I love me a good boss fight, the villains always make or break a metal gear game for me...but it seems like this gen has been somewhat lacking in epic memorable boss fights.
Anyway, thoughts?

I still think the bosses in Metroid prime 3 are awesome. The bosses in nmh games are pretty much the only reason you play the game. I never got around to playing the metal gears solid games but i will most likely buy the remakes.
I guess, that since Shadow of the Colossus was released sometime after the 360 it does count. I will go with that.
The bosses in Demons Souls were very hit and miss. You have some fun bosses like the tower knight and flamelurker. But others are very bland, like the every boss in Valley of Defilement and Phalanx.
corpser fights were fun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R5fASe0O0w&feature=channel_video_title and looks like gears 3 keeps the fun
Never played bayonetta but the bosses in GOW3 are the ones that come to mind when asked this question. Especially poseidon. That **** was crazy. The rest of the game was kind of meh with its set pieces. Chronos was pretty cool too but it felt a bit too scripted. Great to show off the game to other people though.
The MGS 4 bosses were pretty decent, but compared to the likes of Psycho Mantis, The End, The Boss, Ninja, Sniper Wolf? Not that great. Vamp was the best boss character in MGS4, but the fight itself was pretty meh. However, the climax with Ocelot is one of the greatest moments in gaming IMO. CHILLS.cyclops10
The end boss was great but the others are awful compared to previous MGS titles. They were so easy and I didn't even care about them. I just wanted to fly passed them to continue the story. The older MGS games have excellent boss fights. The End was my favourite because the fight could last a long time
most definitely. In general, SotD has actually been one of my favorites this year. I agree with a lot that has been said in this thread. I also wanted to contribute Sin & Punishment: Star Successor and Muramasa: the demon blade.Just throwing this out here, Shadows of the Damned had some pretty cool boss fights!

I can't believe no one has said WoW, it had simply the best boss mechanics ever featured in a game.

I agree the Vamp fight was meh, his repeating lines were so annoying after a while.

I take your third point fully and apologize, I don't however take the 2nd or 1st. Dumb? Go look at some ICC bosses and the coordination they require.
Otherwise, it goes to the god of war franchise hands down - Probably god of war 3.

People on my server PuGed ICC every week, I am not too sure about the coordination part. Bosses in WoW were too scripted for my tastes. And all in all just felt like a check list, boss does X, players respond with Z. Bosses are too static in not only WoW but most mmos out there.
As for the dumb part, I am referring to the threat system and aggro, bosses attack the one with the highest threat.
