I finished the game about 2 hours ago, I played on Legendary. I enjoyed the game a lot, it had superb campaign mode which was fun and very action packed with diverse aray of missions, some of which were quite uncommon to RTS games, and I kept constantly playing being very curious what will be next, both in terms of missions and cutscenes/story alike. Speaking of cutscenes, I think they were state-of-the-art, and had very good presentation. Some might say, they were epic. The game is full of polish in many areas, and I appreciate even such small things as ability to skip or pause cutscenes at any time. I think the game blurred the line between a strategy game and an action one very well. It's a solid 8.5 from me (I didn't play multiplayer, though, only skirmish with AI). If I had to pick one favourite mission, that definetly would be Cleansing (Mission 11). Overall, a very good swansong from Ensemble.

EDIT:

Note to the mods: please, do not lock the thread, I was well aware of the other one, but I wanted to have my own, since I wanted to have specific thread about impressions about the game from those who finished or played this game a lot.

Worth playing, then? How long is it? And how long did it take you?

The campaign takes between 7 and 10 hours of gameplay, but it's a one hell of a ride. I beat some missions under 30 minutes (depends on kind of mission), and some of them took me approximately an hour, or sometimes slightly more, but it's well worth replaying for unlocking hidden black boxes with Halo timeline, or Skulls, as well as getting Gold medals, and thus getting moar achievements. I think the whole campaign is very seamless and unified, and it has good replay value, I'd like to finish it in co-op some day.

And despite giving it overall a 8.5, the fun factor in this game for me was 9.

How is this different then any other thread? We have plenty of threads where it is only about 1 game.

Because this is system wars. Not "let's talk about an exclusive 360 game and nothing else" forum. He coulda made it system wars worthy and said "I just beat Halo Wars, it's better than any other console RTS evarrrrr" which it isn't. It's terrible and i've played plenty of better RTS console games. Army Men RTS on ps2 is better than this fanboy fueled game.

I agree. This should be either in the 360 forum or Halo Wars forum...unless you are trying to start a debate?

A couple of threads about PC exclusive Cryostasis that all were here, on SW, disagree with you, no matter what do you think about the game. Stop manifesting.

lol. N64 game beating 360 game. I've never played a console RTS, ever. It just seems... counter-intuitive.

Will let you know at some point. :) I have played some of the game elsewhere and watched and listened to someone I brought up playing VG so he has my ear and I'm confident the full, first hand play through will find me in agreement with you.

A little somethin, somethin for those who can relate - this being the the first & last RTS I played to completion on a console since umm yeah RTS started on console ( arguable ) :P . Me thinks H.W. will be the best console RTS since.

Arguably the first realtime strategy RTS game ever, Herzog Zwei laid the foundation for one of the most popular genres in PC gaming -- yet it all began on a console. Even the developers at Blizzard point to Herzog Zwei when they talk about the titles that prompted their foray into the RTS arena. Players each took charge of a giant, transformable robot and battled for control of a number of bases, creating and deploying units as needed to fend off your enemy. While it wasn't an incredibly deep RTS in its own right, Herzog Zweiwas one of the best multiplayer games for the Genesis, and its influence on the games industry is immeasurable. Herzog Zwei is German, by the way, and translates to Duke Two.

Your incorrect Real Time Strat started on the PC in 1984, but feel free to make stuff up.

'The Ancient Art of War is a computer game developed by Evryware and published by Broderbund in 1984. In retrospect, it is generally recognized as one of the first real-time strategy games.'

Yeah, atm I'm on mission 12 or 13 (can't remember). It's pretty good so far, the story's fine, the soundtrack's excellent, the controls are slick and it looks suprisingly good. I haven't even started on the multiplayer yet. Next up, Empire: Total War :)

According to SW logic, you're not allowed to like it because it scored a 6.5. Sorry, but that's the rules. Better find something else to play, like 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. :P

Im only on mission 7 thus far, and will continue to play after I finish my sanwhich, but it has been very fun. It's much better than I had expected and multplayer is a blast.
