Thoughts on the new 2d/3d Sonic 4?

Whats your thoughts on sonic 4? Im sure its been brought up already, but are people excited at all? My two cents; Im glad they are trying to "fix" sonic from his curse of bad games, but I think the damage is done. Unless this game is really fantastic, It's not doing anything for me at the moment nor will it.

It will either be an awesome game or nobody will ever trust Sonic Team again in the unlikely chance that they screw up his 2D era as well.

Also, the damage has not been done. This news spread across the internet very quickly which proves that people are hopeful for this.

2.5D is the correct term and I'm gonna wait for a game play video before making judgments. So far, all I can say is that it looks like a Sonic game.

It doesn't look that good imo. The visauls were really lack luster. Such a lame sprite for sonic, They should have redrawn the original in HD like ssf2tHDremix

It would be pretty easy to screw this up.

Some of their comments on their blogs (especially the one about Sonic's speed) are really promising, but some other things aren't (like the presence of the homing attack).

So we'll see. In all honestly, I think the game will be much better than the 3D offerings, but will also be bland and forgettable. About average.

I hate it because I don't have a broadband connection. :cry:

I hate games being ONLY available via DLC and I am not a fan of episodic gaming. I barely accept it for my favorite shows because I just wait till they release on DVD and buy the box set. Give me a 2D COMPLETE sonic game on a disk. Sega always takes one step forward and two step back.Javy03

Finally someone who agrees with me on this point! I can't believe how many people there are who actually prefer it being a downloadable game as opposed to a legitimate retail release.

He's not talking about the Advance series. He's talking about the very broken Sonic Genesis game, a port of Sonic 1 for the GBA. The game was so buggy it was quite literally unplayable.

3d on a 2d plane like lbp please

I think it's looking great so far, and maybe good enough to be Sonic's redemption for his more recent 3D games. Part of me remains skeptical though.

If it ends up as good as megadrive ones ill get it for sure.

If this game ends up sucking then there's no hope of a return for Sonic.

It's DLC isn't it? That's instant fail for me.

Iwish this game wasn't dlc only. I'm still hoping for a physical disc with all of the episodes on it. I really hope sonic team doesn't mess this up. From what I've read it sounds like it's gonna be a great game. If the graphics are like SF4 then this game should also be eye candy :)

i hate to say it but i think if they took a tip from smb and had an overworld map with the levels, that might be kinda cool (although i always liked that in platformer games, it feels kinda like you get to choose if only a little bit where to go)
