A simple Mssg with Lets play MGS4 as the subject.Once you are in the MGO servers, thanks to Konami great idea, you will have to invite him differently, though if you already have him in your MGO friend list, you can join his game, or have him join yours. MGO has the worst friend system around. Most of the other games have game invites.
Seriously, are gamers retarded or something? Or is it just hate ignorance?
How do you add someone to the ingame friends list?

sounds like alot of work with no way for the user to think of doing all that to me..Im not going to defend the MGO interface because it is crap, and is a complete different thing from PSN ID, as other users and myself have said. Konami choosed to host their own service, with personal IDs, to avoid people sharing content and such. The XMB is still accessible from MGO, and you are not logged out from the PSN, this is something real users know, and separates fakes from actual owners. If the user does not know how to add a friend, then he really is just stupid. I dont have the will, nor the time to post how simple the options are in MGO, since you have the option to add friends, and keep track of them. but its completely separated from the PSN.

So he will see this message pop up while he is playing MGS4 and then come play COD4? If not then TC is right.[QUOTE="hopesfall2own"][QUOTE="kenshinhimura16"]But what if he is busy on MGS4?[QUOTE="vaderhater"][QUOTE="EVOLV3"]MGO is run on seperate Konami servers and have nothing to do with Sony, any other game, COD4 for example, has easy inivte, you just press click on a friend whos in COD and press invite.kenshinhimura16

Ah, thanks for calling me stupid. But i tried what you suggested. You can not add a friend to your friends list in that personal file. Its currently blank and there is no option to add a friends name in the list. Its says you can edit friends information, assuming you have friends already in the list. The only other option i see is the ability to search for a friends name IF he is online, presumably in MGO...so that is one option i will explore tommorrow. Thanks for your kind help and understanding.

Son uniformity is missing on PSN is what you are saying... cause individual develoeprs can all put different methods for each game... that sux!
Where something fails, something else shines.
I think it's mostly Konami's fault, on COD 4 you could just go into the lobby and click on invite friend and bam!! Thats easy.... But the PSN is free considering the price for XBL i'd prefer the PSN whether i like it or not. FREE!!!! AND PLAYSTATION HOME!!! Coming soon. Geeh i'm gonna love my PS3.
Yeah, people on this board never admit this, but there's a reason PSN is free.
But yeah, your title is a bit misleading. PS3 is awesome, but I got to admit, for $4.50 a month, xbox live whoops PSN, wether or not fanboys deny it.

I guess the same could be said about 360 fanboys that seem to think PSN never works and isimpossibleto use. They are both very good. XBL has an edge on it. It's just not as big as some would like everyone tobelieve.
First off this isn't where the ps3 fails you can't blame the ps3 for metal gear online which was made by konami. You should blame konami for not making invites on THEIR GAME EASIER.fistoflight
Its also PSN's fault, or Sony's, in a way, for not creating a uniform environment for developers to work with. This hob-nob, miss-match, do what-ever-you-want online environment just leads to problems like this.
MGO is ridiculous. I played it twice, had decent fun with it... but it's not worth the trouble. I actually kinda like Konami a little less for making us use "Konami IDs" instead of our PSN IDs.
How can such an amazing single player game get the online multiplayer part soooo wrong?

Point being, they HAVE to be on COD4.. just last night I invited my friend who was playing halo, to a game of tiger woods. We were playing in 4 minutes :)

It's just as easy in COD4.
You must have played before the XMB update.
Xbox Live is better yes, but you are wrong about how easy it is to get a COD4 match going.

no kidding. MGS4 was awesome. MGO? not so much.

I was playing COD4, saw my friend sign in and was playing Warhawk...jumped out of COD4 and joined him in Warhawk in 4 mintues. :|
but yea PSN sucks hard:roll:
I do not have any experience with PSN, which is why I choose not to criticize it. Can someone familiar with it tell me if it has any features similiar to the following scenario:
I am playing GameA and my friend is playing GameB. We are both on a private chat channel talking while playing are respective games. A mutual friend comes online and invites us both to play GameC. We both exit out of our current game, still chatting, and load up GameC and join him instantly. Is this type of streamlined design available on PSN?
Another scenario is game hosting. If one player is hosting a room for any given game, you can go and view one of your friend's Friends List and send an invite to anyone from their list to play. Is there anything available like this?
MGS4 just generally sucks in the online department :P
Play any other game and its easy. Moretstorm, COD4 and R6V2 all have an invite system, and in warhawk you can join a game your friend is in easily.
Its MGS4, I think the online componetn was more of an afterthought tbh.

It really is a very big gap. Not just in general uniformity but also the data transfer speed is much, much better on Live.
No. I guess instead of having a actuall button to push to go straight to his game after getting up and installing the disk for that game. We just get a text invite and put disk in and go to the server or get his invite from the game. I don't normally chat with friends while playing seperate games, sounds interesting though lol.
Really no difference except the ease of pushing the button to go to his room, you still have to get up and load the disk (most of the time). Don't get me wrong what you've described is very nice but not nice enough for me to pay $50 for. And last I've heard through the rumour mill is that we'll get that same feature in the near future for free on psn. And that said feature is really the biggest and most helpful gaming feature that xbL does have over psn. So whats going to be said when we do get it?
