Some fanboy wrote earlier that sales people normally tell potential customers about RRoD. So, I wonder... Those of you who bought the 360 after July 5, 2007: were you informed of the Red Ring of Death? Sihanouk
I was told about it and they informed me that I needed to take all of their Xbox 360's because no one was buying them.
I really don't know. I bought my 360 knowing about it, and I even requested a 175w power brick, not a 203w, and when he asked if there was a specific reason, I told him that it's to do with RROD. I knew more about the 360 than the dude who was selling it to me, although the manager was much more 360 savvy as he was able to answer my Falcon chip questions.
If i hadn't have mentioned it, i doubt they would have told me, but it's free to repair so gives a crap?

yeah but it could take ages to get fixed and you could end up without a xbox for a month or so, which means that your online membership you payed for that month is for nothing.
Before buying anything that expencive I allways do research - I don't want to waste that much money. I found out about the RROD and decided the risk was worth it.

Well said. I too did my own research and opted to go with another system. It's not the salesperson's job to inform you of any risks. This is not a medical procedure.

I will not get a 360 because I don't feel like dealing with the repair issues, but you are wrong about the monthly fee for nothing part. MS reimburses you.[QUOTE="biggs92--"][QUOTE="curtdoggLP5"]If i hadn't have mentioned it, i doubt they would have told me, but it's free to repair so gives a crap?

My 360 has the falcon chip.
Luckily I didn't believe all the anti Xbox people here who blow up the whole RRoD thing.
Never had any problems so far, even after hours and hours of gameplay. Nor have one of my friends around me ever had a problem with their 360.
I still think it's a matter of 'treating technology with care'. Give the thing a little space, don't move it when a disc is playing inside it (lol I actually read about people who thought that was weird here in SW) and just make sure it stands safe.Sgt_Crow
If it was a matter of "treating technology with care" MS would never had implemented the 3 year warranty and spent all that money on free repairs.
I was never told about the RRoD when I bought my 360 last year, but I knew about it anyway. No way in hell I'm going to listen to what anyone at Best Buy has to say about videogames anyway.

the 3 year warranty is for all the idiots who don't know what they are doing, and the ones who do know what they are doing but are unfortunately stricken wiht RRODPeople who say that the RRoD is caused by not treating your 360 with care or that its completely fabricated are either ignorant or fanboys.
On top of the fact that the 360 spent only a couple of months on the drawing board, it was also rushed into production and its manufactured parts were made from different places and often were incompatible with each other. Not to mention they glued the joints together on the console with inferior sodder to save a couple bucks on every console sold. The problem was known very early upon release, but MS arrogantly claimed that only 1-3% of all their consoles had problems when in fact retailers like Gamestop had have up to 60% of all their 360 purchases returned. They ignored this obvious problem for 2 years until it got so bad that eventually they had to set aside 1 billion dollars just to fix this one problem(RRoD) out of many that actually plague the 360. That billion dollars doesn't just include repairing 360s. It also includes their back alley business deal with UPS for delivering all those coffins which probably costs more than the repairs themselves sometimes.
