[QUOTE="Zhengi"][QUOTE="ironcreed"] I think that it is a clear indicator that the Wii library for the most part is going to consist of cheap, low quality games that devs can throw together, and use the Wiimote as a selling point in order to cash in on. That is why they think that it is a 'godsend.' They care about saving, and making money, and could give a damn less whether or not the games please the 'core' gaming base or not, as they are making a fortune off of the casuals who are eating garbage like 'Cooking Mama' up.
They think that they can appease the so called 'hardcores' by throwing them a bone here and there with a Metroid or Mario game, but about 80% of the Wii's games will more than likely consist of titles like Wii Sports, Cooking Mama, Boogie, and Wii Fit, because they are a corporation, and that is what is making them the money right now. So, they sure as hell are not going to abandon that formula. In fact they will increase it.
To each their own, but no Wii for me, lol. As Subrosian so simply, but eloquently put it, "I am done with Nintendo."

So basically your argument is that companies like MS and Sony don't care about making money, but rather, making games so that they can lose money to keep you "core" gamers happy. Wow, that makes a lot of sense. I never saw MS and Sony in that type of light. I'm surprised they don't give their games away.
Of course they care about money, lol. I think you are missing my point here. At least Microsoft and Sony are striving to make more advanced (more expensive to develop) games, whilst Nintendo has a console that devs can make quick, cheap to develop games on that are centered around the Wiimote which is the Wii's primary selling point. And then of course they can save money, and then make a fortune off of the hype of the Wiimote alone.
If you were in their shoes, you would be calling it a godsend as well. Because of the craze over the Wiimote, cheap games are selling like hotcakes. A developers dream, yes, but it is the antithesis for someone who wants more games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, Killzone 2 or Heavenly Sword, and wishes that Nintendo would head in that direction a bit more along with Microsoft and Sony. Unfortunately though, they are going in the opposite direction.
As I said though, to each their own, man. Whatever floats your boat, aye?
Well, let me ask you this. Why do games have to be more expensive for them to be good? Nintendo has always strifed to bring out some of the most fun and innovative games. Heck, some people keep using the argument that 3rd parties can't compete on Nintendo consoles because first party games are so strong. So I don't see how Nintendo now isn't doing enough to develop those big games. In fact, 3 of the biggest games this year are coming from Nintendo in SMG, MP3, and SSBB. Those are fully dedicated to core gamers.
Now onto 3rd parties, you might have a point in that they strive for money, but this would also be the case with the 360 and PS3. That's why publishers like EA make games like Madden multiplatform in order to capitalize as much as they can. There is also no maxim that games that cost cheaper are not going to be good to great games. This assumption that these games are automatically bad is faulty and not a solid argument.
In fact, if a publisher wanted to make an epic game, the minimum amount to develop a game isn't going to stop them. No one is saying that they won't spend $10-15 million making a Wii game. Those games could have more production value since it is cheaper to develop on the Wii. So in essence, I'm saying that it takes less money to make a great game on the Wii than it does on the PS3 or 360. That is a definite plus as publishers can take more risks to bring original games and that is a good direction to go in. Also, gamers also benefit as Wii games do not cost as much.
