Totally depends man, what if Sony markets a price drop on PS3 along side GOW 3 release, then even the release of this game wont off set that storm.

And its not likely that every HALO named game will be an instant AAA title. Im guessing that you wont play as master chief in this game, and bungie is going to be taking a new spin to it? So yes die hard halo fans will get this without a second thought, but those who have been disillusioned by halo 3 will be paying close attention to reviews b4 its purchase (lets at least admit that a good deal of halo 3 owners didnt think it lived up to the hype entirely). So my guess is that this game wont warrent huge pre-orders, and not as big of a opening day release blow out, but it will still sell.

It'll be very popular no doubt about it. It will get great scores and sales will skyrocket. MS having 2009 on lock is pure speculation. We know nothing about 2009 other than hand full of games.

Halo 3 was because it had Bioshock, Mass Effect, and arguably the best lineup of 07 for consoles backing it up.

A lineup wins the year, not 1 game. Something Cows aren't getting over this year(even though so far its been all MGS 4)

Halo 3 didn't make the 360 win 07..... At all... In a SW context..

It was massively hyped, massively marketed, sold a huge amount and got good reviews. Thats about it.

Is may be a little too soon to say that. 2007 we had Halo 3 and that year was more like a Wii year (GOTY, sales, great exclusives, etc).

Undenyable, it is a big (better said huge) gun from MS. Add that to Mass Effect 2.

It looks that the 360's 2009 lineup will not be so weak as some "future-tellers" said.
