I went to my Brother in laws this past weekend and he owns a 360 and bought the Wii for his boys ages (4 & 7), with a total of 3 Wii-motes and trying to connect all 3 Wii controllers at once is the biggest pain in the butt i've ever gone through on any console.

With the 360 and PS3 you just a push button on the controller you want connected and your done, with the Wii you have to go into a specific menu push the 1 & 2 buttons just right while holding the remote in front of the sensor bar until it connects and then start your game, and every time we started the game the remotes disconnected.

They all had new batteries, and without exaggeration they had to be reconnected 14 times while only playing 2 games, my older nieces (14) and nephews (17) went through the same problems.

So let me reiterate by saying the Wii is the biggest joke in the gaming industry today, regardless of sales. Time has proven that sales doesn't equal intelligence just people financial straits.

Oh noes! Don't buy a Wii, the controllers are terrible!

Well, they are but anyway. It might just be a hardware problem. Anytime I've ever played a Wii the Wii-motes worked fine.

You've obviously failed to synch up the wii remotes properly, as i(and many other wii owners) can turn two wii remotes on with the push of a button.

I havent' dealt with a new wii remote since launch, but that is my guess. You've not successfully synched them to the wii.. the option you'r describing is there to allow you to easily bring your wii remote to your friends house and use it. But with in house wii remotes, you should be able to synch them up such that with the push of the button they turn on.. you can reaccess that menu you described with in house wii remotes to change the order(who's controller 1) though, which is quite convenient.
I suggest reading the manual for the remotes or in the wii console box to help you, it's all there i'd imagine. What you should have to do is open up the battery case for a wii remote and find the little blue button(i believe it's blue!). Push the synch button on the wii console(there are only a handful, it shouldn't be hard to find :P) and then push the synch button for the wii remote - sounds like how you hook up new 360 controllers eh. Now, that wii remote should be registered to that wii from now on and you can avoid your above problems.

hes not lying. The controllers are rather difficult to get connected right if your trying to connect more than one Wiimote. As far as them disconnecting all the time, that may be a problem with your system or controllers. I've never had that happen unless the batteries are running low.

I synced up 4 wiimotes with no trouble what-so-ever and i only had to do it once. I guess they could not make the Wii casual enough for you.

Well that is not how to connect them you hit the sink button on the console then the one on the Wii-mote it is really not very hard but Sony's seem to be the best but M$'s is basicly the same as Nintendos.

I'll admit Syncing the controllers for the first time is usually a slight hassle, but once you get it works fine.

The only problem I've ever had with my Wiimote, is when it just completely refused to do anything for a day. It wouldn't even turn on, yet started working fine the next day.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin. Even with the 360 controllers you have to sync them to the console the first time you use a controller on that console. I think the PS3 just has to be plugged in to the USB to sync it. Once a Wiimote is sync'd with a console just hitting the power button to turn on the console and then another botton to turn the controller on works. I have no clue what you're talking about with menus, buttons, etc. I have never had my controllers disconnect and the batteries last for a decent amount of time. Honestly, I'm unsure where you're coming from with this story. Maybe his Wii is just going bad or maybe he doesn't know how to work a console. But IMO, your entire post didn't consistent of anything factual.

PS3nut

What you should have done (fom the Nintendo web site):

Standard Mode Synchronization

  1. Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.
  2. Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console. Remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote you wish to sync up.
  3. Press and release the SYNC button on the inside of the SD Card compartment on the console. Press and release the SYNC button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote.
  4. When the Player LED blinking stops, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4)

^^Simple, yes?

What you did was the one time mode sync. You're only supposed to do that when you bring your remote over to a friend's house. It temporarily syncs your remote to another console without removing the original sync to your home console. Since there was no original sync on those remotes you were using, every time you turned off the Wii, the remotes kept on reverting to their original state - not synced to anything.

Maybe your family should learn how to read manuals before blaming your problems on the hardware.

Wii is meant for casuals who never played games b4.

For gamers, its more for a complement to a 360.

theres 0 point in bashing the Wii. itll still sell amazingly well.

Wii shouldnt even be your concern..........PS3 fans should only care about beating 360 and vise versa.

Thats crazy about your Brother in laws kids ages... mine are the same age. You know, I was seriously considering getting a Wii at some point for my two boys, but now I realize it would be a waste of money. They thoroughly enjoy the 360, and it has plenty of games to offer for their age, so I decided I would just spend that money on games for them on the Xbox.

This guy wins! Please read the manual.

This reminds me of the time that a girl at work couldn't get her computer to work and she was a swearing up a storm. I walked in and took her notebook off of the Ctrl key. Some people just aren't cut out for technology.

Hmm.... I don't recall having any problems syncing my Wii controllers. A matter of fact it's been awhile, but I recall it being as easy as my 360.

You just have to be smarter than the machine. :P J/K

I can't believe you think this is an issue. You must have been doing something wrong, because I've synced in four Wiimotes on one console and I did it with ease. Just because you fail doesn't mean its the consoles fault

Sorry, but syncing is very easy on the Wii. Plus you don't even have to do it for the original controller. I jst set up my 4th Wii system over Thanksgiving and never have any troupble syncing the WiiPlay wiimote.
