I really dig it.
The screen is beautiful and the system is a solid peice of hardware. I haven't had any problems with battery life or anything either. The UI is fantastic (it's not like the PS3's) and the touchscreen controls are extremely responsive. It's a sexy peice of hardware.
The memory sticks are a bummer though. For $250, they should have at least thrown in like 4 gigs of internal memory. Oh well.
I recommend it if you enjoy handheld gaming.
Amazing system, i love it! pretty much the best handheld you'll ever own, does everything the PS3 is able to do and more!
good thing i just made a blog about the vita, i took bunch of screenshots from the system so this is how everything looks on the vita from friends to trophies to cross party chat to texting to everything:

Yes my friends are huge call of duty fans :P

I bet you're gonna cream your pants once CoD Vita hits? :PI traded in my old PSP GO, my friends PSP 3000 and my little brothers DS Lite at Gamestop to get the 3G/Wifi launch bundle at around 125. And I'm really loving the system. Before Mass Effect 3 came out, I didn't even touch my PS3. That was like almost 3 weeks of my not even touching my PS3, even when I had ample time to play and enjoy a big console game. The Vita's UI is so much better than the PS3's. Everything is much faster and much smoother. And the screen is just as advertised folks. I mean its gorgeous. And the games are diverse and there should be something for everybody.
And the thing that has me hyped the most about this device is the potential of it. I remember reading interviews from Sony execs saying how the Vita is like the "perfect canvas" for devs to make great and unique games. At the time I thought it was just your usual marketing b.s. But really guys its awesome to think about the type of games people could make on this thing. Especially with the rear and front touchscreens. I know there are some creative devs out there that will find a great use for both. Hell I loved how the fronttouch was utilized in Uncharted GA. (Rear touch implementation was ok I guess).
Yea so now I know I sound like a paid Sony dude lol, but I'm really loving the device, though its not without its flaws...
...Web Browser is kinda crappy, 3G implementation is pointless right now, lack of any great RPGs that made many of us flock to handhelds in the first place, fingerprints suck, and the memory card bonanza is unfortunate.
All those quips aside though, if you have the money and the time for portable gaming, I'd highly recommend the Vita. If your on the fence, I can assure you its a great device, and that your patience would be rewarded. Wait till the holidays and there'll be even more games to choose from and I'm sure there will be a special holiday bundle to sweeten/cheapen the deal.
Are there folders for the home menu icons? Like on iOS where you can arrange different apps into folders? I got to admit that UI looks rather boring to me, is there anything else to it other than custom wall papers?bonesawisready5
No folders yet brah. Sony should hopefully fix that in a firmware update. Its not a problem now, but once people start getting a lot of games, the UI could definetely start getting cluttered.
And I think custom wallpapers can make the UI look awesome. Got a sexy Mass Effect 3 wallpaper as my screen lock :).
I have a question of my own to all the Vita owners out there. Have you tried attaching any sort of caps to the analog sticks to thicken them a little (and thus increase perceived throw), along with making them more comfortable? I've found some, but unfortunately, they're apparently meant to attach using double-sided tape that loses grip fairly quickly, along with being solid plastic without any sort of rubberized coating. Honestly, those analog sticks are a big drawback to me in their current state, and I'm hoping that there's at least some way to make them more comfortable to use and easier to make fine analog adjustments with short of a total hardware revision. All of my other complaints about the Vita will be solved in due time (I mean, it just launched here and only has 4 months of lifespan counting Japan!), but maybe not the analogs...NamelessPlayer
Not yet, I'm waiting for some official accessory. And I've gotten used to the analog sticks somewhat. I remember the first time I played Uncharted GA, I couldn't shoot sh*t. Lol. But now I'm pretty boss, especially with the gyro aiming for headshots. But theres no doubting that the analog sticks feel a tad "off".
Am curious to see how Resistance Burning Skies deals with that.
I got myself an american psn id- to buy stuff u need to buy american psn cards online which are then send to ur email. Stuff is like 20-25 dollars cheaper.Love everything about it, cept the memory card prices, and how pathetic the Australian store is for the pricing of Vita and PsP games.

Yeah I was thinking about doing something like that, finding the cheapest PSN store, go on Ebay or whatever website and buy the PSN cards. Thanks for the advice.

yeah dont get them of ebay go to pcgamessupply.com to buy them and get them sent straight to ur email.This...although.. an 8gig sticks like $30 I have all the apps, 4 vita games and 5 psp games on mine with 1 seperate game card (uncharted because its large). The games are great, the analog control is superb! I love it, I can't wait for more games to come out. The ui is fast, responsive and 3d accelerated. It plays netflix and has an amazing screen. I highly recommend it!I really dig it.

[QUOTE="tarzanell"]Any other thoughts from anyone?finalstar2007
what do you want to know?
Are there any blockbuster AAA titles in the works for the Vita? How are the analog sicks?(feel and responsiveness) Is the device heavy and how (portable) is the Vita? Fingerprint magnet?[QUOTE="finalstar2007"][QUOTE="tarzanell"]Any other thoughts from anyone?MercenaryMafia

Fingerprint magnet?Games i can think of would be Resistance, Killzone, Call of Duty and Gravity Rush.. its also getting the MGS collection
analog sticks are very responsive and work just as you would expect from an analog stick, very similar to the PS3's controller.
device is very light, it looks big and has a huge screen but i can confirm its extreemly light, sadly it is indeed a fingerprint magnet so if you clean it once every week should be enoguh, no big deal tbh
HOLD ON JUST A MINUTE THERE, You can screen cap from the Vita itself?ShadowDeathX
Yup you can screen cap while doing pretty much ANYTHING! during a game, during netflix, during music, during a chat, etc

Yeah a firmware can definatly change that. Hell IOS didn't have that when I got my IPOD3G - and it didn't come out till the next year with folders. Each screen can have its own wallpaper, either different colored ones by the system or your own you take with the camera, download or transfer to the device. The screen's not as pretty as my iPod Touch, and I think I'd rather use an upgraded XMB menu system than the new system. But the games I've played so far are fun (Wipeout 2048 and Motorstorm RC). I like the big screen and I find the sticks to be comfortable to use and would much rather use them than the nub on the original PSP or circle pad on the 3DS. It's large, but I don't see that as being a problem. Some times the right stick gets in my way when I'm wanting to press one of the face buttons. I guess practice will help me to stop doing that. I'm waiting on price drops on games before buying anymore. I think Wipeout 2048's enough for now. It was enough to get the hardware. LovePotionNo9Ipod touch really?? I have one of those too a ipod3g and the screen is crap compared to the vita screen. It's half the resolution and colors are drab with the blacks looking grey. My wife has the ipod4g and the only improvment to the screen that i see is the resolution is the same as the vita but smaller screen. The colors are the same. I really notice the oled colors and clarity over the ipod/iphone. I have Planescape torment as my screen lock background and the orange in the background is so bright it's crazy when you turn it on.

Plus if you buy games off of psn there is ZERO TAX and they are $5.00 cheaper!! Katamari was $25.00 instead of $32.something if I bought it on cart. Please Log In to post.
