That is impressive, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Cell processor COULD do something similar to it, but I have to admit it has little to do with gaming.

No it isn't. The human mind is incable of viewing anything in 4D nor can we perceive anything in 4 dimensions. That animation is still a 3 dimensional shape. What the hell this has to do with system wars is beyond me.

4D could mean lots of things. 4D ultrasounds are already widely used, and it's just 3d models that are see thru. OOOOHHH! I don't understand why any new system including Wii couldn't run that gif, so what's special about this?

Always a good way to enter a discussion and make your point heard. How exactly would not knowing this obscure fact about Sony's promises makes anyone "not too bright" again?

Well, actually - although the Vikings were the first Europeans to have discovered America, (and to have set up a small colony if memory serves me correctly?) apparently the Native Americans were already present when the Vikings discovered America.

Yeap, we can'tsee the fourth dimension (according to current physics theories that derive from string theory) If you were able to see the fourth dimension you would see for any object it's current state and it's past and futures states all at once. Basically a lifelike timeline of that object. yOu really can't comprehend how that would look, since we can't see it. If someone wants to know the other dimensions, just pm me lol, it's gets even crazier.

And did someone say that sony said they could use the fourth dimension in gaming. I would really like to know how they plan to do that.

well I think this is refering to the fourth spatial dimension, which is probably beyond human visualization and perception, considering the fact that we can only exist in three dimensions at one given moment in time.

The Fourth Dimension is Time. Anything rendered in real time would then be considered 4D.

This is a Tesseract which is the forth dimension of a 3D cube. This is where motion along the fourth dimension is often a representation for bounded transformations of the cube through time. Any questions that aren't stupid?

and technically this is a two dimensional object representing three dimensions representing four dimensions, so its not even close to being accurate.

Even if it could control the fourth demension, no one would know of it as humans can comprehend only up to 3 dimensions .... it's like having a graphics card for your PC able to push out 120 fps if the human eye can only notice 90 changes a second ...

For those of you who don't know the fourth dimension is time so nothing can be is 4D. (that is what i heard) The closest thing to 4d game we have is Prince of Persia: Sands of time trilogy, one of my all time favourite game. It is 4d since you can control time in it.

I've just done some reading on the many dimensions of the universe. Time is not a spatial dimension. The image posted on this topic represent the fourth spatial dimension as mentioned before by oen of the posters. He also said their are theories of ten or eleven dimensions which theorists believe some of which compacted while the dimensions we are aware of exploded to form the universe as we know it. The big bang theory. What the PS3 '4th dimension' refers to if i remeber correctly is grapics through time. There are basically two meanings when refering to the fourth dimenion, time and the fourth spatial dimensiin. Now there is a third when refering to computers.

That is how I understand it anyways. If I'm wrong please elaborate.

, I've seriously had a good laugh reading this thread. I can't believe people are still all over the PS3 4D thing, and trying to explain it!

If I hadn't already done it enough times I would enlighten you all on this subject matter, but I did it enough times when Sony first mentioned their 4D powers .

That clearly only has 3 dimensions, were did all this 4d **** come from? do cows not understand that its impossible to have a 4th dimension? there is width, hight and depth......whats the 4th?

and when i say its impossible to have a 4th dimension i mean in video games. and im talking about the graphics......if time is really the 4th dimension then whats the big deal? games have had day/night cycles for a long time.
