This may be awkward, maybe borderline stupid..but does anyone roleplay in games?

So if I'm done the story mode of a game, and feel like messing around in the single player, I sometimes make up my own stories...in my head.

For example, in spiderman2, I would often swing around NYC and 'pretend' things were happening. I would fight NPCs, skydive, and do other things, but I would always add my own personal context to what I did. I would maybe mimic the story from a spiderman episode I had watched earlier or something, I don't know. Maybe it's not spiderman at all.

It's kind of an evolution of when you were 7 and you would grab your toys and make them fight each other, or something.

GTA is another good example. After the stories in single player are tapped out, I would kind of make my own mobster story as I freeroamed around the city. Holding hostages, fighting off coppers, doing stunts, and I would be formulating a kind of story as I go. I would completely rearrange the character's personality as I go, and again, pretend everything I was doing had a story-related context, a story which I had conjured in my mind.

You may call it stupid, but I call it imagination, and I think it's fun.

Anyone else do this?

Other games that come to mind include Fable, the Sands of Time, KotOR.

On a final note, I'm not some 30 year old shmut living in my mom's basement with no job eating pizza and gaming all day. I'm a high school kid with maybe a bit too much free time.

Its good to have imagination.

Yeah, I do that all the time.

It's called excercising your imagination, and not only is good for your mental health, it also adds alot of replay value to games.

Haha yes, all the time! Glad to know I'm not the only one who does it. I do it in games like GTA4, Spiderman 3, Assassin's Creed ( even though I despise that game now ), and recently MGS4.

Well, you're having fun while playing video games. What more can you ask for? It's a good thing.

I roleplayed Spiderman 2 when I was playing Kirby Air Ride in City Trial Mode 8)

I still do it for teh lulz. It practically redeemed my purchase of such a crappy and disappointing game.

yes i have done this to some extent. we are a creative bunch with wild imaginations. ive been told my whole 24 years of life that i had quite the imagination. i think the little boy in me will live forever inside me and it is something i am very proud of, because so many ppl grow up and get wayyy to uptight and serious about being an adult. the truth is, you can grow up, and be both an adult and kid at the same time. plus girls like it lol no joke :D
