I don't get why consumers are letting developers and publishers milk them like this. It's pretty sad.
Are you going to complain when they anounce DLC for Uncharted 3? There is most likely going to be lots if the game is succesful.
It completely depends on the DLC. If it's nothing but map packs, I have no interest.
If they're additions made to the game due to fan reaction, I'd be ok with it.
Give me the link to where they announce a 4 or 3 pack DLC already coming, and i will surely complain about them to,is not just about MS don't you get it the more people support this the worst it gets across all platforms, this also apply to sony and any game developer that do this things. Which is why the thread is not directed at MS or Epic alone. Are you going to complain when they anounce DLC for Uncharted 3? There is most likely going to be lots if the game is succesful.

Oh i am sure they strip it from the game. This is Epic we are talking here, this people never come months in advance saying how many DLC they will sell you,in fact Epic love giving free stuff away for its games,i know i have been a UT owners for years.Planned DLC doesn't exactly mean the DLC is ready. They may have plans to start on the DLC once the game ships, or may have started when the game went gold (assuming it has).

Why does it matter? Gears DLC is ussually just a bunch of maps, don't like DLC don't buy it, simple as that.

Uhhhhh, there is absolutely no indication that it was stripped from the game.
If a company can get away with charging for P2P online play it sends a message that you can pretty much get away with anything so expect more and more of this kind of stuff by everyone.kuraimen
Like how Sony can get away with making you pay to get better deals?
The way I see it is that the consumer just needs to be smart about what they choose to consume... Take LA Noire for example. To me that game was adaquate... not great just good and when the DLC pass came out I kinda weighed the choice, "do I need more of this game or....?" So Instead of spending the money on DLC I bought Bioshock 2 for 15 bucks new and got a whole new experience as opposed to extending the experience I already had. I dont mind devs providing DLC and extending the life of a game, but a smart gamer knows when to cut ties with a game and move on... be that.
4 dlc and exclusive liquid metal weapon set. 30 dollars. that comes to 6 dollars a pack including the weapon set. It's $30 after a discount? That is ridiculous.

Exactly, so why complain about it? I simply indicated that there was no guarantee it was stripped. It's possible it was worked on after the game was finished.
For all we know, the DLC could be great. It seems you are pre-emptively complaining about something which could very well be awesome.
Seems to me that announced dlc does not equal cut dlc, but your very weakly covering up Microsoft and Epic bashing by saying oh other companies yet you only mentioned one other game that did it.
epic has atleast 4 dlc planned not including weapon skins and such, so they announced a season pass that will get you the first 4 dlc packs and an exclusive weapons kit for 33% less then if you purchased them all individually and that wouldn't include the exclusive weapons pack either.
As I said Planning dlc does not mean cutting dlc.

Sams and Cotsco do this is an accepted policy, since the products they sold most of the time are way more expensive in other stores. For example the DS3 controller for the PS3 is $42 dollars in the Sams i go to,go to gamestop and see how much it cost.! $54.99 we are talking about a saving of $13 dollars in just 1 controller,my membership was $40,so in 1 item alone i already got back more than 1 quart of my investment.[QUOTE="FoolwithaLancer"][QUOTE="kuraimen"]If a company can get away with charging for P2P online play it sends a message that you can pretty much get away with anything so expect more and more of this kind of stuff by everyone.tormentos

Just because he failed to mention more example doesn't mean this is a MS/Epic bashing. EA has done it too with their launch dlc for Dead Space 1/2 and many other games.Seems to me that announced dlc does not equal cut dlc, but your very weakly covering up Microsoft and Epic bashing by saying oh other companies yet you only mentioned one other game that did it.

