Now I have only beat HL 2 Ep 2 and Crysis and I will admit I am a HL fanboy I appreciate the series a whole lot but Crysis pulled me in and didn't let go until the credits rolled onto the screen. Crysis is by far the most intense FPS game I have ever played. However, there are a lot of other great FPS out this year that I have not played. I was curious of the opinions of those who have beat them all, if any lucky person has, and what your thoughts are on the FPS in comparisons.

I did play CoD 1 and that game was intense from what I played so I imagine CoD 4 is a blast but I just haven't the money to play all these games. As for Halo I did play the first one and a little of the second but similar to the Metroid "Prime" series really after the first one I lost interest. Plus I don't have a 360.

So for any of the lucky ones to beat all 4 games what are your takes when looking back at all of them. Or if you have beat three of them your opinions are still relevant.

HL2>Crysis>Halo 3>>>>>>>COD4. COD 4 is nothing but COD 2 in the future with a new coat of paint.

But, taking MP into consideration I would say Halo 3 is my personal favorite.

Yeah, I myself have no realy interest in Crysis MP probably because non of my friends have a computer to really play Crysis lol. For me out of the games I listed TF2 which isn't really HL 2 Ep2 is the MP I will be playing.

The final level in Crysis was SORT OF intense but not really... Was good none-the-less. Cliffhanger ending sucked though. Oh well. I can't wait for the sequel though.

I thought it was rather anti-climatic. My favorite fire fight in EP2 was SPOILER when the voritgaunts were helping me defend Alyx against teh Ant Lions.

I would agree. I was expecting more than just Hunters and Striders. I would say the first encounter at the radio station with the Hunters was my favorite battle though.

that was good too. The series did break new ground with that final battle with all those Striders though. And finally, we have a sure-fire way to kill Striders rather than wasting lots of RPG's....

OMG that was awesome too! Everyone that played HL Ep 2 always talk about that part. Hl Ep 2 has a lot of memorable parts.

I thought I was the only one who thought that about COD4. COD4 is indeed a great game but it's not a huge jump from COD2 to be honest. COD4 is over-rated sure but I still think a must own for anyone who likes fps'. To tell the truth I think the level design for the multiplayer maps of COD2 are better than in the new game.

Currently playing Crysis but can't be bothered with finishing Ep 2 for reasons I do not know. Probably coz I got sick after playing HL2 + Ep 1 once more all over again. Crysis is cool and all but I hope it picks up after where I'm at (more storywise than anything). But to me it feels like it's the flipside of STALKER. If you combined the two into one you'd have one mad sandbox FPS.

Personally the Half Life story fascinates me and I think a lot of HL fans are pulled in by it and I know thats one reason I like playing through the HL games is to uncover the plot more so than other FPS. Personally I think HL story >> Crysis Story however the Crysis character models are flipping amazing not that thats a big deal just wanted to say that lol.

crysis and half life 2 are very different games by design....

Crysis's strength is its gameplay, namely huge, open, sandbox enviroments...while HL2 is all about presentation, enviroments, story, and so on.

Well I havn't played Crysis yet... because I can't. But screw it I'm going anyways.

Going on pure fun factor including SP and MP (Or lack there-of)

I say: Halo 3>COD 4> HL 2 Ep2. Nothing beats the good times me and my buddies share screwing around on Halo 3. COD 4 with my crew is fun too, but there isn't as much freedom. And while the finalé of HL 2 Ep2 was one of the greatest bits of fun I've found in a SP game in a long time I can still only play it over so many times before the amazement fades.

On story and technical merit:

HL2 Ep 2 >Halo 3> COD 4. I loved the story on the HL 2 series (Shame I havn't played 1) and I also really enjoyed the Halo trilogy's story. It's really to close for me to say a favourite. But HL 2 blows Halo 3 away with it's technical achievements. The physics most notably. Although Halo 3 vehicular combat still rules. COD 4 is just........ meh. I'll play a Tom Clancey game if I want that kind of story.

And yeah.... Crysis is just off doing it's own thing while I'm typing all of this. It's to cool to hang out with me.

Those who BEAT HL 2 Ep 2, Crysis, Halo 3, and CoD 4 come in please!

CoD4 > Halo 3 > Half Life 2 Episode 2

COD4 takes my personal cake because of it's intense multiplayer which in my personal opinion blows Halo 3 away. Buh wait! COD4 IS JUST rehashed COD2 but warfare settign!...ok going through that logic Halo 3 is Halo 2.5, Crysis is a better looking Far Cry with betterphysics and nanosuit functions, Episode 2 is just an expansion pack. Is what I said true? No but neither is CoD4 being a new fresh coat of paint.

CoD 4 simply had that cinematic "war" feeling that is immersive, the guns are super satisfying, the multiplayer is astonishing and heck the graphics look superb while not as taxing on an hardware like Crysis is (In fact im pretty sure that CoD4's PC online population is bigger thenboth Crysis and TF2).

What about Crysis? I didnt get it, played the demo AND beta and left the "meh" impression out of me but chances are I will get around to playing it when they release that dual-core patch but as for now my rig is stressed with an 20 fpsand occasionally dips to it's single digits when I punch an hut or something in high. I think that the thing about Crysis is that to fully appreciate this kinda experience, you need to run the game in a smooth framerate with an high or max setting.

