the new trailer is garbage but im excited about the game. yeah you can argue that it's ripping off Rockband but really what did you expect it was the only logical solution to continue to compete with Harmonix and Rockband. The custom soundtracks sounds cool but we'll see how well it turns out, and i like their drumkit better than RB plus the promise of the biggest tracklist yet along with a full dragonforce teir.... ill be buying it for sure. I will also be buying rockband 2 so eh. Im happy with the way the series is going, as long as i dont have to plop down 180 for both games. meaning that i hope that the instruments work together.
If Rock Band changes the drums to something a little more interesting, but I am really excited about GHIV since the addition of drums. I have really lost interest in Guitars.
I have Guitar Hero for the Wii, and I can't access downloadable content. So a bigger setlist is preferrable. But it really depends on the artists. Like Dragonforce is alright, but I don't really like much of their songs, pretty much only Through The Fire And Flames.
Guitar is easy for me now so it'll be nice to have a new challenge, plsu RB isn't out until August 29th in Europe so I urge all Europeans to boycott it and get GH4 instead, hopefully it won't have such a ludicrous price either.

the reason i didnt get Rock Band is becasue i want a game that is focused on what i like best, guitar. Guitar Hero was for me. But now it seems like Guitar Hero 4 wont be for me anymore. Maybe ill get it but my apt doesnt have enough room for all of the massive preferials.
Looks good, but they dont try to hide that they completely ripped off rock band. sure they made improvements, but im still shaking my head on this one, because all of this could have been easily implemented into rock band or rock band 2.

Well, I only really listen to a few genres of music, heavy metal, hair metal, hard rock and classic rock. Dragonforce is kind of.. different. I have tried listening to their songs, but it seems kind of a bit techno-ish.
I love GH. I was gonna get it regardless but it was more like meh same ol same ol. But with the 4v4 battle of the bands, I was instantly stoked. Create your own song and share them online, now it's a must have.
I already have all the instruments, and I don't feel like buying them for GH. And seeing the way GH does downloadable songs compared to RB turns me off.
i loved guitar hero until 3.it just wasnt the same.gh2 was amazing and gh3 the songs werent fun.also gh dlc sucks big ones compared to rockband.until the start to get some dlc that is as good as rock band i might never buy a gh again only rent it

Honestly there are plenty of people who have good reasons to not like Dargonforce. If it makes you feel better, I don't even like TTFaF.
Forgot to voice my opinion on the game, I think I'll buy the game by itself since the whole point of Guitar Hero is the guitar. I'll just get my friend who has Rock Band to bring his drumbs and mic over if they want to play that style of game. The song writing thing sounds like a cool idea, but I'm willing to bet most people will end up just making songs that are nothing but mindless shredding.
I've started to hate the GH series after a while, Rock Band is easily better. The only thing missing in RB (I think) is beattle of the bands, and 8 player multipler mode. Of course now GH4 has that, but I dunno, I wouldn't buy it JUST for that. If it's cheaper than $100 I'll look into it
I won't be wasting my money on more of Activision's garbage games like Guitar Hero. After how horrid GH3 was in terms of value for the PS2 and soon to be Wii owners, I don't feel the need to buy another game by them when they milked me of my money by not offering the game or controllers individually right out of the game with the last installment. Sure, Rock Band guitars are shoddy and have their issues but that is why we have warranties. But either way I don't want to play crappy metal by bands like Slayer and Dragon Force, nor do I want to hear another horrid Ozzy/Black Sabbath cover by them ever again, the lack of variety in Guitar Hero has made it into absolute garbage, at least GH 1&2 were good with a wider array of rock songs spanning a few different areas like surf, blues, alternative, southern rock etc. Rock Band just takes a dump over Guitar Hero because of the content you can download every week. Sure it costs you extra money but at the end of the day it is great for both single player and multiplayer.
They can "improve" add or whatever they want, Guitar Hero games (And Rock Star) will be great imo depending of the songs they have. The more songs they have that I love, the more I'll like the game really simple.

They didnt offer the game by itself in a Wii version because no Wii guitars were on the market. Would be pointless to offer the game by itself and have no way to play it properly. Besides, GH3 guitars will work with GH4 and the Wii will get dlc. Its looking good to me.
On a side note, RB controllers along with the game were not available individually right off the bat either.
im buying it simply because harmonix are screwing us over in Australia...it hasnt been released yet and there is no mention of when a release date will be.
GH4 will be the first "full band" game down here and i hope it does well