I very rarely purchase DLC. It is hardly ever worth the cash. The only DLC I don't regret getting is the GTAIV DLC.
4 dlc packs 1 exclusive weapon set. This comes out to 6 dollars a pack. Season pass is 2400 mspoints saving you 33% off buying each dlc seperately and would end up not including the weapon set.
There is nothing shown that say content was cut considering the fact I dont believe there has been any proof that content was cut for dlc purposes on gears 1 and gears 2 either.
Planned dlc does not mean cut content, It juts means planned dlc.
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/29/gears-of-war-3-gets-30-season-pass-first-dlc-in-november/ The game isn't out and already 4 DLC are on the way,is impossible that this content wasn't strip from the disc, the same was done with LA Noire as well,is ok to talk about DLC when your game has 7 or 8 months, but months before release.? In my opinion things will get even better,as there would be tons of people who will bite for this, the more people support this crap the more common will get, there will be a point where half a game will release for $60 or $70 and the other half for the same amount.tormentos
Don't like it? then dont buy it. Its simple really. If its "waaaa coming out toooo sooon" then wait 7-8 months and then buy the **** People will jsut rage about everything. A season pass comes out that saves you money and people rage jeez.

I'm not defending PS+ but your argument doesn't make any sense. If all you want to do is play PS3 games online, you don't need PS+ to do so. If you want to play online on the 360, you need a Gold membership. That's the difference. Also, you do get bonus features on PS+ now, like cloud saving, which is actually tempting me now.
I think to all from the start this gen,DLC started in a bad way with the 2 and half dollar Oblivion horse armor, after that it has been a roller coaster, now DLC is plan before the game is even launch, which wasn't the idea in the first place, the idea was to actually bring life to older games, not to strip content and over charge people for maps, which happen on both consoles by the way. There just planning it (probably).
But yeah DLC is the worst thing this generation to me.

My original argument was to a guy who said Live is a ripoff because you pay for Multiplayer, so I was questioning him as to wether he believes it's a ripoff that you have to pay for deals, I know you get a lot of extra features with PSN+, But you get a lot of extra features with Live as well.

To be fair, we don't know what the Gears 3 DLC will be... what if it's really good and expands the game in a better way? Planned DLC isn't an issue. Isn't it better, in a way? Instead of DLC being a cheap after thought, isn't it better that the development team is planning something that they can't fit into the initial release? The game releases soon, maybe they have more ideas. While they develop that, maybe they'll listen to fan reaction and deliver what they want.
If it does turn out to be crappy (which is the most likely scenario), like some uninspired map pack or something, then don't buy it. But if it's Borderlands/GTA4 great, why not?

Costco and Sams are store that give you discounts for a fee,you will actually get your investment and them some, for example for a car stereo with speakers i payed $90,that same radio was at a local shop here for $30 dollars more with the same speakers.

Actually no because with PS+ no portion of the game that already paid for is locked if you don't pay. Half the base price of the game is too much. Granted, these guys aren't the first to overcharge for DLC, and they're definitely not the last, but L.A. Noire did the bundle thing earlier this year too and offered a better deal. Ten bucks and they gave you access to all DLC released and any DLC they release in the future. Compared to what Rockstar did with their pass, the Gears deal just falls short.
So you dont like the deal dont take it but its still a good deal. It doesn't fall short it gets you the dlc for less then normal price that fact already makes it a good deal. P.S: by the way the rockstar pass was 10 dollars then it raised in price on both psn and xbox live and the content it offers is majority simple cases they offered to pre order purchasers without rockstar pass each of the case dlc would cost 320mspoints combined like 1290ms points so your still getting 33-40% off with the rockstar pass. So its not that much better of a deal. Not free on PC, You have to pay your bills to play online. Be my guest it still doesn't change the fact that with Live MS is charging people to unlock the online multiplayer portion of games which is a rip off IMO.[QUOTE="FoolwithaLancer"]Not free on PC, You have to pay your bills to play online. I could go on much longer for games its an issue. And if I do sequels like you, then its even longer. Right. You do get bonus features with Live. I just think the "pay for deals" thing is a bit off. Most deals you pay for in some way. Buy 2 get 1 half off, you still have to buy the first 2 to get access to the deal. You'll save a crap load in the long run if you shop at Sam's Club, but there's a member's fee. Etc etc.
Or it may be finished already and they're purposely leaving it out of the game to charge for it later.Planned DLC doesn't exactly mean the DLC is ready. They may have plans to start on the DLC once the game ships, or may have started when the game went gold (assuming it has).
