This is the sad truth...

I beg to disagree on high settings (everything except shaders which was at medium) 1280 x 1040, 2x AA.. The game was certainlly not the same from what I have saw it in alot of the videos.. I also would like to add I found the game very off balance.. Some areas looked great while inter mixed was horrible looking things.. Some of the tree looked god awful.. Not nit picking, just saying from the settings i had it on it most certianlly did not whoop every game out there..sSubZerOo

I found Bioshock more pleasing to the eyes over all.. Not saying its over all superior but its far more uniform.. It reminds me of CoD4.. Some parts of that demo I played looked absolutely spectacular other parts such as some of the textures were pretty ugly..

My computer isn't the best, it's 8800GTS 320mb, AMD X2 Dual Core 5200+ 2.60Ghz, 3gigs of ram, and 500watt psu. Ilived

Aside from the fact that your CPU isn't a Core 2 Duo, it STILL is a dual core processor as opposed to single core. Plus you have the highest end Nvidia card there is or very damn near to it. If that isn't "the best" or close enough to it, just what the hell is? :| Sorry to say, but you sound kind of spoiled.

Decent story? A hero that some how can an army of aliens to stop the extinction of mankind.. Yeah never heard that one before... Compelling characters?Master Chief? Original name indeed, his armor is so unique specially with teh motocross helmet he is wearing.. He doesn't even say anything for crying out loud... I find it hilarious that you some how think the characters were compelling enough to pay attention, yeah Sarge.. So origianl.

Not saying its a bad game, but to say that it had good characters is rediculous..

The game "recommended" me for high settings and I was thrilled. After reading lots of benches I thought I would run this game lower......

Anyways, yes, the game looks amazing (even w/o AA on med to high settings). I think this game is probably closer to a lock to AAA IMO after going through the demo again. The destructible environments are awesome.

1st of all mass effect doesn't have crap combat. did you read the gi review? it says it takes a leap forward in rpg gameplay. it has its' flaws of course but if a game had crap combat they wouldn't have given it a 9.75. halo 3 did have compelling characters. when keys died i almost cried :( you are right though crysis on full settings does look better than any game currently out. far cry 2 will beat it out though i think.

did i deny that there were problems? no. did you overstate the problems? yes. did mass effect still receive a 9.75? yes. were those problems enough to give mass effect a less than great score? no. are you a tool? yes.

I took it as him saying it's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. The evidence he's using? The game got a 9.75 out of 10. What "damage" is he exactly controlling here? a 0.25 off the score?

Either way, combat in Mass Effect is basically irrelevent. Combat in Crysis and combat in Mass Effect have two different aims: You play Crysis for the gameplay, you play Mass Effect for the story. Games have multiple forms of entertainment. It's why it can be classified as an art. Just like how some movies keep you enticed through non-stop actions and explosions while some use deep intertwining story arcs.

Even if you are right that Mass Effect has bland and dull combat, it's hardly the point of the game. If Crysis had bland and dull combat, it would most likely defeat the purpose of the entire game (although some people are calling it a Graphics Engine with a game attatched -- not by me, I wish I had a rig that could play anything except for WarCraft 3 and Everquest 2 on Very Low settings).

I just played the Crysis Demo and umm..... I didn't play around with settings too much.... just selected optimal settings, and it put everything on "MEDIUM"..... it looked okay, except for some god awful textures on alot of objects. I tried to use AA to reduce the jaggies, but 2x AA didnt seem to work, it looked worse actually and bogged down my system to about 2 frames per sec.

Anyways, Crysis is absolutely average unless you've got a JUGGERNAUT of a rig.

I'm running a:

Pentium D 3.4Ghz

2 Gigs of 800Mhz RAM

Nvidia 7900GTX - 512MB

Crysis is the best looking game i have ever seen, I can run it @ 1680 x 1050 noAA &AF but everything on high (on xp, so can't set very high) and i'm getting average 35fps and it's very smooth. No slowdown at all. The shadows and lighting are amazing. Also the gameplay is just as impressive, trying to hide and having the building colapse around you is something else.

Sorry console fanboys, you'll have to wait for your next gen consoles to get anything even close to this game
