I read this topic header I knew the two games that would be named. I agree, and what it shows is that game development takes too long now, and that games are becoming too high in their budgets.

Then again, both Rockstar and Bethesda spent too much time with online projects this gen.
