... played System Shock 2? I'm just curious.

Yup. One of my favorite shooters ever, and one of the games that truly creeped me out. If Irrational nailed the atmosphere in Bioshock like they did that game, then I'm very excited.TheCrazed420
Thats the one thing that gets me. A lot of people always wonder if this game will be scary or whatever. Well, we have the developers of the one game with the most creepiest atmosphere ever! My gawd the paranoia it induced.
I feel were your coming from on this one. System Shock 2 was overlooked by Half Life. Why can't two good games ever get recognition? Why does it always have to be one?Lilac_Benjie
Half-Life was just a juggernaut, though. You can't really f with that game. Or its sequel, really. I'm not saying it's better than System Shock 2, necessarily, but I don't think you can fault anybody for Half-Life garnering so much praise and popularity when it came out.
Bioshock's facing the same problem, really. Any other year it'd be a shoo-in for several GOTY awards. But there is massive competition this year, more than even System Shock 2 had to deal with (and it had to deal with a lot).
Ok, I STARTED playing it, since I was trying to do co-op with a friend of mine, but it never really worked out. It's a game I know I SHOULD play, but I never have. Anyway, I refuse to answer your poll since I don't want to be lame :o
btw that's one of my favourite albums EVER in your sig.
Same here I never played it but I'm really hyped for Bioshock, I want to get System Shock II.I wish I had...

It was an action RPG, and half the time you were with a wrench....

Yeah, that describes System Shock 2 perfectly.
I have not played System Shock and System SHock 2...Why is there a connection between them and Bioshock?
Anywho I do want to play it...sadly I just can't find a copy!!!
I'm lame.
I wanted to play it though, I really did. It's just not the easiest game in the world to find.

Then would you like to describe SS2 better then?
I don't think I know the Only Conection is that Bioshock is the Spiritual Successor to System Shock II.I have not played System Shock and System SHock 2...Why is there a connection between them and Bioshock?

I could, but Gamespot wrote an entire article describing System Shock 2 rather perfectly, so there's no need to bother. I posted the link a few posts above. Go look. What you've done, you can do with any game. You realize that right? Name your favorite game. Its gameplay will easily be rendered into one disparaging sentence.
Though I should note that you calling System Shock 2 an action RPG is hilarious. And how are you calling it an RPG yet also saying you're "with a wrench half the time"? Did you forget about the RPG elements in the game while you were playing it? You have only yourself to fault for relying on guns in the game, when you're supposed to do anything but (much like Bioshock).
Ocarina of Time is an action RPG. System Shock 2.... not so much.

You do realize that in a top 5 list of the greatest games of all time, System Shock 2 is at number 2? I also think I'm one of the few people here on these forums that has the game inside it's original case right next to me, ready to pop in whenever I feel I want to get freaked out by mutant monkeys and euthanasia screaming crew members.
It's an action RPG. That does not mean you can't use a wrench. Does a wrench automatically make it a FPS? GameSpot lists it as a Sci Fi Action Adventure, although I'd have to disagree to an extent on that.
If you want to argue that Bioshock is a FPS and therefore SS2 is a FPS as well -- I'm willing to argue that Bioshock is more FPS oriented than SS2 as it's hitting the mainstream this time. I think hermits would agree with me that that is the case for most PC IPs that go to consoles.
And yes, the wrench is synonymous with System Shock 2. That's a familiar fact for those that actually play the game rather than praising it without even really playing it.
No unfourtunately, I've been scouring EB games for a while now trying to find a copy but I haven't had any luck.TyrantDragon55
I don't think you'll ever find it at EB or any retail store anymore.
Try eBay.

Well you can agree with me here that unless the person wants to go through all sorts of layers of hell, the only other way for them to get it is through thatparticular way.

What's with these ridiculous straw man arguments? Where did I call SS2 an FPS, and where did I say that using a wrench makes it an FPS? Jesus. Respond to the points or don't respond at all. Why did you even bring it up being listed at #2 in "a top 5 list"? What does that even mean, and how does it do anything except reinforce my point?
I mocked your saying that you're with a "wrench half the time" because that gives the impression that all you can do is whack things with a wrench. I also mocked you calling it an RPG then saying you're with a wrench half the time. Hello? If it's an RPG then you have other options, genius. I never trivialized the wrench with respect to the game, that's just another one of your sad straw mans.
The problem most people face with the wrench and a big reason as to why it's so infamous is because they try to create a gun-based character at the expense of spending on important skills like repair and maintenance to reinforce it, since guns are damn near useless in the game since they die so quickly and there's very little ammo. So they're left with whacking things with a wrench. Because they don't really know how to play the game. Sound familiar?
I like that shot at the end too, trying to say that I've never played the game. That's pretty damn weak. Straw mans and ad hominems all around. You just fail entirely at arguing, don't you?