I think to actually survive in the game you can't kill every single soldier. I've like skipped how many of 'em coz there's just too much for one super soldier lol. I think half the time the game's about survival

I would say

Crysis>HL2 e2>halo 3>CoD4

My favorite part in HL2 EPS 2 was When you first get to fight the hunters, you;re going up the lift and when you get to the top you see the hunter looking through the hole in the wall, it quickly moves out the way and you hide behind the table thing, then the hunters start shooting through the wall, splinters of wood is flying everywhere, it was awesome, CoD4 is really good but H3 MP and CoOp will keep me coming back so i find H3 the overall better game.

you didnt realize that right away? the game was never designed to be like that...like with farcry, crytek expects you to sneak around and go stealth in order to complete objectives.

Yeah the end battle in Ep2 was amazing.

I thought it was rather anti-climatic. My favorite fire fight in EP2 was SPOILER when the voritgaunts were helping me defend Alyx against teh Ant Lions.

The part with the tunnels, right? That was the second best part, after the end. The end battle was truly amazing, because it showed off some rare freedom of movement and somewhat open-ended gameplay, which Half-Life isn't really known for. The end of EP2 has been my favorite HL2 section so far, mainly for these reasons. I also though the tension was racketed up pretty high at the end. I was playing on hard and I didn't camp by the base, so there were a couple of times when the Striders would come inches from the base and I'd have to race back and blow them up at the last second. Good times.

As far as all these games, I own and have beaten all of them. They're all pretty damn good. I would put Halo 3 at the bottom of the heap, not because I hate Halo, but because the other three are simply superior. CoD4 features the best multiplayer out of them and a solid campaign, though Crysis' MP is also fantastic and quite underrated.

Overall, Crysis is the gold standard of FPSs at this point, the next evolution. It's the best out of these four and the best game to be released this year, and that includes Mario Galaxy, which I played through much of (and is excellent). It's also one of the best games ever.

I didn't conciously get it but it just came naturally to me. Besides, there's multiple path ways and bad guys in every single one of 'em. Unless you wanna backtrack for no reason, then yeah, you shouldn't be killing all of them.

killing the armor was easy... There are two RPG's downstairs. Pick one up, take out the one, pick the other up and take out the second. Easy. Anyway, the game truly shines after that level. I believe it is the second level right? The 3rd level was quite intensebut thenthe 4th and 5thjust got rediculously awesome. Then camethe 6th level which was also extremely intense. The 7th was good but I kind of got lost and ran out of ammo... Trust me, you don't want to run out of ammo... The 8th was pretty good but was pretty linear. 9th was intense but was annoying to the point that I nearly cried cause I kept getting killed.... 10th was OK. Final level was amazing though. Very intense and the game definitely finished with a bang. But seriously, the 4th and 5th are levels to remember IMO.

But doesnt the game get linear and straight up run and gun like Far Cry did when the mutants were introduced?

If you combined the two into one you'd have one mad sandbox FPS.FrozenLiquid

where you at in Crysis?

edit -just say the mission number.

Eh I dunno the mission number lol but up to Psycho being a lame and "protecting" the hostage whilst I bust my ass with the KPA armour.

LOL!

Psycho's such a big puss. It was so hilarious, there are two big ass tanks outside with other soldiers, and Psycho is just like "yeah, you go take care of that mate, I'll just sit here in this fortified complex with the attractive asian".

killing the armor was easy...

Oh right, you can't play this like Halo -_-. Here I was trying to 'hijack' the tanks and bunnyhop like a mad man. And I got like fifty other footsoldiers on my ass too. Yeah I was trying to find some sort of BFG to destroy the tank, but I couldn't find it. So it's in the school?

Yeah, it's in the first or second level of the school, in one of the rooms. There are 3 rocket launchers sitting pretty in there, I believe.

yeah, ground floor in the school. Search all the rooms. There SHOULD be two of them sitting right there along with a stockpile of other ammo like FY71 ammo, pistol ammo, shotgun ammo, several grenades and a lot of other stuff. Try and look for them.

Prophet to an extent too. "Yo Nomad you go check out the village up ahead and I'll send up Psycho when he's done protecting my ass whilst I'm watching TV. Oh by the way, watch out for the snipers, helicopters, and sharks"

Grrr.. those $#%# helicopters. The only thing in the game I don't like is the helicopters. And not because they do a lot of damage, but because they can see you ANYWHERE and track you even while you're cloaked, which is just lame.

Dang that excludes me, I still haven't bought Crysis yet.Vandalvideo

LOL, yeah same here. In the back of my head I'm wondering if Crysis will have an ending that is as jaw-droppingly insane as HL2 EP:2's though. I'm not just talking about the final boss fight, i'm talking about the last 20 seconds before credits roll too.

i find a nice fortified building and hide. Normally those buildings have RPG's in there too so I found the Helicopters to be less of a pain and more of a fun thing to blow up over top of the Korean squad... seeing that helicopter squish a group of Koreans is priceless. More annoying thing for me were the Koreans at the end of Relic. I doubt I need to say more for anyone who played that level.

Half-Life 2 gets my vote. Followed by Call of Duty 4.

Crysis is simply amazing, in all aspects. It is the best campaign I played since Half-life 2, bar none. Halo 3's slightly overhyped and COD4 doesn't really offer anything revolutionary.
